Bought myself a fresh bouquet of white peacocks and pink chrysanthemums just because they make my heart so happy. And yes, my favorite ballet flats had to make an appearance ˚˖𓍢ִ໋🦢˚🩰
I grew up watching the 2010 version of The Karate Kid. Like, when I was a kid, I watched it almost every single year because it was always on TV. Especially with the song Never Say Never by Justin Bieber feat. Jaden Smith, which was a massive hit back then. Yeah, I used to be a low-key Belieber when I was a kid, haha.
But I remember seeing my mom watching a different version of The Karate Kid with a completely different cast. I was so young at the time, maybe around 9 or 10? So I had absolutely no idea that an OG Karate Kid even existed. When I asked my mom, she was like, "This is the version of The Karate Kid I grew up with." And I remember how my mom looked at one of the characters that make her face literally lit up like she was staring at her ultimate crush every time he showed up on screen. I mean, I remembered thinking the guy was kinda cute, but I wasn’t really interested, so I just shrugged it off and moved on.
Back to 2024, somehow out of nowhere, I suddenly wanted to watched The Karate Kid (1984). And honestly? Best decision ever. I can't believe I only watched the OG version after all this time! Also, everything makes sense now, like why the 2010 version is titled "Karate" even though they actually teach Kung Fu 😭
Anyway, just a few minutes into the movie, I thought like "waittt... isn't this the guy my mom was staring at like he’s the LOML???" And well... I'm officially obsessed with Daniel LaRusso too. Like, he went from being my mom's crush to my crush 😣 He’s fine, yes, but I adore his character too. He’s so kind and gentle, like every time I see him, I'm just like, "Oh, he is just a babyyyy 🥺." His brunette hair, his bambi eyes, his cute face... and that scene where he bites his fingernails at the tournament because he's nervous? Aarghhhh!!!
Plot-wise, it’s not that different from the 2010 version, so it was pretty predictable from the start. But still, I enjoyed watching it so much. Not just because of Daniel himself, but because of Johnny Lawrence and Mr. Miyagi too. I started looking up Daniel LaRusso on TikTok and believe me guys, at that time my entire repost was just all about him.
Then I watched the whole trilogy, and out of the three movies, The Karate Kid Part II is my favorite. When they finally go to Okinawa, and Mr. Miyagi explains his past and his culture like it was just so heartwarming to watch. Especially with a new character, Kumiko. Oh, she is such an angel! I shipped Daniel and Kumiko so hard. Their chemistry was insane, and I got so mad later on when I saw Daniel with a new girlfriend in the next movie :/
Eventually, I also discovered the Cobra Kai series. Oh god, I am SO late to the party. How did I just find out about all of this two years ago?? But anyway, I ended up liking this series too. Honestly, I love Johnny Lawrence's character so much more here because we actually get to see his perspective on why he turned out the way he did.
I still love the 2010 Karate Kid with Jaden Smith because that’s the movie I grew up with, but yeah... I absolutely understand why the OG version with Ralph Macchio hits different and is way more memorable.
So, I watched The Backrooms in theaters on June 10th. Of course, I just wanted to see how they would adapt the whole Backrooms concept into a horror movie. But somehow... I ended up completely losing my mind over Bobby. OMG HE IS SO FINEEE! The blonde hair? A short king in a crop top??? I'M SAT.
But deep down, I knewww he wasn't going to make it far, and yep... he was the first one to die. I literally thought to myself, "Wait, the rope is still attached to his shorts!" And I was right! they couldn't untie the knot in time, and poor Bobby got dragged right back down by the Captain Clark entity huhu 😭
The scene where Kath tries so hard to pull Bobby back up while he begs her not to let go... and they just lock eyes? Absolute heartbreak. And then, when Kath falls down too and screams "BOBBY!" calling out for her boyfriend who was already covered in blood... ohhh, I literally couldn't take it anymore. Turns out Kath didn't survive either in the end. What a tragic couple:(
Oh, Bobby... the man that you are. He was honestly such a fun character, especially since he was basically high during the whole Backrooms expedition LMAO. Both Kath and Bobby deserved so much better!
Anyway, I've been looking up Bobby’s actor, Finn Bennett, and I think... I love him haha >< I’m definitely going to check out his other works now, starting with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
So, I have a new obsession. A couple of days ago, I just started watching Smallville because this handsome man kept popping up on my Netflix feed (I’m talking about Tom Welling, by the way). I went into it blindly, without even knowing it was a Superman series 😭 The only Superman I’ve ever watched was the 2025 movie, which I absolutely loved.
Turns out, Smallville is actually pretty good! I mean, sure, sometimes the acting or the plot makes zero sense, but hey, it’s fiction and it was made back in the 2000s, so whatever. And honestly, I don't think it's just because of how good-looking Tom Welling is in the show. The other actors make the story super interesting too—from Clark and Lana's romance (though I’m starting to get a bit bored since he literally talks about Lana in every single episode, haha), his friendship with Chloe and Pete, to Lex, the fresh 'monster-of-the-week' villains, and obviously the family dynamic between Clark, Jonathan, and Martha.
Oh, and I absolutely love every single scene with Jonathan and Clark... daddy issues, haha! I’m still only on season 1, but I know there are going to be so many more subplots and new characters coming up, so I’m really excited to finish this series!
