I sitll find it hard to believe, honestly.
"The adjustment is never easy, I suppose" she murmured, "how are you though? I wasn't able to drop by Marlene's the other night. I had a shift. How are things?" she questioned quietly, she had missed the meeting but there was no way she could get out of a shift, she had tried to pass it off but everyone seemed to have plans of their own.

Leave it to Remus to make an utter fool out of himself; not to mention in front of Dorcas– of all people. The boy huffed a small laugh at himself; his face threatening to blush. Real smooth, Lupin.
Slowly he attempted to lift himself up from the floor; reaching out for assistance from a near by desk (oddly enough the same one which served as the culprit for his fall.) ”Alright? ‘ver felt better.” he joked, regaining his footing once more. Remus leaned back against the piece of furniture, and took a moment to gently rub a hand across the subtle ache in his neck. “Would you believe that I’ve experienced worse falls?” he grinned up to the girl sheepishly; completely embarrassed but trying to make light of the situation.
Noticing the lack of contrasting noise within the room, his green eyes glanced up to scan the library. From his experiences of spending most afternoons studying, it wasn’t unusual for the library to be slightly underpopulated. Though tonight it fell empty apart from the Ravenclaw and himself. “So, what’s keeping you here so late– or did you just stick around for the show?” he pointed to himself, returning Dorcas’s gaze, a genuine laugh slipping past his lips.
Madam Pince glanced up from her desk, her eyes heavily shadowed under the large hat she sported, and hissed a stern shhhh in the boy’s direction. He had almost forgotten she was there. Remus lifted his hand apologetically to the teacher, and mouthed an inaudible, “Sorry.”
The raven-haired woman replied with a soft nod before returning to her previous task. Why the woman ever had as much patience as she did regarding Remus, was a mystery. He was forever being followed into the library by his not-so-quiet friends. Study sessions that were interrupted by Sirius were the worst; sometimes Remus wondered if the boy remembered that there was a noise level to obey.
Doe took a step back providing him with room to gather himself up, the last thing she wanted to do was wound his ego by forcing her assistance upon him, a smile lingered upon her lips as she observed the boy, “you look quite alright” she teased quietly.
A chuckle fell from her lips as she peered at the embarrassed boy before her. Seeing him quite out of it was quite endearing and slightly amusing to her, he always seemed so put together while she was the bumbling idiot who had the tendency to ramble a bit too much while she was in his presence, “Remus, do you remember the fall I took in Potions the other week? I managed to knock down Severus’ potion in the process … I am in no place to judge” she laughed softly.
“It was the show. Definitely the show” she chuckled as she followed his gaze and looked about the empty library, “Transfiguration hasn’t really been my friend as of late and I needed to put in a few more hours” she murmured, a cringe soon following as Madame Pince’s 'shhh' ironically echoed throughout the library.
She didn’t even bother to look, a bit too scared to face the frightening look the woman must be sporting as Remus apologized. “So, what brings you here?” she questioned softly as she gestured for the boy to join her, away from Pince’s prying eyes and warnings.
How serious are they taking breaches of the Statute of Secrecy at the moment? Because I might’ve just terrified my brother-in-law by making a rabbit come out of his bowler hat. But, in my defense, he really should stop calling people magicians — especially given the current state of things.
"Lily, you should have known better. Don't be surprised if you receive an owl from them tonight! Don't you fret, I will visit you in Azkaban" she teased.
Y’know, I sort of miss Hogwarts already.
"Mar...tell me about it..." she muttered as a frown played at her lips, "I can't believe we won't be going back this September, it's surreal!"

Like most afternoons, Remus had found himself rummaging through a collection of books in the Hogwart’s library. After a few moments, which seemed to drag on entirely too long, the boy achieved the hard-back he had been searching for. A large book of potions decorated moss green, with intricate floral markings across it’s front cover. Anticipation consuming him; he instantly flipped open it’s pages and began searching through the alphabetical list of potions.
"Bulgeye. . Burn-healing . . Calming Draught!" he murmured to himself, his voice a quick whisper. Remus moved to make his way back towards the desk where he had left his roll of parchment and quill. His feet shuffled carefully, and his pace was slower than average for his eyes had yet to lift from the book’s aged yellow pages.
"Calming Draught is a potion intended to sooth the nerves of it’s drinker, and specializes in a––" The lanky lad caught his foot on the leg of a student’s desk chair and plummeted to the ground.The tumble was closer to comedic rather than acrobatic. His hands, too preoccupied with holding the book, were no help of breaking his fall. Instead he landed with his arms squished underneath himself, his fingers still latched onto the text, and his cheek pressed firmly into the open page. Remus drew in a sharp breath, and slowly his eyes began to water; not from the fall but from the toxic scent of the historic book.
With a guttural groan slipping past his gaped lips, he managed to roll off of his limbs and onto his side. A bit dazed, he had to blink his eyes multiple times before clarity returned. Pixilated forms of yellow and black slowly crossed back into focus; and once they did Remus instantly felt like kicking himself.
Dorcas Meadowes stood over the ungraceful lad, glancing down at him.
"Uh, hey, Doe." he chimed, trying to muster up his best grin despite the throbbing in his cheek.
Another month, another month and she was free from the constraints of school and the transfiguration essay that had her wanting to rip her hair out. The subject was lost on her, it was a miracle that she had received Exceed Expectations on her OWLs, merlin knew that if she even wanted to become a healer she’d have to work tirelessly, it was the primary reason why she often found herself in the library. It had become her second home, it was a miracle that Pince wasn’t chasing her off as of yet. She turned the page of her transfiguration book, nearly hissing as she nicked her finger, “well, isn’t that wonderful” she muttered as she eyed the reddening blotch on her finger, hastily fishing out a napkin as she pressed a bit of pressure on the little irritating spot as her mind wandered. Her year had been fulfilling, she was still in awe that she was merely a year away from leaving this place.
She had expected to feel happy and perhaps excited for what was in store for her outside of these walls but as much as she was happy to come extent, her heart clenched at the thought of leaving the school she had grown up in. There was so much more to do and all she could do was look forward to another year of memories and laughter with her friends. Perhaps she’d even be able to drag Emmeline out of the confines of their room, their last year would be one to remember and she wanted to spend as much time as she could with the people she adored and see a bit more of the bloke that recently seem to be consuming her time and waking thought. Her eyes shot up at the sound of footsteps and from what she could tell, muttering.
She stood up curious to see who was at the library at such an ungodly hour. Her look of apprehension and bewilderment soon turn to one of joy as she found herself peering over at Remus Lupin, “speak of the devil” she murmured amused as she shut her book and moved table ready to approach him when he … fell down. Doe bit down on her lip harshly as she muffled her laughter, quickly approaching the boy who took to the floor quickly. “Remus, are you alright?” she questioned with a small chuckle as she peered down at the boy rather worriedly, “you took quite the fall …” she trailed off with a giggle as she held out a hand for him to take.

You mean to tell me you’ve polished off every bit of this? What am I going to do with you, Doe? Yes, we can start with ice cream, and then we’ll move on to replacing the sweets you’ve managed to wipe out.
"Hey, it's not like I did it all in one day..." she exclaimed, a pout playing at her lips, "it was the stress, cleaning and boxing everything in our dorm rooms really got to me and well, I just ate .. a bit too much and now I don't think I will be able to touch anything we get for a week" she sighed. "That sounds lovely, now tell me ... how are you feeling? We have a meeting tonight" she muttered keeping her words quiet and only for Emmeline's ears.
"You alright there Doe?" the look of apprehension on her face made him put the parchment aside.
"I'm fine...sorry ... it's just nerves?" she muttered, "it feels so odd to not be in the castle, I guess. Everything just got very real"
What, how do we still have more to buy? For you, I always have time. Where do you want to start?
"Well... everything on this list is pretty much the chocolate that I've already finished" she muttered sheepishly. "This can wait but we can start at the ice cream parlor" she suggested with a grin.
Well, here we are. Should we go over the information then?
"I think that would be the best idea, a bit of revision wouldn't be the worst thing..." she muttered as the nerves began to settle in.
And what am I meant to do with that?
"It's the list of things that we still need buy! Please tell me you have time to get it done now?"
"Wh—What are you doing here?"
"Well, it's nice to see you too Marley" she huffed as she stood at the girl's doorway, she hadn't seen the girl in months. No owls or any form of contact and the only way she knew that she was indeed fine was from what Marcus had told her. Her eyes however soon widened as she eyed the girl's frame. Marlene had always been fit, the girl could eat whatever she wanted and her metabolic system would pick up, she was basically a stick but here she was before, not really looking like herself. "Marley?" she started unsure of what else to say as glanced back and forth between the bump and her eyes.
Got a fag? Turns out I didn’t have as many as I figured when I holed myself up here.
"Sirius, does it look like I'm the type to carry such a thing? she questioned amused, "yes, why are you here?" she questioned curious, the astronomy tower was her getaway.
Yes, I really just did. The more I have time to think on it, the more I realize how under-prepared I am for this change. Did you really just say that? You’re never going to let that one go, are you? If it will make you happy, I will put the book down for a bit and go to the kitchens with you. Sirius has been…a bit quiet lately. I’ve not seen too much of him, though that could be due to the amount of time I’ve spent holed away in the library or an old classroom. What about you, though? How are you and Remus doing?
"I don't think anyone is truly prepared for it, but I can promise you that you won't be alone. You have me and we can brave that terrifying world together" she assured softly as a small smile played at her lips. "How can I? It's far too amusing to let go" she teased with a wiggle of her brows. "Well, it seems like we're on the same front because I've barely seen Remus. There's the occasional seeing him in the hallway and giving him a hug before we go our separate ways to study. I really think we're hopeless when we attempt to study together so it's for the best but really, who knew that the marauders were such hard workers?"
The seventh and fifth years are awfully quiet. Are you all still breathing?
"Barely..." she murmured with a tired smile.
Luckily we’ve only…one more week. One more long, drawn out week, and then we’re free. Free to feel completely lost and swallowed alive by the great big world. Dorcas Madeline Meadowes, I will try to sleep. That doesn’t mean it’s likely to happen, though. Do you have any idea how much tea and coffee I’ve had today? I’m almost willing to bet I could find them. If not, I know where you keep your chocolate. Alright, alright. I will put the books away for a bit and get some cocoa. Will that appease you?
Her eyes widened as she broke out laughing, "did you really just say that?" she chuckled, "I've got to say that being swallowed alive by the great big world sounds horrifying" she added as she stood up. "Do you really need me to climb into your bed and ensure you sleep, because I will. I will even sing that lullaby you love" she teased with a wink. "That will appease me greatly, we have much to speak about. How about we start about you lover boy? How has Sirius been? I've yet to see him about but then again, this room has been my little getaway, I suppose" she shrugged with a grin as she looped her arm through the girl's and headed out the room.
