Hobbies
Name a hobby Wood carving
What got you interested in this hobby? Watching my gramps carve his own walking sticks on the farm before he died. They were damn nice. Sturdy, good design. There was some real artistry in ‘em, but they were practical, too. Got him around just fine, anyway.
How much time a week do you spend on it? A lot of time, I guess. We got a lot of down-time between jobs, especially when work dries up a while, and sometimes even on the job, we gotta wait around a couple hours for our target to show up. Just pulling a knife out and whittling or carving a while is good way to pass the time. Also, it’s a good, intimidating looking hobby to work on in the background when we’ve gotta look threatening in the background for an employer.
If the hobby is an acquired skill, do you think you’re good? I got my gramps to compare my skill with, and he was a damn artist. I do pretty well. Lots of practice. Some people even buy the things I carve, sometimes. But I’m nothing like Pappy was.
Are you part of a club for your hobby? No. It’s something I like to do myself, or with my brother when he’s working on his poems. It’s a quiet thing. I don’t like people being in my face when I’m winding down.
Pet Peeves
List five things that annoy you 1) My brother’s damn picky eating habits 2) Noisy people (screechy, whining, complaining “poodle women” (or men), people who drum their fingers or sing, hum, or whistle for no damn reason) 3) People complaining about their parents 4) Getting a splinter right before a job starts up again 5) Roadmaps that aren’t folded correctly
Which of these is most annoying? Hard call. I deal with the first two most often, but I forgive my brother, so I’ll say noisy people.
Is there a reason for it, or does it bother you in a general sense? Why does everyone on the planet gotta hear themselves talk all the time? Christ.
Are there exceptions? If there’s a reason for the talking, then fine. People talking doesn’t bother me. It’s just when they’re filling up quiet space with their stupid voices, like the quiet makes them uncomfortable or something and they gotta ruin it for everyone. This is worse when it’s a mark that we’re not actually allowed to knock the hell out of.
How do you cope, when you get annoyed? I just got good self-control, mostly. If it gets bad enough, I can usually use intimidation to scare people into shutting up. My brother once hung a tiny, noisy woman up on a coat rack once, though, and it was a good solution. Otherwise, we can just leave, or if we can’t, I can knock their front teeth out.
Work
What is your job? My brother and I are mercenaries. Wanna keep it simple? Thugs for hire, then. We’ll do just about anything that pays right, unless it goes against our rules, or if it’s stupid.
Do you like your job? It’s got some thrill to it, but a lot of it is real boring. But I don’t like that my brother and I get hurt here and there. It’s not an easy job to have. I guess I like it alright. I wouldn’t miss it if I left.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? I want to go back to farming, like our folks. Bruno and I could handle it, if we just got a piece of land for ourselves.
What do you wish you could change about your current job? The part where we end up bleeding because of some mark trying to play hero.
What is the best thing that has ever happened to you while working? Took out a mark once who was carrying this huge wrapped and roped pack with him, right? Turns out it was a guy he just offed, and that guy was wanted for twice as much cash. Two for one! Me and Bruno got reward money like kings out of that, and it was all just luck.
Emotions
When is the last time you laughed? A week back, there was this noisy-ass idiot at the pub (a “poodle man”). Guy just never shut up. So right when me and Bruno were getting up to knock a little quiet into him, this other guy stands up and decks him right in the face so hard that it took him clean off his feet. Lost a boot and everything. Bruno and I had a real good laugh about that.
When is the last time you cried? Don’t remember. Been a long damn time since I cried about anything. (...Okay, so leeches scare the hell out of me and I got a couple on my legs crossing a river last month and I might have cried about it until me and Bruno got ‘em off our skin. If you tell anyone, I will kill you.)
When is the last time you felt jealous? We had some downtime the other day and I had a bunch of things carved out from waiting around on our last job, so I set up in town and tried to sell a couple of ‘em for some extra cash. But this wimpy, noisy guy had some wood carvings to sell too, and people liked his work better. I didn’t get anyone to buy my stuff. Might’ve caught that guy in an alleyway and punch out some of the frustration, but that’s just how it goes. If people like his work better than mine, I just gotta get better, that’s all.
When is the last time you wanted to kiss someone? Been a while, I guess. I’m too busy for that. Saw a pretty dark-haired woman at the pub in Paris though might’ve been the last time, but I didn’t even talk to her. Bruno was looking at her, too.
When is the last time you wanted to hit someone? About an hour ago, and then I did it.
Family
What are your parents like? They were real good people. Hard-working, always helping people out. Never gave up on anything. Looked out for each other, and us. Smiled a lot. Laughed. Loved each other. Took care of us. Miss ‘em a lot.
Do you have any siblings? I got my twin brother Bruno. He’s all I got left.
Who are you closest to? ...Well, Bruno. It was always like that, though, even when mom and pops and our gramps were still around.
What is your fondest memory? I don’t know. It’s like all that stuff back on the farm with our parents is one, big, good blur. Maybe we had some hard seasons back then, bad for the crops, backbreaking work out in the field to help pull through the summer, but it was all real good stuff back then. Hard work paid off, people were honest, things made sense. Everything before we started losing everyone is a fond memory for me.
What position do you feel you hold in your family? (Leader, caretaker, runt, troublemaker, etc) I’m my brother’s keeper. Didn’t mind doing that. Still don’t, except when he’s being a moron, but I guess that’s what he needs me for. Always been more grounded and focused than Bruno. He wouldn’t have got any work done in the barns if I wasn’t there to push him along. Maybe that makes me a caretaker, I guess. I don’t know.
Romance
Have you ever been in love? No. Don’t think so. Never cared about any particular girl that much. Always got more important stuff to deal with. I can drop just about anybody out of my life anytime I need to. There’s only one exception to that, but that’s not what you’re asking about.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Yeah. It happens when it’s meant to.
What is your ideal woman/man? Hard to say. Haven’t met many good ones. Probably just a woman who makes sense, and I can trust, and is good to my brother. You want looks? ...Don’t know, really. Pretty enough, probably dark hair, but doesn’t matter to me much.
What is your dream date? Private room at the inn?
What is the most romantic thing you can think of? Dependability. There was a time about a year before our parents died that this huge flood came through the farm, and it destroyed everything we had. Months of work on the fields, and even some of the animals and parts of the barn, just down the drain in a flash. It’s like you could see life getting real, real hard every minute the rain kept coming down, but our parents just stood there on the front porch together and my dad reached for mom’s hand, and they just held each other that whole time. Didn’t say anything. Didn’t need to. But that kind of support when things are about to get real bad, is the most romantic thing I can think of. Wish Bruno and I could meet people like that for ourselves -- people you can really depend on.

How much time a week do you spend on it? Couple hours every night.

Are you part of a club for your hobby? The pub has a poetry night. I get some feedback then, but I don’t think they’re very honest. Too scared.
Pet Peeves
List five things that annoy you 1) People talking to me from my left side 2) When Viktor tells me to hurry up when we’ve got no place to be 3) Liars 4) Loud drunks 5) Getting an idea and not having anything to write with
Which of these is most annoying? The first one
Is there a reason for it, or does it bother you in a general sense? I’ve got one goddamn eye.
Are there exceptions? If they have to be there, like they’re washing dishes or tied to a tree.
How do you cope, when you get annoyed? Take a breath and count back from ten in my head. A mark told me to once before I punched him out. Works sometimes.
Work
What is your job? Mercenary
Do you like your job? It’s exciting sometimes, but dangerous. Pays the bills, at least.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? A poet, but they don’t make much money.
What do you wish you could change about your current job? I want Rider out of the picture. Too much of a distraction. And less risk would be good.
What is the best thing that has ever happened to you while working? Met a woman once...
Emotions
When is the last time you laughed? A week ago. Loud mouth wimp wouldn’t shut up. Me and Vik were about to take care of it, but another guy decked him right out of his boots. Literally.
When is the last time you cried? Don’t remember. Don’t cry anymore.
When is the last time you felt jealous? Watching lover boy kiss that Mary lady. Rule #4 be damned. I wanted to knock his teeth out.

When is the last time you wanted to hit someone? Around an hour ago, but Viktor beat me to it.
Family
What are your parents like? ...Dead.
Do you have any siblings? Just Viktor. My twin.
Who are you closest to? Vik’s all I’ve got. We’re close though.
What is your fondest memory? Long time ago… hard to remember details, but Pappy helped me and Vik make a treehouse in a grove near the farm. Password was feeble beetle. Remember that much. Just me, Vik and Hackett from over the hill were allowed.
What position do you feel you hold in your family? (Leader, caretaker, runt, troublemaker, etc) Trouble maker, I guess. Vik says I got a snap temper. Gets us in rough spots sometimes.
Romance
Have you ever been in love? I think so. Nothing’s lasted long enough to be sure.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Maybe. Complicated, I guess.
What is your ideal woman/man? Dark hair. Light eyes… One who’s understanding of guys with a history, with a nice smile, I guess. Bein’ a proper lady’s a good bonus.
What is your dream date? A comfortable silence, and a good meal. Maybe more if she’s interested. I’d like to kiss her goodnight, like one of those well-off gents.
What is the most romantic thing you can think of? Forgiveness
