The Chrysler Building in New York is one of many buildings in the city that reminds people how beautiful Art Deco can be. The architect, William Van Elen, drew inspiration from machine technology for the ornamental details of the building. Standing at the intersection of 42nd street and Lexington Avenue it was once the tallest building in New York but with the Empire State building and the new World Trade Center building it is now placed at third.
