kicking the dog || sirius & evan || November 1976
There was no hiding the fact that Evan was searching the castle for Sirius, just like there was no hiding the fact that the Marauders were no more. Best of all, it was his wretched second cousin who was on the outs.
The whole school knew the famed foursome had a falling out. From what Evan knew about Sirius (quite a bit, thanks), James (considerably less), and Lupin (meh), he hazarded to guess that it was Sirius who fucked up. At the very least, he was the one the others seemed to be most angry with.
The following was what Evan had gleaned from sharing a dorm with Severus: Sev was involved, somehow, was visibly upset, and was more tight-lipped about it than a muggle’s marble statue.
The truth of what happened was a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, but it was a riddle Evan could use. He would take this mysteriously gift-wrapped box of riddles and use it to beat Sirius with. Metaphorically, of course. Evan would never sink so low as to strike another wizard with a present.
Stepping outside, Evan turned a corner, deviating from the path, and found who he was looking for. Of course, it wasn’t entirely a happy accident. Evan had asked around, put some feelers out, and well, ask and ye shall receive. He smiled terribly. People like Sirius and he did not smile as a show of harmlessness. They bared their teeth.
“So what happened?” he asked, sauntering, no, gliding, toward Sirius. He came to a stop directly in front of his former best friend. Suddenly, his whole demeanour changed. Voice quiet and tender, he said, “If you ever need someone to talk to, don’t come to me; I know firsthand how it feels to lose a best mate. Betrayal hurts. But you’re really good at that, aren’t you?” Evan gave Sirius a reassuring smile (no teeth) and pat him gently on the shoulder.
Evan took a step to his left, Sirius’s right. Then another. It was a steady pace, step, step, in time with his own heartbeat. “Let me guess: you did something that made your friends realise you’re a Black through and through.”
“Want to know how I know it’s you who fucked up?” Evan took a step closer to Sirius. In a harsh stage whisper, he said, “Because you’re the only one with a history of turning on friends.” He straightened up and returned his tone to normal. “Potter and Lupin and Pettigrew are steadfast. But you?” Evan simultaneously chuckled softly, shook his head, and bit his lip. “No such luck.”
“So what happened?” he asked casually, lighting a cigarette. “You can tell me; after all, I’m the only person in your life who has never run as fast as they can away from you after seeing what’s truly in your soul.” Evan’s lips twitched upward as he stifled laugh. “Well, your mummy doesn’t run, does she?”

insidious // Sirius & Evan
Evan had long ago figured out how to pretend to be normal. Usually he could conjure a convincing smile almost as easily as a feather. Pretending wasn’t always option, however. Sometimes the heaviness of his life grew too burdensome to ignore. To make matters worse, he could feel his control slipping. The thing he kept locked up inside thrashed against its cage, desperately clawing at his heart as it begged to be released. Letting it out - giving in to his urges - would certainly fix his little mood problem. Maiming always seemed to alleviate some of his misery. It was just so exhausting to pretend to be someone he was not day in and day out. The more unhappy he was, the stronger his urge to hurt was and the weaker his willpower was. Sleep was elusive the worse things got. He lied awake most nights, desperate for the relief dreamless sleep would provide. Horrible, horrible thoughts rushed through his head. What if you hurt her? A voice would taunt. Nobody trusts you.
Drugs usually made the insidious insecurities subside. The more out of his mind he was, the less he felt the need to maim. The thing deep inside of himself didn’t retreat back into its cage when he self medicated, but the urges certainly subsided. His hands stopped shaking, if just for the night.
There were only so many places in London a pureblood could to go to get certain party favors. The treats the establishment offered were insidious enough in their own right. Harmful but enticing, the substances awaited a chance to entrap even the most worldly of men. Add on his little mood problem and the whole situation became a horribly specious pattern of behavior. Well, he thought darkly, I always have had a weakness for the deceptively attractive things in life.
Evan was alone in the bathroom when he heard someone enter. Looking up, he saw none other than Sirius Black.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” he breathed. “What are you doing here, Sirius?”

frank couldn’t help himself or the shit eating grin that was at his lips, “don’t you look pretty” he teased, taken back by the boy in the suit, it took him a moment to recognize him, “nearly didn’t recognize you, mate”
escapingazkaban reblogged your post and added: “Would you look at that.”
Sirius’s eyes trailed to a single plastic bag...
Oh Jesus Christ.
The Intervention [Sirius & Emme]
Emmeline rarely got involved in messy situations that weren’t her own -- she went out of her way to steer clear of the idiocy but she wasn’t too fond of the idea of watching Marlene cry and her little toxic tango with Sirius had been going on for far too long -- it was time for an intervention. She thought she had fixed it -- that everything was fine, Marley even listened to her and went out of her way to fix things with Sirius but he mucked it up and if she was going to give anyone hell -- it was him. That was the brief explanation that was playing on loop in her mind as she waited for the boy to return to his dorms, cross legged she sat on his bed fiddling about with her wand wondering if she was going to have to hex him.
I've been back a few days and so far I'm glad to say I haven't lost anything. This has to be some kind of record for me.

I should not be doing this. I should not be here. I should not even care. Fuck fuck..But someone hurt him...they hurt him and I wasn't even quick enough to stop it.
[She knew it was a bad idea but she went anyways. She wrapped herself in a throw that only came down to her ankles when it once would have trailed on the floor behind her and disapparated to a church she knew well. They'd all snuck in and played there before afterall. Reveling in the double rebellion of sneaking out and going into a muggle church. She sat down on one of the pews almost wearily kicking at one of those silly song books and waited until she heard a noise.]
Sirius? Is that you?
