Red hot humiliation flushed over her, and she froze for a minute to process what to say. She couldn’t be honest, not really, not ou of risk of exposing herself and all her secrets being found out. As Diego glanced down at her leg, Maggie had never been more grateful to be wearing jeans, unsure if she could explain away all the various marks that littered her thighs. “I’m…” She trailed off, unsure whether to obviously lie and tell him she was thigh, or for once, be truthful. But that was too scary to think about. “Just went to hard on the last goal, Sir. Nothing a bath later won’t fix.” The submissive settled for, brushing off the dull pain as if it were nothing, though the way her face contorted in pain when she put some extra weight on the leg gave it away, and she knew it.

Diego already looked unconvinced to begin with, although he was ready to drop the subject until Maggie’s face contorted further when she shifted her weight. He really wasn’t one for being obnoxious when people wanted to be left alone or pushing an issue someone clearly didn’t want to be pushed. But he also wasn’t one for leaving a friend stranded when they were clearly in pain. “Okay,” he replied, sounding utterly doubtful even to his own ears. Glancing around and finding no benches anywhere close, he cleared his throat and then pointed at the lawn between them. “You know, I was looking for a place to have lunch anyway. Want to sit with me? I have an extra sandwich.” It was stilted, he was aware of that, but he hoped Maggie would take the excuse for sitting down and at least resting for a moment.

The first thing Maggie noticed coming back from class that day was the letter addressed to her in her mom’s handwriting. Her stomach churned, knowing exactly what the contents in the envelope was. The submissive, however, decided to ignore it for now, running to her room and grabbing her soccer boots and ball, too fired up to bother changing into anything more suitable than the jeans and t-shirt she was currently sporting. Maggie was soon on the field, ignoring the dull ache in her leg as she kicked the ball again and again, harder and harder, cursing her mm and the wind, and her life. It wasn’t until she let out a particularly painful yell as her leg gave did she realise someone was there. “Oh. Di-Sir. Hi.” She said, voice flat as she could muster. “How…how long have you been there?”

Diego had been on his way across campus to the library when he walked by the soccer field. At first, he was about to keep walking as his interest in sports was pretty small, but a yell from the field made him stop. That had sounded like it hurt. Narrowing his eyes, he zoned in on the person -- and realized he knew her. She seemed to realize at about the same time. Diego offered a small smile that carried an obvious edge of worry as he stepped closer. “Not long,” he promised, furrowing his brows as he glanced down towards her leg. “Are you okay? That sounded like it hurt.”

So in attempt to be ready for both summer shit, and fall semester I’m putting out a sirens call for a study group, and maybe like… Some ideas for clubs to join! I’m thinking about that new cooking club, cause it just sounds pretty chill, but other than that I got nothing so anyone that can help me out will have a friend in me forever.

We had a study group last semester so if that’s happening again, I’m sure you could join that one. And I’m definitely joining the cooking club too, that seems very up my alley. Other than that, I’m always an advocate for the science club, obviously.

“I’m really glad I matched with you,” Ezekiel told Diego honestly as they stood awkwardly at the barbeque, having already mingled with their individual matches. The Switch was grateful to have Diego, his match list not being so bad even if it was lacking a certain someone. “Are you happy with your matches, Sir?”

“Me too,” Diego returned, letting out a slow breath. “I’m glad I don’t have to come up with small talk topics.” Most of his matches were people he’d never met with Ezekiel and Ronan being the exceptions. And while he’d been very excited about the prospect of romance, he’d possibly underestimated the amount of socializing he’d have to do to get there. “They all seem very nice so far, yes. But I’m also looking forward to a little quiet after all this tonight. Are you?”

Something about waiting for some food made Maggie feel awkward, although she knew that there were no eyes on her right now. No one cared if she was in the queue for a burger, because realistically she only had three matches, and there were a lot of people here, and they were off mingling with the other matches they had. Lost in her thought, she accidentally walked into someone when shuffling up the queue. “Oh I’m sorry! Oh!” Her eyes widened when she noticed the name-tag. “Diego. Diego…Sir!” The submissive laughed, correctly herself correctly, “Hi, I think we’re matched. I’m Maggie. Maggie Howell.”

As much as Diego loved the idea of love, he had to admit that he’d begun to have a few second thoughts about the event. There were a lot of people there, he’d matched with quite a few of them and he had no idea how to even begin to figure out whom he might want to pair up with for the summer. Especially with those he didn’t know yet at all. So when someone bumped into him in the queue for burgers and their name tag happened to identify them as one of his matches, he was very glad he didn’t have to go make the first step. “Oh, hi, yes! I’m Diego -- but you already know that,” he offered, awkward laugh trailing off as he gestured towards his name tag. A beat, before he offered his hand to shake anyway. “It’s nice to meet you.”

non-lip kisses are my absolute favorite. absentmindedly kissing the back of someone’s palm as you hold hands. chaste forehead kisses and brushes against their cheek. silly boops on the nose. kissing fluttering eyelashes. neck kisses that barely touch skin but are no less passionate. kisses on collar bones or exposed tummies. sloppy kisses at the corners of someone’s mouth. kissing each and every fingertip with a delicate touch.

Oh no, unfortunately my lifestyle means I can’t really have a pet, but I’m hoping things will calm down after summer because I’d love to adopt a little kitty cat.

I’ve been thinking about adopting a cat too! But it’s.. not quite that easy, is it?

I figured. It’s fine though, that will come in handy when classes actually start. I bet, they gotta have copies for all the real book babies. Yeah? What languages do you speak then? I do, yeah. I speak some. Picked up a few on my own, some from my siblings. 

I speak Portuguese and a little Spanish from High School but I’m nowhere fluent in the latter. But that’s really cool, that speak so many!

All of that sounds fun, when you take into consideration you’re helping the animals. What time do you leave tomorrow? And where should I meet you?

I usually leave pretty early, around 9 so we can get ahead of the heat at least a little bit. If you’re up for it, I’ll pick you and Whitney up outside your dorm?

Cool, thanks! What’s your favorite part of volunteering there? And what kinds of things do you do?

I just like knowing I’m doing something good for these animals that clearly weren’t in ideal situations before. Sometimes I walk some of the dogs, I help clean the kennels and cages and things like that. Sometimes I get to just sit with the cats.

Of course, I’d be happy to! And no, I’ve been going whenever work and school would allow, it’s a ton of fun.
