Cold Comfort
Adapted from a recipe from John Stanton of Sable.
1½ oz Evan Williams bourbon ½ oz pineapple juice ½ oz rosemary-black walnut syrup* ½ oz Amaro Montenegro ½ oz lemon juice Dash of Allspice Dram
Shake, strain, serve on ice in rocks glass; garnish with rosemary sprig.
Delicious. The syrup involves some prep time, but well worth it. This drink is a crowd-pleaser!
*Rosemary-black walnut syrup
2 parts brown sugar 1 part water 1/2 part black walnuts 3 sprigs rosemary Pinch of sea salt
Toast the walnuts in a saucepan, then add water, brown sugar, and rosemary. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat. Extract rosemary after two hours. Let walnuts sit overnight, then strain.

Red Rooster Cocktail

1 ½ oz Vodka ½ oz Fig Liqueor (Figenza) 1 oz Blood Orange San Pellegrino Dash of Orange Bitters Slice of Orange Peel
Shake with ice, strain into a cocktail glass. Squeeze peel over glass and add as garnish.
This was made as a request for a cocktail that contained both vodka and Blood Orange Pellegrino. It was designed specifically for rooster cocktail glasses, but you can use whatever glasses you have on hand.
Fig and Blood Orange make a nice flavor combination, and could be combined with other base liquors, bourbon or gin would work equally well, but yield entirely different results.
