Turning Big Bang/Reverse Bang Q+A
We will compile answers to all the questions from the interest check here! If you have additional questions please send us a tumblr ask!
Q: Would someone with no prior experience doing something like this be allowed to join?
Yes! New writers/artists/betas are all welcomed and encouraged to join!
Q: Are you going to make a discord channel?
A: Yes, there will be a temporary discord server for this event that we will require participants to join to make initial contact with their partners easier. We have also found that having a supportive discord community generally helps writers/artists complete their projects so we hope this will be a good hub for participants to get help with whatever they may need for support.
The discord will also be open to non-participants/cheerleaders but they will not have access to some participant channels and will not be able to see some things like the summaries/sketches for matching
Q: Will the event allow NSFW work?
A: Yes, all works will be allowed as long as they include proper tags/warnings in their summary. We will allow participants under 18 to join, but they will not be given access to summaries marked NSFW. Other participants may also request they not be matched to anyone under 18 in case they are unsure if their work will go in a NSFW direction in the future or they are just uncomfortable with that.
Q: Will there be a pinch hitter?
A: Yes, participants can indicate they are willing to do an additional pinch hit or join only as a pinch hitter
Q: - Regarding the check-in requirement, I usually write a lot more near the deadline like I might write the outline and some parts throughout the week, but >50% of the writing is usually done about 2-3 weeks before the deadline. So, I'm asking if the requirement check-in is reinforced or as long as we made progress and still interested in the event, it's still okay?
A: The check-in requirements can be waived as long as both author and artist are comfortable with the status of the project, they are more of a suggestion than a hard requirement. That being said, if your artist is uncomfortable with most of the project only being done 2-3 weeks before the deadline/not having enough to work with by the time of a check-in, then this would be a good time for them to communicate that this pairing may not work and we will do our best to re-pair with a pinch hitter
Q: how do we know who's work we're gonna beta-read- will it matched or not? also, where will the others post their summary or sketches? that's all
A: Writers will have the option of requesting a beta-match or opting out/bringing their own pre-arranged beta.
If they request a beta-match, we will ask them what they are looking for in a beta (spelling/grammar, specific knowledge of some field, just someone to bounce ideas off of, etc) and we will also have a matching period for writer-betas where betas can look through writer summaries/beta-needs and submit their preferences of which writers they want to/don't want to beta for and we will match.
Writers/Artists will submit their summaries/sketches via google form, which will be compiled and anonymized by mods and posted later in a document for people to look through when submitting matching preferences. This document will be sent via email/discord to the participants.
Q: please no first come first serve when it comes to claiming!
A: No worries our claiming system is based on a matching algorithm that prioritizes making the most number of high-priority matches! So you can be relaxed when submitting your claiming preferences
