Dominic’s recent catch: a Dreepy he names Arrow.
Night had fallen as Dominic was in the fields of the wild area, and while he knew it was dangerous - it was the time that ghost and dark pokemon reveled in the darkness - he didn’t have it in his heart to leave. Not when he hadn’t found the right pokemon to add to his team just yet. With his tent up and a fire roaring, thanks to Cole’s abilities, Dominic was nursing a bowl of curry and a glass of water when Ursa rose up from her spot and began to stare out at the darkness, Cole following suit and offering a growl. “Shit,” Dominic said, moving to set his drink aside as he turned to face the direction his pokemon were responding to, preparing in case it was a pokemon looking to fight. “Who’s there?!”
sylasrose:
Sylas was exasperated. He’d come to the lake to train his pokemon, with a focus on Pearl the azurril and Aurora the milotic, but it was not long before the youngest on his team began to start sobbing loudly after a gentle scolding for not paying attention. Annoyed, but sympathetic, he picked up the baby pokemon and began to cradle it.
Upon hearing footsteps, he tensed up. “I didn’t do anything bad. She’s just moody.”
With only three Pokemon on his team, Dominic was eager to set out and see if he could find another pokemon to fill his roster before the next time he would be asked to battle one of his peers. It was something he was hoping for, though he had no idea what sort of Pokemon he wanted. Sure, he knew that he would need to catch a dark pokemon eventually - it was needed if he wanted Ursa to evolve when she was ready - but he was certainly open to more. Maybe what he needed was a nice electric type to balance out his team, or maybe even a fairy... though even dragon-types were cool.
That was how he found himself in the large field that housed the lake, and he could see a lone figure standing near the water’s edge. Curiosity getting the better of him, Dominic and his trio of Pokemon - Jet, Cole and Ursa - began to make their way forward. He was doing pretty stealthy about it, too... until Ursa pushed Cole into Jet or then knocked into him, causing him to falter and step on a fallen stick.
Thankfully, it was just Sylas - a guy he shared a couple of classes with, given the fact that they were both in the trainer program, just with different branches in mind. “Trust me, I get it,” Dominic said, staring back at his Pokemon, though really just Cole and Ursa. He loved them and their fighting spirits, but damn did it get tiring at points. “She’s gorgeous, though... I can’t wait to see what she’ll look like as a Marill.”
Pausing, Dominic gripped the straps of his backpack before he nodded at the other. “Getting tired, though? Because I was thinking of setting up camp soon and making some curry for my guys before we get started on training... And you know curry is always better when you work together with another person.”
jaxthesongbird:
“Oi! Thanks alot!” Jax growled as he and his jigglypuff Jig had gotten food thrown at them after they had perform one of their newer songs. Usually the crowd at the bellossom cafe were nicer to them but today they were just rude assholes. Jax dusted himself off and picked up Jig when he noticed someone,”so what did you think of our singing?”
After gathering the supplies he needed for his next trip to the wild area, the sophomore decided to stop by the cafe for a quick bite to eat. Almost as soon was he was seated in a corner booth, however, he was greeted to a show... a show he had to try to not listen to as while the male’s voice was grand, the fact that he was coupled with a Jigglypuff meant one thing... that he could find himself falling asleep if he wasn’t careful. Thankfully, though, the crowd seemed to push the guy off of the stage and as he came over to him, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re a good singer, both of you are... I think most people just didn’t want to fall asleep and, you know, face the wrath of Jigglypuff’s marker,” Dominic spoke before he gestured to the seat opposite him. “You teach at the academy, right?”
THE TEAM
Nickname: Jet
Pokemon: Prinplup
How He Received Him: As his father is a researcher that studies both ice and water type pokemon in the arctic hemisphere, his father brought home a young, orphaned Piplup to raise. As such, the Pokemon was his first partner Pokemon and the two have a strong bond - and he knows that when he becomes Champion, Jet will be by his side. And he absolutely can’t wait for Jet to become an Empoleon, because he knows that that combination typing of Water and Steel? It’s one that’ll make them damn near unbeatable.
Nickname: Cole
Pokemon: Charmeleon
How He Received Him: Cole was the first Pokemon he caught upon arriving to Victory Reef Island. Somehow, he had managed to make his way through the caves and to the volcano where he was greeted with a smorgasbord of fire-type Pokemon. While he had, at first, had his eyes set upon a young growlithe, a young, rambunctious Charmander came to challenge him in a fight. Seeing the courage and strength that the Charmander had, Dominic quickly wanted to catch him - and thankfully, with the help of Jet - he was able to. Now that Cole is a Charmeleon, though, that attitude has strengthened tenfold - but Dominic knows that it’s that attitude that’s going to make him Galar’s next champion.
Nickname: Ursa
Pokemon: Pancham
How He Received Her: Just before his freshman year ended, Dominic - after training his pokemon in the wild area - stumbled across a young Pancham that was picking fights with Machoke and other Pokemon bigger than her. Wanting to try and step in and protect the Pancham, however, the young Pokemon then attacked him - wanting to show she didn’t need to be protected - and it was that fire that had him reach for his pokeball. Though they haven’t been together long, Dominic is sure that Ursa is going to be a great fit for his team.
