Tonight will start a week long task of house and pet sitting for a friend of my mother’s.  There are two dogs and two cats who keep to themselves for the most part.  The house is ghostly quiet, giving me a lot of time to think and reflect.  I intend to take full advantage of this rare opportunity of being alone and see what comes of it.

Ran a 5k today. The air was sticky and humid due to some rain earlier in the day.  My father ran too, and I still cannot beat him.  The race was a way to raise money for kids with cancer, and it was pleasant to see a large turnout for the event.   When I got home my legs felt like solid blocks of concrete.  I think I’ll wait sometime before running another race.

I was in a great mood today until I became stuck in bumper to bumper, accident traffic on the highway coming home from work.  I tried remaining calm, but all I could think about was the laundry list of things that needed to be done before bed.  The smallest things get under my skin.  I can feel the uneasiness boil up and my body becomes tense.  It is something I am working on controlling, and having this negative feelings spill over into relationships with friends and family.

Today is Father’s Day, and I forgotten to get my father a card.  My mother, father, and I went out to brunch today.  It was the first time I have had breakfast, eggs benedict, with a beer.  Prior to brunch we went to mass.  Truthfully my focus was more on the toddlers and training service dog then the actual mass.
