10 nice things from 2010-2019
1. My 30th birthday getaway in September 2010 was lovely, friends, food and nice walks.
2. I started my own design business in 2011. That year was such a mix of emotions, from taking the plunge head first and feeling like I’d made a mistake to getting my first job and building it up slowly… it’s the best job I’ve ever had.
3. Summer of 2012 saw Andrew and I spend 32 days in New York. In the middle of a heatwave. Staying in a friends apartment in Red Hook. We got married the third week there and spent the day on the high line.
4. In 2013 we booked our first Landmark Trust property, The Pineapple. We now holiday with them every November and look forward to it.
5. Early 2014 we found ourselves without WiFi for 2 weeks forcing me to get a desk at The Whisky Bond. I was the first tenant in the co-working space. I liked it so much I stayed there for 4 years and 4 months. By autumn 2014 I moved across the hall to a self-contained studio with 3 others and had the best time. I miss it a lot.
6. I had quite a quiet year in 2015 but the absolute highlight is my dad finally had a diagnosis and he survived major brain surgery.
7. Our trip to New Zealand in 2016 was a whirlwind. Catching up with family, exploring and eating some amazing food.
8. 2017 was the year we decided to cram a lot of trips into the year after feeling like I worked too much and rarely went to any events or on any trips… it was a blast. Our 10 year anniversary trip to Innerleithen, canal walks, Tarbert, an overnight in Carlisle, walking part of the Kintyre Way, our week up north taking in the Black Isle, Suilven, Lochinver, Scoraig, Melon Udrigle, then spending 4 nights on the Isle of Eigg for Howlin’ Fling (sharing a hostel with KT Tunstall), London trip for a wedding, Wales trip, a week in France, another trip to London, a week in Kintyre and finishing the year by celebrating New Year on Eigg.
9. Herbie was born in June 2018. I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier baby.
10. We bought our wee house in April 2019 and we love it.
