Ahh, I'm finally back! Did I miss anything?
"Ah yes. Now that you mentioned it, I do remember your mother serving those really delicious cupcakes."
"She’s quite a lady, I’ll tell you that. She made me feel like I’m her daughter or something. She’s very nice. I was actually surprised that she’s not your older sister."
"That's a common mistake. Most people assume my parents are my siblings. One time back at my old school, during this presentation thinggy in which parents are expected to watch, my father got reprimanded by one of my teachers for kissing my mother on the cheek. My teacher had mistaken them for students."
"Would you like to see them again? I'm positive that my parents can remember you. They remember every customer so I'm certain that they will remember you."
"… It’s fine."
"You don’t need to make it up to me. I’m used to the stereotypes. It’s better than some of the other assumptions."
"B...But still...!"
"I feel like a total ass! I need to make it up to you! I don't think I can give or do much but--oh!"
"How about I bake you something, Kirigiri-san? I can even add in our secret ingredient!"
"I would talk to my mother if I have the chance but that chance is a definite one in a million. And my father? I don’t think I can knock some sense out of him. He’s completely hopeless.”
"But it seems like you have quite a perfect family, Asahina-chan. Considering your delightfully easy-going personality, I’m assuming your parents must be such lovely people for raising someone like you."
"I...I see..."
"My family? I wouldn't really call it perfect but we're very happy."
"We have flaws but we're still very grateful to have each other. Haven't you met them yet? You have been to our bakery before, right? I think my mother kept serving you different pastries and tea while calling you "sweetie", am I right? Because that's what she does to all our visitors."
"So you based me on a stereotype? Not everyone has a specific character type, Asahina-san…"
"I suppose I could forgive you this one time, as long as you make sure not to judge books by their covers again."
"Gomen..."
"That was very wrong of me. I was raised better than that. I don't think I can ever live with the guilt. Can I make it up to you? I need to make it up to you, Kirigiri-san."
"That won’t be necessary, Asahina-chan. It’s okay, really. I’m already used to being forgotten. No wait, that didn’t come out right. I mean, I’m used to… well… you know what? Just erase that from your mind."
"It’s not much of an option for me. My father is a complete wreck. My mother is never home. I have to be the adult in the family. Not that I’m complaining though. I’m a very reliable woman."
"But that's just not right! You're too young to be put under such heavy responsibilities! That's not how a family works!"
"Mahiru-chan, I don't think it's healthy to be providing for your family while at the same time taking your studies. You're gonna stress yourself out. Can't you try talking to your mother? Or your father? Surely they don't want their own daughter going through such difficulties."
"I wouldn’t expect you to remember me anyways, Asahina-chan. Given the fact that you’re quite famous, it’s understandable how you can’t remember people like me. I don’t mind at all."
"I thought it was already obvious but I’m a photographer. Super High-School Level Photographer. It’s not much but it keeps food on the table."
"I feel bad for failing to recall your visit to our bakery though. Let me make it up to you, alright? Maybe some free treats from my parents' bakery!"
"It keeps food on the table? Mahiru-chan, don't tell me you're the one providing for your family? Aren't you far too young for such responsibility?"
"…"
"I feel as though you have inadvertently insulted me. If you’re looking for Dating Simulators, I’m sure the SHSL Gamer is willing to lend you a few. As for me…"
She quickly glances at her watch.
"I’ll be late for a very important meeting. I’ll leave you alone now."
"N...No...! Wait!"
"I didn't mean to offend you in any way, Kirigiri-san! I'm really sorry! I just thought that mysterious girls like you never let anyone in, you know? I always thought you were one of those girls who turns down every guy that comes to their door. I'm really sorry."
"Yeah, I guess we’re roommates though I don’t think I was informed about that. I haven’t moved in to the dorm yet but I will later in the afternoon. I’m just waiting for my things to arrive."
"Of course I’ve heard of you before. I doubt you remember but I’m the one who takes your pictures whenever you win a swimming competition. I also went over to your place one time to take pictures of you for this article while the journalist gave you the interview."
"Oh, is that so? I don't think I remember you."
"N...Not that because you're easy to forget! I just meet up with a lot of people in terms of interviews. But I've seen every picture of me that was taken and I'm pretty sure the ones you took are very decent! What's your title, Mahiru-chan?"
"…"
"I don’t own dating sims, Asahina-san. I also have no need to be worried about my love-life."
"You have a love-life?"
"I... I mean, you have a love-life! Of course you do! You're pretty enough to have someone in your life! Why on earth would you be wasting your time on Dating Sims?"
"Dating Sims sounds fun though..."
"…"
"Why would I possess Dating Simulators…?"
"O...Oh... Um..."
"I...It was just a guess! I figured that you'd be into dating but never had the time for it because of all your detective work so you rely on Dating Sims. N...Not that it's a bad thing!"
"Did I say ‘him’? Sorry, slip of the tongue."
"I’m Mahiru Koizumi, by the way. And you must be… Aoi Asahina, correct? Super High-School Level Swimmer?"
"Mahiru? Oh! You're my roommate! You're the new student, yes? I was wondering why you don't seem familiar at all."
"Yep! That's me! You've heard of me before?"
"I own a couple, but not many. I do believe the Super High School Level Gamer has many consoles and games, though. Possibly even the ones where you move about to control the device."
"That sounds so radical! I should meet that gamer!"
"But not right now because I'm not in the mood to look for anyone. What kind of games do you have? No wait, let me guess... Dating Sims?"
"I’m pretty sure it was you. You have a face that can’t be easily forgotten. You had a box with you but I only spotted you eating one."
"But that does not make you a pig! Who in the world made you think that eating a number of doughnuts make you come out as a pig? Who is this insensitive prick and I’ll give him a piece of my mind!"
"Him?"
"No one's really at fault for getting me to think that way. There are just times when I get really distracted by the delicious mouth-watering taste of donuts that I end up eating barbarically. Why would you assume the "insensitive prick" is a guy?"
"I’m going to have to state the obvious here then."
"There is no way for you to be as overly active without you sweating, and needing to take a shower. Unless you partake in something such a video games."
"EXACTLY! See my problem here? How am I supposed to survive like this?!"
"Wait, video games? Hn. I've never played video games before. Kirigiri-san! Do you own any video games? I find it hard to picture you playing such games but I'm curious!"
"I think I just saw you eating doughnuts earlier at the cafeteria. I’m pretty sure you’re jut bored."
"Y...You saw that?! M...Maybe that was someone else! I'm not a pig! It must have been someone else! How many donuts did that person eat?"
"… I don’t really get restless, Asahina-san…"
"And when I do, I go for a walk. But that sounds indefinitely boring to you, doesn’t it?"
"A walk? That's something I do, like, all day so yeah, that sounds kinda boring..."
"N...No offense though! I'm just getting really impatient! I really need to move a lot, you know? I considered taking a jog but I just took a shower and I don't want to have one again for the third time. I'm like a rabbit. I would die if I don't keep moving!"
