The inspiration for “Classical September” - My wife Maria was classically-trained (precollege at Juilliard). She grew up amongst real classical musicians, from childhood in New York: composers and choreographers from Bernstein and Stravinsky to Balanchine, with a busy rehearsal pianist grandmother and piano teacher mother. As a child, I recall my father practicing Bartok parts while strolling through the house. He was an accomplished violinist, and played 2nd violin in a prominent quartet on the east coast. Through his and my wife’s roots, I have a strong connection to classical tradition. I work in Europe each year, and while there, always carve out time to hear wonderful soloists and orchestras of Berlin, Vienna and the Paris Opera. We walk for days on end through these beautiful cities, where there are reminders of “the greats” on almost every street corner. Debussy is one who speaks to me, and we happened upon his tomb in a cemetery park in Paris on the 18th of September last year, while I was messing around with a classical motif…and this is what happened…not TRULY classical, but leaning that way. 🎶 🎶 🎶 You can listen to a clip of “Classical September” and all the tracks from my new album “Out of Thin Air” at LINK IN BIO 🎶 🎶 🎶 #dongrusin #classicalmusic #insipration #classical #piano #music #jazz #jazzmusic #jazzpiano #jazzpianist #instamusic #jazzpianosolo #instamusician #recordingstudio #moosesound #ponchaspringscolorado #salidacolorado #Debussy #Paris #Europe (at Paris, France) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCWR0vkAOww/?igshid=1ljcrqhtmlkxr
