“What? Drabbles for me? Handler, you shouldn’t have!”
angelicaesthetix started following X
angelicaesthetix:
“Mhmm-” -and then Copy came to an abrupt stop, replaying the last few second’s worth of audio in his head. Had he just been called cute? Yes. Short-term recordings didn’t lie. If he’d been a cat, he’d have bristled. Instead, he sent X one hell of a miffed look.
“… Do refrain from calling me that.” He was not cute. He was the fierce leader of an entire city!–or that’s what he considered himself to be, at least.
Ixion continued on, humming faintly as if he hadn’t just been given a glare worthy of a dragon mechaniloid. “I am old, and you are not. Almost everything younger than I am is automatically cute.”
He gave the Copy a sly look. “Especially when they puff up like startled kittens.”
“I actually did not die.”
“.....Cubit did not tell people I was dead again, did he? He’s still in trouble with Max after last time.”

Which way, indeed. While he listened to the explanation being given, Copy took another quick look about to gain his bearings. “Recommendation noted, but I don’t think I will ever bother with portals beyond avoiding them once I learn how to sense them,” he grumbled, tactfully refraining from any commentary upon X’s age or how, if he cared to, he’d be able to get well acquainted with his own teleportation systems in a fraction of that time. He was an improvement, after all! Really!
“I came from this direction.” Saying nothing more, Copy turned left-ward and headed back the way he’d come from.
“That’s perfectly understandable. You probably shouldn’t be roaming unless you have a good reason,” he nodded, eyeing the Copy from the corner of his eye. Oh, he was adorable.
....Had he said that out loud? He had.
Ixion pretended he hadn’t called the little thing cute. Curse his weakness for youngsters. “Come along then.”
Tomorrow is my math final. Hopefully I’ll do well in everything, and, likely, I think this precalculus will be the hardest course I’ll ever have to take.
Aside from that, I’m back in the RP (and writing) game! My muses are elated. Except for Cappy. I kind of… nearly killed Cappy last time I moved his story forward on tumblr. -cough-
“Hello, hello!”
He was back. Sort of.
“One more week.”
((Yes, yes and then you’ll be free to terrorize people again))
“It’s always something with this human. First she was anxious about finals, and now she’s fretting over her health.”
((Shush, you, you’ll get to play again soon enough once I’m done with this semester and I’ve gone to a doctor =-=;))

Scary? There were denials that could have been made, but Copy - for once - kept them to himself, and listened. Not only was the information imparted to him nice to know, but it was also comforting, to a degree. He stored this new knowledge away before he gave a small nod of his own noggin.
“Yes.” There was a pause before he added a, “Please,” for if this X was going to be helpful, then it wouldn’t hurt to be a little more polite.
And perhaps it would guarantee the sating of his curiosity. “If some portals close… How do you find it entertaining?” Copy looked mildly puzzled, to say the least, unable to think of any reason behind himself it that seemed correct. It seemed like a horrible means of ‘entertainment’, to him. Especially for anyone in charge of a city. “Are you not worried about getting stranded someplace else?”
He was a little surprised by the polite response but didn’t let it show. “Alright then, which way did you come from? We’ll retrace your steps.”
Ixion tilted his head as he formed a response to that. It was a bit complicated. “Well, sometimes if you form strong attachments to something or someone in that world, you can go back to it. I learned how to teleport back regardless of whether I enter a portal, but, to do that, a portal has to be open somewhere to that world. It’s.... a complicated art, and I don’t recommend it unless you’re good with your internal teleporter.”
He puffed up slightly. “Being nearly three hundred years old, I am quite experienced with mine.”
“My handler is nearly done with summer semester. Luckily, you should all be seeing more of me soon.”
((And Cappy. And Septimus))
“No one even knows Septimus exists.”
((Don’t be mean to Sep, Xeph will get you))
“I am not, in fact, deceased. That was a feeble attempt at humor by my subordinate--
“......’Staggeringly old’? I am not staggeringly old.”
"Either somebody explains what happened /now/ or there will be fireworks. The bad kind."
Cubit had not been expecting visitors. But now he had a very distraught, intimidating visitor.
He wriggled in his chair–actually it was Ixion’s chair, his favorite with the delicate blue and cream patterns and the un-cushioned arms. “Ah, hello, Max, I was not… expecting you so soon.”
“Logic,” he said calmly. “He seemed comfortable to admit that you were dead and that he was taking your position even if you have children.”
“I think that was his bad attempt at a joke. I’ve been ignoring him, he’s mad. I’ll kill him later,” he grumbled. At least Cubit hadn’t announced it to all of Neo Arcadia.
....He hadn’t, right?

Max sat down beside him as if invited. “You looked dead. I had to make sure if you were dead from something I couldn’t fix before I went to kill him. I suppose his life is safe now.”
“Why would you kill him in the first place?” He queried, wearily dragging himself over so that his head was on Max’s thigh.

Ixion was alive.
Max visibly relaxed, and his countenance shifted from that creepy blank state to something more human. “Your dear Judge said that you were dead,” Max said pleasantly. “I should shoot him for scaring me like that, given that you are not.”
He wasn’t sure the other was okay, though.
Ixion patted the floor beside him, annoyed at having to listen to someone talk above him. “Oh. Maybe I looked dead. Maybe I am dead, I don’t remember going to my bedroom...”

Max let out a quiet sigh and kept his scanning on while he went to help him up; Ixion wasn’t dead at least, but who knew what shape he was in.
“You aren’t dead, then.”
“Noo, the floor is nicer, it doesn’t spin as much,” he grumbled, trying to curl up on the floor. The blond paused and squinted up at him with grey optics. At least, he thought that was where the voice was coming from. It was hard to tell with offlined optics.
“Am I dead? Am I supposed to be dead? How long was I asleep? Please tell me it’s the same year--I can’t pull off a ‘van’ name, I just cannot. Ixion van Light, it just does not....”

Max approached the X unit that was clearly not awake, checking his systems to see what the problem was and whether it was something that he could fix.
At the brush of a scan that was not his own, the blond jarred upright, optics grey, and promptly fell out of his seat and onto the floor.
Ow.

Max checked the bathroom first given that it was a smaller place to look. If Ixion wasn’t there, then he would head for the lab.
There was no X unit in the bath, but Max would find one curled up in a roller chair like a cat. His head was between his arms as they rested on the desk. Specifically on a datapad of schematics on the desk. His arms and head were making smudges over the formerly meticulous notes and design; he must have forgotten to turn off the editing before his.... nap?
He didn’t stir.
