"Lost Time" by D.L. Orton

The world as we know it is crumbling to pieces, one small destruction at a time. With an encrypted message and the use of futuristic technology, it is up to Isabel to attempt to save not only her relationship with Diego, but the millions of people residing in her universe. Wow! Not sure if I can express how much I absolutely loved this read with just a matter of written words. But, here goes nothing! Ms. Dorton’s Dystopian world is created in this book; it’s not just stated and one is reflecting on how the messed-up world came to be. She takes it a few steps back, and leads the reader into why the world will become the way it will. This is such a refreshing take on this genre, where usually the reader is already thrown into the apocalyptic world instead living through it with the characters that I very much enjoyed. What I also loved about this story is the balance between the Sci-Fi and realistic parts. There was definitely some out-of-this world capabilities (time traveling, different universes), but there was also this basic urge to survive and not lose oneself when everything seems to be lost. I really appreciate the author doing this in her book. Lastly, I absolutely love the relationship between Diego and Isabel. Sometimes, I admit, when there are several love-making scenes in a book, I become a bit frustrated and just want the story to continue. However, between the care that I have developed between these two characters (who by the way, are adults, not teenagers like many novels I read in this genre) and the way the author develops their relationship, I actually come to relate to their love for each other. In other words, I was very happy for them when they were making love or about to because it was out of love, not just the desperate desire to pleasure oneself. It was more pure than that. Overall, I loved this book and cannot wait to dive into the second one! I would highly recommend this 5-star rated read to those who enjoy romance with some time traveling!

Crossing in Time by D.L. Orton - Temporarily FREE!
Today’s Book of the Day is *Crossing in Time* by D.L. Orton.
The professional OnlineBookClub.org reviewer rated this book a perfect 4/4.
The reviewer wrote in part, “…this is an incredible book. The author included a lot of scientific language and knowledge, and in doing so, created characters that felt like actual specialists in their fields. I was worried that some of the knowledge might be over my head, but the author was able to explain everything easily and without distracting from the story. I also enjoyed the way she connected the different POVs, so the reader knew things that many characters did not, but still kept the reader guessing until the last page. I also appreciated that there are hardly any mistakes or errors in the writing and grammar.”

Or Why do Amazon Giveaways for Print Books Count Toward Bestseller Rankings But Ebooks Do Not?
This is the second post in an ongoing analysis of Amazon Giveaways for books (Kindle, paperback, and hardback editions).

Are Amazon Ebook Giveaways a SCAM?
On March 1st, 2016 Amazon.com announced that Kindle ebooks would now be eligible for Amazon Giveaways, and the Indie Publishing (aka Self Publishing) World cautiously celebrated (i.e. we drank our morning coffee with a bit more zest.)
After running a handful of ebook giveaways (seven as of today), it turns out that the initial caution was warranted. If you’re an author, publisher, or book…

Pick-Up Advice: Is It a Bad Thing?
Pick Up Advice: Is It a Bad Thing?
There are always discussions going on over at The Good Men Project about ethical pick-up advice and whether socially-challenged men are “helped” by PUA (Pick-Up Advice) forums that portray woman as targets to be exploited (i.e the fastest way to get laid.) The shy (or otherwise challenged) “nice guys” claim that the (often morally iffy) advice helps them succeed in “real” relationships, and that…

The first book in the BETWEEN TWO EVILS series is available now!
D. L. Orton lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where she and her husband are raising three boys, a golden retriever, two Siberian cats, and an extremely long-lived triops. Her future plans include completing the books in the BETWEEN TWO EVILS SERIES followed by an extended vacation on a remote tropical island (with a Starbucks). When she's not writing, playing tennis, or helping with algebra, she's building a time machine so that someone can go back and do the laundry.
