Hi!! Ok sooooo I have a question I'm deeply curious about and I really wanted your thoughts on this!! Why do you think 1tl Kishiar never cleared up Yuder's bad reputation rumors and simply let people slut shame him?? Was that a test from him to see how Yuder would respond? Or something else??

From what we know of Kishiar's capabilities and knowledge, he should have been able to redirected the rumors about Yuder in some other direction. If it were 2TL Kishiar, he probably would have found some way to spread a different kind of rumor in order to redirect the people's attention no matter the cost to his own reputation (courtesy of Spazthemagicbeanstalk's Iris and Anemone fanfic series. You guys should read it. It's really good). If we're not going to take in the possibility that this is purely an author error, than I have a couple of thoughts about why he would do this.
1) Rather than a test, it might have been Kishiar attempting to train Yuder to deal with rumors through his own abilities. From what we know of Kishiar's teaching methods in the 1TL, he sometimes had a very indirect way of schooling Yuder, much to Yuder's chagrin. This was specifically true when it came to tactical decision. He wanted Yuder to understand the importance of certain strategies through his own experiences, which decisively happens when Yuder upholds his duties as Commander later in his life. Yuder himself had said that what ultimately helped him survive as a commander was Kishiar's teachings.
"However, he couldnβt deny that the things he was forcibly taught by that man enabled Yuder Aile to survive this far" (Chp. 307).
So while Kishiar might have wanted to clear up the rumors himself, perhaps he wanted Yuder to be able to find a way to deal with rumors circulating around him without using violence. This was especially true when Yuder continued to beat down people who insulted him, and Kishiar continuously tried to councel Yuder to not deal with these aggravations through force. After all, Kishiar probably knew that as a commander, Yuder would need to continue to deal with rumors in the future and needed Yuder to have an arrangement of different responses to deal with unsavory rumors. Unfortunately, it seemed as though this aspect of Yuder never truly took Kishiar's advice to heart. While he is less aggressive(?) in the 2TL, the 1TL seems to suggest Yuder still used full force to deal with problems and never truly addressed rumors about him, even if they were outlandish.
2) He saw no reason to address the rumors seeing as they wouldn't change the fact that Yuder would be his successor. This seems like the cruelest possibility for Kishiar to even consider, but as a reminder, his mental capabilites and health were at an all time low. Rather than investing in Yuder's emotional state, he probably would have been far more invested in making sure Yuder would be able to stand on his own and protect himself even after his death. Right up until Yuder arrived to kill him, Kishiar didn't even know that Yuder loved him back. I doubt he would've analyzed Yuder's other emotions, seeing as that all of them were negative. Consistently feeling Yuder's negative emotions through their connection may have dulled his capacity to soothe Yuder's anger and frustration. Perhaps, his capacity to emphathize with Yuder's situation may have been at an all time low. Kishiar was used to having an abysmal reputation. Maybe he believed that, with time, Yuder would need to be able to handle such malice as well. Kishiar knew better than anyone how cruel noble society could be after all. He needed Yuder to survive without him, regardless of who thought badly of Yuder.
3) He may have needed another reason for Yuder to dislike him and distance himself from Kishiar. Kishiar, while ultimately a logical tactician, is an emotionally driven individual. So while his plan in the 1TL to have Yuder kill him may have been the lesser of all other evils, it ultimately was a very flawed plan. Kishiar, similarly to his brother, distanced himself from the object of his affections in order to deafen the anguish of his death. Keilusa, while his vessel was broken, purposely sent Faria away in order to ensure her safety and to lessen her grief in the possibility of his death. Similarly, by not addressing the rumors, Kishiar may have given another reason for Yuder to feel less horrible when he did come to kill him. However, despite Kishiar's lack of clear responses and emotional walls built up in his attempt to distance himself from Yuder, he still chose to visit Yuder very often in order to find comfort. He contradicted his own plans because of his inability to completely detach from Yuder.
Kishiar is also someone who gets tunnel vision very easily as an individual who overthinks every possibility. His brain's capacity to thing through every possible scenario is a double edged sword. Such overthinking led him to attempting to break their connection, assuming that his death may lead to Yuder's. In a sense, he was right. While Yuder didn't physically die with Kishiar, his emotions were killed off along with Kishiar.
I would say Kishiar's intentions may have been some sort of the mix of these three. I find tragedy in the fact that, depsite all of Kishiar's meticulous planning in the worst possible situation, Yuder managed to dismantle all of Kishiar's attempts to preserve his safety. Even with his intentions to make Yuder hate him and eventually live freely, Yudrein never forgot Kishiar, even as his emotions and memories were taken away with Kishiar's death. Despite setting up a future for Yuder to eventually leave the Arcane Legion at some point, Yudrein managed to destroy Kishiar's expectations by staying with the Legion up until his death. In his attempts to preserve what was left of Kishiar, Yudrein was used as a disposable tool by Katchian, and eventually totutured and executed in the worst possible way. After all, Kishiar's plans never took into consideration of the love Yuder had for him.
"In front of Yuder, his convictions meant absolutely nothing." (Chp. 1255).
