I can’t tell you how much I love this. I spent a year teaching in Spain. One of my high school age students was Muslim. She had such a personality, she was so smart and and she set such an example of a willingness to learn. During one of my classes part of her hair came free from the back of her hijab. For that one lock of hair I tapped her on the shoulder and let her leave the room to fix it. She was so grateful. (And let me tell you that hair had never seen hot tools or products and was Fucking GORGEOUS).

I know this is really long, but I was so nervous when I first arrived in Spain because there were so many Islamic families and students and I didn’t know how they’d feel about having an American teacher, but it didn’t matter in the end. Seeing this same respect on a TV show (I don’t even know which one) is a fucking breath of fresh air to me. There needs to be more content like this out there.
