shes so pretty
— hands clasped together, liv just looked at her surroundings. they didn’t look so wickedly different from the surrounding area of alchemax, only ... very less snow-y, she noted. different area entirely. another dimensional rift that’s lobbed her someplace else entirely ? definitely a possibility.
she was about to take some dirt samples before she heard rustling behind her, and turned around nonchalantly. regardless of what -- or who -- it could’ve been, she was fully equipped to handle it herself, only at the expense of her favorite lab coat.
“ don’t hide from me now, pretty please ! “ / @authree

“y- yeah, yeah. sure.” it was pretty obvious that they were nervous. but it’s not like they could back out of this situation now, could they? they’ll follow her, steps being a bit hesitant than they usually would be.
“so uh…” might as well make some small talk while this is all happening. “wh- what kind of scientist are you? like- j- just in general or something specific?” apologies for their curiosity. ally just wants to know as much as they can.
— GREAT. compliance was easy for them, apparently, and she appreciated that. despite her need to know EVERYTHING she could about them, they were apprehensive on it. that was understandable, but liv thought of ways to maybe rope them in a little more. information was power, after all.
leading them back toward her office, she just made a face. “ the fun kind ! you know, always trying to find things out. is there anything you’ve always wanted to figure out about yourself ? your parents, your lineage, that sort of thing ? i’m not that kind of scientist, but that doesn’t mean i don’t KNOW how to do it. you know ? of course. “
— “ now, now, may. there’s no need to be so hostile right now. i called you in for your opinion. i know what you’re capable of, and no intern of mine can give perspective like you do. “ there’s a pause, before she smiles softly. “ i’ll treat you to dinner and we can have a long, much needed talk. you can pick the place. “
okay, in theory, this would go smoothly. liv hoped that it would, at least. there was a LOT to discuss after everything that’s happened, especially on her own end. she ... just hoped things would work out, honestly. not that she’d ADMIT that. not yet, at least. / @slayspire
— “ now there’s a lot to unpack here, and we don’t have time for that. here’s my proposal ; you can explain your have of this TO - TALLY bizarre situation, and i’ll do the honours of returning the favor. there ! does that sound like a good thing to agree upon ? “
olivia stared the other down, both with caution and curiosity placed carefully upon her features. it was, of course, in her nature to make theories and confirm them, but this ... oddity, of a person before her, in HER dimension, left her with nothing to theorize on. not until she got some questions answered, at least.
“ i WILL, however, introduce myself ! my name is doctor olivia octavius. pleased to meet you, individual of high interest from another dimension ! “ / @vorcotec
— “ how peculiar ! “ in order to properly avoid getting any of the gore on herself, liv just propped herself up and maneuvered around on her tentacles, the noise of the flexible and somewhat gooey material they were made of making UNPLEASANT sound with the guts and bones they stepped on.
“ the alternate universal shift from my test seems to have left me in ... whatever this place may be. fascinating. “ stepping over some lump, liv continued to survey her surroundings, taking in as much information as she could before she found what looked to be a structure --- something that USED to be human - made, she wagers. it doesn’t take long, however, for inhabitants of this plane of existence to find her.
she’s stumbled upon a few of the creatures, and once they attacked her, she whipped out her sawblade and tore them to shreds, easy peasy. “ hostile environment, too. what is this place ?? “ / @painsaws
super tiny small selective starter call ... hehe
oh HELLO
strap
okay im fuckin OUTTIE im done writin here for 2day
there’s science to be done!
god, this made them EXTREMELY ON EDGE, but they show no signs of fighting back, if anything ally was too afraid to really do anything when it came to the physical contact. “… ally nova.”
the mention of tests makes them take one step back, ears perking up as a way to show that they didn’t really like the idea, but felt like THEY HAD NO CHOICE. “i- i– i’m only willing to give hair and b- blood samples, but that’s it.” a pause, head tilting upwards. “a- anything else and i’ll leave.”
--- “ of course, of course ! you’ve got rights just as much as anybody else. i won’t overstep my boundary without explicit permission. “ for a moment, olivia observed the other before her. such a peculiar character indeed ... she hopes she finds interesting things ! a hybrid ! simply fascinating.
“ first thing’s first, however. i’m going to need you to sign something. it just shows that you’ve given your permission to allow me to take samples and run tests. it shouldn’t take more than a moment. now, if you’d come with me ! “
i.t. is people too
Damien squinted, instantly suspicious. She forgot? Was this what labcoats were usually like, or was she dodging the question in order to talk him into a corner because she’d figured out he was an infiltrator?
Laptop under his arm, (like having something in the corner of your mouth while talking) he signed back: ‘D-O-M-I-N-I-C L-E-E. I.T. department.’ A place like this had to have I.T. right? It would explain the laptop, and if she spotted him snooping on someone else’s computer, it would make sense.
--- I.T. ? had something gone awry again ? she figured she’d just have to reinforce her software on her own computer after this encounter. her sign language was a bit rusty, but she understood him perfectly fine. she didn’t have too much faith in her hands at the moment, however, seeing as she’d JUST had her fifth cup of coffee.
“ what’s the problem ? has there been a breach ? by all means, inform me as much as you’re willing. i’m sure i’ll be able to figure it out myself, if not. i only assumed you’d been snooping about unsupervised with ulterior motives. just my paranoia, i guess ! it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, mr. lee. you’re making your way around alright, i take it ? “
roses wilt.
Of all insult, of all potential wounds to be shot into her pride, the idea that this woman had never heard of her work or knew her name was the hardest. Point blank, it nearly broke her careful composure into one of offended surprise. Surely, Olivia was merely being deliberately difficult - after all, one would have to live under a rock not to hear about a pair of Andrew Ryan’s Best.
Logic reassured her that this was the case - though logic, in this sense, consisted of an insulted woman trying to convince herself mentally - and she softly huffed, the defensive manner of such a small action betraying her irritation.
“Perhaps you may not.”
It was petty. It was juvenile. It brought another sigh.
“But, if you must know, Rosalind Lutece. Quantum physicist, discovered and tore a hole in the multiverse. Nothing major compared to yet another Rapture scientist focused on genetic splicing, I’m sure.”
Sarcasm.
--- THE CHANGE OF THE ATMOSPHERE DIDN’T GO UNNOTICED. whether expressions remained blank and body language kept under wraps, the air of the conversation would ALWAYS be a dead giveaway.
which only made olivia grin more.
pushing buttons, whether intentional or not, was always so oddly entertaining. though, she would admit, sometimes she overstepped her boundary beyond repair, but any pickle that would get her in, she was always able to worm her way out of. well ... mostly.
“ you’re right, miss lutece. i am just another splicing scientist. but it does not strictly stop THERE, of course. i’m well versed in other things, too. “ standing, posture straight and overbearing, the woman strode over to close the gap between the two of them. “ you see ... “
in a blur, one of the four tentacles shot past rosalind’s head, purposely missing and causing a burst of air to flutter any loose hair. it may have been childish to do the intimidation act, but liv felt it was necessary. it settled against the woman’s shoulder, before another one came up closer to the lutece’s face, though did not touch. “ splicing your own genes is difficult, let alone incredibly unsuccessful. i may JUST be ‘another’ scientist in that department, miss lutece, but that does not pin me with the failures that were the ones before me. “
