Abé showed us plucking, processing and tasting and along with the women of tea who cooked, plucked and showed us how to process tea. The garden is organic and grows tea, vegetables, spices, fruit and we enjoyed quite a bounty of it. Random cat photo of Puss, just because. A visit to Akbar Brothers, Colombo Sri Lanka and meeting Ransiri Mendis and his family’s tea processing facility, founded in 1969. Currently there are 3 generations of the family working in the company which produces our Ceylon teas Tiger River and Adams Peak, and lovely Earl Grey. Tasting is always part of it accompanied by a lot of slurping! We saw how teas are sorted, graded and selected and how each country has its own preferred flavor and profile.
