the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.

popular online trans guy who's been low key dropping transmisogynistic dog whistles for months outs himself as a full transmisogynist, dismisses transfeminism as "pointless online discourse", and acts like he's the victim when people point out that he's misgendering trans women. who could've seen this coming. personally at this point I can't say I really trust any TME people who talk about trans issues but aren't openly transfeminists. cause too many people are able to hide their horrible views with just the thinnest veneer of "everyone is valid" platitudes up until they're finally given the go-ahead to perpetuate bigotry for their own gain.
a lot of guys think they don't have privilege over trans women but if you can so easily dismiss transmisogyny and transfeminism as online issues that don't affect the real world, if you can so easily set the "discourse" down and stop thinking about it, if these terms and the theories they represent are nothing but word games to you, then that itself is perhaps proof of your privilege.
a lot of guys like to be like "I don't have privilege over trans women. TME is a hurtful label. anyway I'm going to Exempt myself from TransMisogyny discussion now and go about my day in intentional blissful ignorance, the way everyone can since we're all the same and none of us are actually Affected by anything, right?"

really dont like any attempt to frame transitioning, medical or otherwise, as gender conformity. altering your physiology in the face of structures which not only restrict that but try to convince you thats impossible is not conforming to gender.
"not transitioning is gender non conforming" is based in the same logic as "trans women reinforce regressive ideas about what it means to be a woman" but the former is worded in a way amenable to trans people so it goes unquestioned.
