It’s so funny and very hypocritical how people on Twitter feel as though Joan is not a good lesbian representative because she hasn’t had ‘screen time’ to prove this. You do understand that she could potentially be asexual. But yet, by you saying that someone cannot be a lesbian without actively conveying their sexuality is invalidating all the people that are asexual with romantic attractions towards the same gender. Just because Bea has suddenly become a hot lesbian; people assume she’s ‘more of a lesbian’ than Joan. Which can I say, Joan Ferguson is one of TV’s most iconic and legendary lesbian fictional characters, she’s famous for that. Funny thing is, Bea turned gay 5 seconds ago, oh yeah, definitely not cause she obtained a life sentence and is in a women’s prison. Jesus, you guys need to think a bit more before throwing around your trashy and invalid opinions.

And If I may remind you all again, Wentworth is a remake of PCBH in which Officer Joan Ferguson had a lot of screen time ‘showing of her lesbianism’. So when they introduce a character in Wentworth, realise some basic facts. I mean, I know sometimes it’s based very loosely around the plot, but they aren’t going to suddenly make the most famous lesbian on the show heterosexual. I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall.
