Some pics from my trip to the iconic Daikoku Futo in Tokyo, Japan earlier this year. No tripod, no flash, so I had to rely on long exposures with my camera propped up on whatever was available - mostly the ground! This place was a blast, I won't be forgetting the trip anytime soon. Highly recommend any car nuts make the pilgrimage if visiting Japan :)

I went over to Japan recently and visited Daikoku Futu. Didn't have a tripod but still took some snaps and had a ball! What a rad time, totally going back. I'll upload more in the next few days :)
Just a few of the gorgeous cars that turned out to the Downshift Paul Walker Charity Cruise this weekend in Brisbane/Gold Coast, Queensland Australia.
Over 3000 cars turned up and there was a very, very limited amount of time to get pics before the cruise started (not to mention I was battling the traffic myself!)Â The pics really don't do the event justice at all. What a day.

So I just realised that there are a bunch of other "DMax Photography" companies/sites out there. They are all perfectly legit, and 100% unrelated to this site or my work. I guess I should have done a quick Google search before hastily coming up with a tag for watermarks huh? Question is, what do I do now? I guess I can go back and re-watermark all my work, re-upload etc. Is it worthwhile in your opinion, given this isn't a job for me or paid or anything - just amateur/hobby/fun work?

It's been a while since I took some snaps, but this weekend I got out to the Downshift Coffee & Cruise at Queensland Raceway. What better way to spend a Saturday morning than giving it a belt with some mates, then take some pics & have bacon eggs and coffee for breakfast? :) Heaps of amazing cars were out, and I have plenty more pics than these ones - might have to upload more later!
Hi all, So I made an accidental purchase on eBay the other week - accidentally bought a Canon 50mm f1.8 FD lens, thinking it was an EF! Well, my mistake is some lucky persons win. If you have a Canon SLR (yup, SLR - this won't fit a DSLR) and you'll use this lens, I'm going to GIVE IT AWAY FOR FREE. I'll even pay postage myself if it's under $10 from Australia (note: Prefer to send within Australia lol). All you have to do is respond to this post with some examples of your work, and proof you have a Canon SLR that this will fit. I'll choose someone by the end of the night :)
Another month, another Downshift meet! This time around we had the pleasure of a new venue - Hamilton on the river. An amazing turn out of cars was present, with eye candy at every turn. Word on the street is that there were over 700 rides in attendance, including a stunning array of exotics and even a bagged Harley!
The crazy cars I’ve seen… That thing in the first pic is a Toyota Supra believe it or not. These pics were taken at another Downshift, this time a rooftop meet. It was the first time in ages I’d tried taking pictures at night, which without the use of a flash and decent lens (I shoot with the standard Canon 18-55mm kit lens) can be a real challenge.
Ahh, such a crowning moment... My new wheels were on, and not even some split paint could get rid of the smile on my face. This was also the first time I used my watermark, and got my head around tints to get some effects I had wanted for ages. Points to those who can spot the epic screwup in the last picture, haha... ah well, we're all newbs at one point right?
Ok, so maybe these aren't the most exciting pictures in the world - but to me they were for two very important reasons. Fist, it was the first time I had ever bought new rims for a car - but what made me just as happy was that I seemed to have one of those "AHH!" moments where everything just clicked into place! Suddenly it seemed I was able to get the nice crisp, clear photos I wanted, and so I couldn't resist taking some pics during the trial fitment :)
From my first track day, actually. I was pretty happy with these two shots, though clearly a polarizing filter would have been a good idea for the second picture!
One afternoon at home I felt like taking some practice shots for when the subject wasn't in the most ideal environment. In this case, I left my car in the crowded, messy garage and played around with various angles and framing trying to get the cleanest, most creative shots I could.
Around this time I started experimenting with other angles a bit, as you can see here. I remember being particularly happy with the engine shot (from a Civic) thanks to the awesome wrinkled textures, and the smooth feel of the Evo shot...
