"Every janky indie EarthBound clone has amazing music" is an illusion. Most of them have average music at best; they just get extra credit for bothering to have a discernible musical identity at all, as opposed to most contemporary big-budget console RPGs' aimless "atmospheric" drone.

Whole thing probably needs to be transposed at least a whole-step down to keep Gideon's part in mezzo/alto belt-range. Don't know why I got so stuck on it having to be in D minor when I wrote the thing. It can be in another key, man. Just because it's based on Mozart's Requiem in D Minor doesn't mean you have to compose a whole-ass musical in the key of D Minor. That sounds like a Bad Idea actually.

All you really need to know from his hades 1 lore is that he’s the minor god of chickens and is a follower(?) of Ares’. They’re also in a relationship . it’s weird. Alectryon and Zagreus are good friends.
Alextyron sometimes hangs out at the palace after his storyline, and occasionally joins Zagreus on runs.
When Chronos strikes, Alectryon just so happens to be on Olympus with Ares. (my oc Styx is not so lucky 😔)
Alectryon helps Ares and the others fight off the monsters while he’s there, until (before the game) Ares takes him aside.
He asks Alectryon to do him a favor, as he’s the only person he’d trust with such a mission. He wants Alectryon to go down to the underworld and find any resistance of Chronos’ and help them out. And get Zagreus back, they both were friends w that guy.
Alectryon agrees, goes down there, and finds Hecate. At this point, Olympus doesn’t know abt Melinoë. Hecate knows that Alectryon would report back anything and everything to Ares, so she keeps him at a distance. He collects resources, scouts, basic stuff. Against her better judgment, though, she does grow slightly fond of him.
After a few nights in the game, Hecate will finally introduce him to Melinoë. At first the relationship is mostly business driven, but they eventually become friends.
Alectryon hangs out around the crossroads, but he’s like Nemesis in that he’s in and out.
He has dialogue with everyone, I’d assume. He’s most commonly found standing near Hecate, or Hades’ fountain.
In terms of relationships, his thing with Ares is the most prioritized in his mind. He will often be found in the hot spring, after it’s built, calling down a boon and speaking to Ares. You can listen in on them, but it’s usually a recap of something that happened recently and them both being like “I love you, I miss you, I want to fight alongside you,” etc.
Melinoë at this point can also listen in on him having flirty ish conversations with Odysseus and Moros lmao. After those, she listens in on him contacting Ares via boon and confessing to having feelings for them. Ares is chill w it, saying as long as he, Ares, is the only god Alectryon worships, he does not mind him having other relationships. (Again, it’s weird.) Ares also comments that Alectryon made good choices, in that Odysseus and Moros are both tied to death/violence in some way.
Melinoë can will make fun of him for all three of these conversations. This is important to me .
Regarding gameplay, Alectryon will randomly appear in the remaining grounds when you go out. There, you can ask him to join you for the night.
Early on in the friendship, he’ll accept and join you for one region, in either direction. He has his shield and Varatha, so his attacks would probably be similar to Theseus’ in hades 1.
when you’re at a higher friendship with him, you can ask him to join you for the whole night, to which he’ll agree.
this does include boss battles- all of them except for Hecate’s. There, he’ll stand to the side and cheer both of them on. This means it’s def more worth it to go to the surface with him early on lmao
after one boss battle, once per night, he’ll offer Melinoë a boon. His boons are very situational, as the majority of them only activate with a boon of Ares’.
if melinoë dies during battles, there’s a post-death line about him meeting her back in the crossroads, or how he’ll hold the enemies off. He’s a god and can’t die, after all.
If he’s not asked to join in the training grounds, Melinoë will sometimes encounter him out.
He’ll offer some words of encouragement, but then say that he should head back. He’ll give her some materials he collected (can be any any gathered materials except fish) and then teleport back to the crossroads.
If Gale or Hecuba are not chosen, one of them will be with him. If one is picked , the other will be.
Melinoë’s surprised to see them, of course, and Alectryon explains that he’s not bound to them like her or Hecate, but they both like him and Hecate wants them to get some exercise anyways.
Gale and Hecuba will sometimes not be in the training grounds, where Melinoë will comment that they must be with Alectryon.
at the “end” of the game, Alectryon chooses to return to Olympus for the majority of the time. He occasionally is in the crossroads, but there’s a significant decrease in how much you’re seeing him.
you can also listen in on him amicably breaking things off with Moros and Odysseus.
he’ll still join you on nights though, I imagine he gives you some way of contacting him (a bell?) where you ring it to summon him. It would have a cooldown for a few days.
