I remember making a post like this before but I can’t find it now.

This blog is 11 years old.

My entire ugly adolescence is documented here.

It’s tender stuff.

And I wrote a lot of problematic things. Used language I would never dream to use today.

If you are here on my blog, if you are looking for what is ugly, you will find it.

And I sincerely apologize for my words and sentiments, all the worst of it posted when I was younger than 15. A child. I’m sorry for harm caused, for feelings hurt. I know better now.

Actually, I think I’ll keep tumblr forever. This is nine years of my life in here. I can visit any age version of myself anytime I want. And learn from her. Wow !!

I’m installing my work in a gallery for the first time today. For at least a year now I’ve been getting ready for this moment, and it’s been such an unpredictable journey. I would have never imagined, just a few years ago, that my art practice would take form the way it is now. Weaving?? Writing? Book making? Ceramics? Installation??? I would have never guessed I’d go here when I was sitting in my entry level photo classes. I’m so grateful it’s happening this way. I’ve woven a 25 foot tall column out of indigo yarn I dyed myself. I made a book with my original writing and original photography. Inside of the woven form, the book invites visitors to write their own story on its pages using pencils which sit in a ceramic column I threw. There’s a chair with an indigo slip cover I dyed, where a viewer can sit with the work and read and write. There’s a deep blue rug at the base of it all, helping to create a space of warmth and comfort. My written material is 12 pages of letters written to the ocean. The book sits on top of a drawer (which has an indigo wrapped handle) and in the drawer sleeps a mound of seashells. Today I’ll be scissor lifted to the ceiling of the gallery to hitch my work to a beam. My tumblr is nine years old and aging. I wish this post could reach me that long ago, so I’ll imagine it does
