Coach Boone is arguably the greatest coach ever. He DEMANDED perfection and his players were not satisfied until they reached perfection.

Here Come the Irish
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGHdeEXH7js
Is this “Here Come the Irish?” I asked at 7:30am on September 1st. Why, yes, yes it was…waking me up for the first of twelve spectacular Game Days in 2012. Is it possible to play on repeat for four hours a day without getting sick of Cathy Richardson? Of course; in fact, Here Come the Irish is the ONLY way to enjoy Game Day.
GO IRISH. BEAT BAMA.

Rudy Theme Music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-09ayPX_KVs (1:50)
While 2012 provided many heart-stopping moments, none were as terrifying as the entirety of the Pitt Game. ND media officials in the booth, hoping to unite the student body, chose to play the Rudy Theme at quite an inappropriate time. The senior section was practically in tears over the perfect season seemingly slipping away from us and we committed a sin: we booed Rudy. Three overtimes later, the intercoms blasted Rudy once more and we cheered and screamed and cried and hugged; THAT was the appropriate time.

We Are Never (Ever) Getting Back Together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA4iX5D9Z64
As many of you head out to Miami to see the game, I know you’ll be cranking T-Swizzle on your iPods on the road trips and flights to the Promised Land. See you all at Finny’s during Syllabus Week.

3rd Quarter Break

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joVZ0UYgwqE
Seeing as we’re ¾ of the way through the countdown, I thought we’d take a break for the usual 4th quarter happenings. First we play The 1812 Overture, a catchy tune accompanied by an incorrect sign language “K” to honor Coach Kelly. Then, yours truly, Officer Tim McCarthy of the Indiana State Police (basically the Lou Holtz of police officers). I wish he was director of the Excise Police, I’d definitely think twice about engaging in illegal activities.

All I Want for Christmas Is You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXQViqx6GMY
I lied when I said the holidays were over. Nothing screams ND tailgating like a car blasting this tune in the middle of September. I’m also really upset that graduating means that next Christmas, my co-workers won’t understand why I play this song on repeat starting after Halloween. At every. Possible. Moment.

The Notre Dame Victory March
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAkhZT4k4NY
The Holidays are officially over. Time to focus on The Game just days away. It’s almost appropriate to start counting down in hours instead of days. Of all the renditions of the song, this is one of my favorites because this is exactly how the senior section sounds during the first quarter while we are still in tailgating mode.

Today marks the first day of 2013, the year in which I will graduate Notre Dame. Twenty-seven seniors on the football team will also join the Class of 2013 on stage and we will sway to the Alma Mater one last time as undergrads together in just 5 short months. Here’s to Notre Dame, Our Mother.

Party tune for your NYE. Also a fabulous, modern tradition that is usually the best part of the third quarter. Thanks to the Band for making every game exciting and entertaining. Although I do miss the pirate costumes during “WE ARRRRR N D”

Marching Band Halftime Show
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGE4aCcLB-c
It’s nearly halftime and you finally realize that you are not even close to being in your assigned row and that your ticket group is not with you and most likely lost forever because they either: a) were captured by NDSP and put in the drunk tank or b) still in the tailgate lots trying to find one more beer to put in their pocket c) still in line at Gate E or d) went out the wrong door of the women’s bathroom and have been searching the sophomore section for 2 quarters. Oh well, enjoy the show!

No victory is sealed without a visit to the Backer and no visit to the Backer is complete without closing out the place with this song. Any night at the Backer must also include Walking on Broken Glass, Baton Rouge, Wagon Wheel, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, I’m On a Boat and the Wobble. Oh yea, and popcorn.

Bon Jovi/Journey- Don’t Stop Believing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfUYuIVbFg0
In pumping up the student body for MSU 2011, Leprechaun Michael George told us all to do like Bon Jovi and “Don’t Stop Believing.” Here’s to Bon Jovi, Ok Go, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Swift, Regis Philbin, Lil Wayne and all the other celeb Irish fans out there (and also to Anonymous Donor) (and obviously Journey).

Crazy Train
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwlR_6yq9OA
Crazy Train…because what else can get you pumped? I mean, in the 2011 USC game (the first game to include music over the loudspeaker), I’m pretty sure it was the only song to play and thus I was a bit dazed by the beginning of 2012. Eventually, though, we all realized that it was Crazy Train and Crazy Train alone that would make the stop on 3rd down….that and our spectacular defense.
So, enjoy the intro on loop for as long as you please...

12 Days of Football
As I will be traveling for the next few weeks and thus will miss the epicness that will be Miami on January 7th, I thought I would create my own countdown so I can stay included in the action. From now until Gameday, enjoy the musical numbers I so thoughtfully put together. Each day has a specific theme or thought to get you pumped for the game.
