itβs important to mention, this soul takeover is not sayla. it isnβt a fully formed separate entity - itβs simply a very strong manifestation of the core impulses &Β feelings of sayla. while a person, even a demon, would be able to regulate &&Β restrain themselves - a soul cannot. sayla as a person had relationships &&& feelings towards people - a soul does not carry those over. itβs the base desire of oneβs being. not a complete person.Β
so without further ado... lets get into it.Β
SAYLA SOUL
SAYLA is by far the strongest of mirajaneβs takeoverβs. not just in a sense of magical ability - but in terms of influence. sayla is loudΒ & very dominant. the fragile peace that mira had begun to build with her souls, the give && take she was navigating her way through before the tartarous arcΒ β is all but obliterated once sayla enters the picture.Β
THERE are a great number of factors in why the sayla soul is so potent. the first of which being demon souls are naturally among the strongest take overs one can absorb, in some cases their souls can linger centuries unless taken care of. miraβs prior souls all had been dead for at least decades before she encountered them, so her absorbing saylaβs soul while sayla herself was still alive is a drastic change.Β also, sayla as a living demon, was INCREDIBLY powerful, a leader amongst her kind.Β
Β WHICH leads to her presence stirring up an innate subordination among the demon souls mira already has, following in saylaβs desires to please her as per their instincts. mirajane is no longer the given authority. it becomes an almost constant battle forΒ βalphaβ among the demons &&& not the kind of battle won by physical strength.Β
ITβS mirajane having to, day after day, mentally force sayla into submission & she doesnβt always win. the battle isnβt just for who the rest of the demon souls will fall in line with, but for little things, little actions. sayla, when untamed, is a constant stream ofΒ βhe touched you, remove his hand.β &&Β βshow your friends whoβs really in charge, show themΒ you can kill them,βΒ or of courseΒ βwe can makeΒ them kneel, no one can say no to you.βΒ
SAYLA is a dark, cruel, vindictive &&& power hungryΒ devil on the shoulder. itβs miraβs own stubbornness, her own brand of petty vengeful & spite that allows her to, for the most part, swallow down those impulses. but it is not a battle easily won && mira legitimately slips up sometimes. mostly, so far, itβs been smaller things. sheβll snap too hard, forget to pull a punch or two, etc.Β
THE real danger arises in that while her energy is focused so intently on suppressing saylaΒ β the other demon souls can slip past her defenses. sanda pushes her to an especially risky maneuver in a fight, kusu starts to hoard trinkets possessively, sitri threatens some bandits with an especiallyΒ terrifying rhetoric. mirajane goes too far, sometimes, as herself. patience but a thin thread, dangerously close to breaking some days.Β
MAGICALLY speaking mira has the potential to use the macro curse in its entirety, though any abilities granted soley to saylaβs Etherious form are impossible for her. as mirajane herself has no etherious in her body. but she can use the telekinesis associated with saylaβs macro curse, as well as order people to do what she says.Β
THEΒ new ability both frightensΒ Β &&& excited mirajane. frightens her because, especially with saylaβs voice in her head, it is very, very easy to succumb to the temptation to overusing, or going too far, with the skill. but it excited her because it is powerful, thereβs a rush sheβs never felt with being able to control someone so completely. & demon or not - mirajane does love feeling powerful.Β
IN the year break where fairy tail was disbanded, mira was able to regain a somewhat stable control. she still has bad days, but not everything is a monumental struggle like it was in the beginning. sayla soul has the beginnings of a grudging respect for miraβs iron will && her own darker tendencies.Β
but itβs not perfect, itβs not without struggle &&& mira knows that if she lessens up not a single of the demon souls she harbors within herself would hesitate to destroy. so she canβt, not now, not ever.Β

lucy thanked every star in the sky when mira had mentioned coffee. and the fact she brewed some. miraβs coffee (and it wasnβt just the brand, this lucy knew because she had weakly tried to imitate it at home) was the BEST. if there was ever a coffee contest, lucy would be the judge and declare mirajane strauss the winner. she would be biased, of course becauseβit was mirajane. but. that was fine.
and then, mirajane did that thing. that thing where, if it were someone else, lucy would call flirting. but it wasnβt, was it? that didnβt stop the pink that dusted her cheeks, or the fact that she almost jumped from her chair. the blonde let out a slight, maybe hysterical giggle, companied with a smile βoh haha!! thank you. i will take some coffee. wouldnβt want to let you down!!βΒ
an old age question: should she flirt back? would it be weird if she did? the questioned halted her so she Did Not and just smiled.Β βi could and should write poetry about your coffee.β there! that wasnβt weird. (natsu was right. she was a weirdo.)
MIRA had always found herself drawn more towards the edge, found sharp corners & rough skin appealing in a person. she couldnβt cut someone who was already bleeding. but there was an appeal to lucy that was undeniable. a earnestness that mira couldnβt help but want directed at her.Β
EVEN if she was never allowed to touch, mira still was able to savor this pleased amusement that beat through her chest.Β βYouβre too good to me,β she teased, cautious with the thread of truth sown into the words. then, recalling what she had taken realized this morningΒ β mira figured she could return the favor, at least a little.Β
LEANING forward over the bar, her feet rising from the ground ever so slightly as she got close enough to lucy that no one would overhear && then closer still, mira whispered,Β βI also have it on good authority that the last slice of those banana bread loafs lisanna &&& I made is going to my favorite patron with her morning coffee,βΒ
PULLING away & dutifully ignoring the soft plop her heels made when they landed back on the floor, she winked conspiratorially, before heading to the back to fetch lucyβs order.Β Β
"mira." the blonde sat down right in front of the other. as always it was her thing ever since she Joined. she always delighted in speaking with mira, for various reasons. "how is it possible to be tired and awake at the same time? that's how i feel. do i drink coffee or like, nap?" it was a Serious question.
MIRA cared for all of her guildmates, in one way or another. sheβd grown up with most of them. the inevitable bond of years spent in each others company, she supposed, was responsible for some of it - but mira was able to enjoy her work as a barmaid at fairy tail, for the most part.Β
THROUGHOUT the day there certain highlights she especially looked forward to. like the delivery man that came on thursdays, with the nice voice & pretty eyes, or that very last hour of the day when the members had cleared out && she got the whole place to herself or, wellΒ β lucy.Β
βdrink coffee.β mira answered, unhesitating.Β βI just started brewing some, so youβre in luck.βΒ
THERE was a levity to her voice, a playful suggestiveness that mira used day in &&& day out. she was known for her frivolous flirting, but perhaps she found aΒ special enjoyment in the particular shade of pink that dusted over lucyβs cheeks.Β well, there was no harm in it. not really.Β βOf course I could be bias. a nap would deprive me of your company && Iβm already enjoying it.βΒ
