“I’m good at everything I do,” he replied smoothly, grin wide. It was bullshit, but she didn’t have to know that. What he lacked in confidence, he made up for in arrogance. Though, it was easy to say that there was a lot about him that she’d yet to figure out. There were parts of himself that he wasn’t at all proud of and pieces of himself that he wanted to bury deep down for her never to find. He’d made choices that he was ashamed of, but he doubted that any of it mattered now. It wasn’t like she could change who the father was and while he still wasn’t sure how he felt about it all, he hated the thought of anyone else touching her. The mention of a bath made him smile weakly. He remembered the first bath she’d ever drawn for him. It’d been nothing more than a joke about him not fitting in the tub, but as luck had it, they’d both had no problem fitting in together. It was one of the many things they’d done while her parents were away for the day and it was surely just another moment that had led to her pregnancy in the first place. “Only if you’ll join me,” he hummed, eyes fluttering closed as she wrapped herself around him from behind. Softness wasn’t lost on him, but it was rare that he ever allowed someone this close. Most of the women he’d been with had been nothing more than a few good nights together, only for him to move on and forget about everything entirely. While he’d returned to Colorado and had fallen into bed with others, nothing could have erased Abigail from his mind. The moment she’d called him and told him about her situation, he’d immediately stopped the foolish act of randomly hooking up and had instead dedicated his time to her. “Sounds good,” he nodded, turning around to see that she’d gotten dressed in the brief time he’d been focused on doing the same. “You mind leading the way? I was totally bullshitting you earlier when I said I could find my own way around this place.”
Abi’s warm smile grew. “Oh, I have no doubt on that,” she said. Though to be fair, there was a lot of things that she didn’t know about him. Of course, she trusted him. There was no issue there about that. But the man she’s know and the man he is back home, how much did they coincide? The archaeologist was certain that he was still the same man there as he is here. But was there still things about him that he hasn’t told her all about yet? Maybe, maybe not. Yet she didn’t want to push him either. She wanted him to tell her when he’s ready, not just when she’s ready. And hopefully, he will. Ideally if there was a ‘deadline’, before the baby was born. So there’s still enough time. Chuckling, she kissed his shoulder and nodded. “I would love to. How do you feel about pomegranate-scented? I tried using that lavender and eucalyptus soap we’ve used before and it made me nauseous. Ironically.” For both things that were said to be calming and soothing, it seemed to have taken an opposite effect on the girl since becoming pregnant. She couldn’t stand either scent, quickly forming a headache and feeling sick whenever they were near her. Vanilla, sometimes it depends. Fruits, particularly citrus, mangoes (Egyptian and Indian ones mainly), and pomegranates, she was okay with. On one hand, it was so strange to see what she liked or didn’t liked or could tolerate right now during her pregnancy. There’s been some things from prior that she loved that she didn’t like right now, unfortunately; There’s been things that she use to detest that she found herself drawn to. Yet it was also fascinating. Though wanting to eat dirt for those first few months there was incredible weird still. Fortunately, they were able to find ways to give her iron and that calmed it all down. “I knew it!” she whispered jokingly, kissing his lips before taking his hand and leading him out. “You’ll find your way through eventually. I think it wasn’t until I was... eight? Maybe seven, when I did. This labyrinth of a place could be a museum of its own.”
