Whenever people generally talk about drug addicts they seem to like totally miss that they’re talking about someone with a medical condition.
Yeah maybe some people do bad things because of their drug addiction but plenty of people do plenty of bad things in the name of the bad circumstances of their lives. It doesn’t make their actions right but it also doesn’t make them worse than a sober person smashing something because they’re extremely stressed or stealing or attacking because they’re extremely angry.
And sometimes yes a drug addict’s condition is their own fault. But so are lots of medical issues. Should a person not be given a cast for their broken leg because they shouldn’t have been climbing that tree? Should a doctor just let someone die of a stroke because they shouldn’t have been eating that much salt?
No, that’s rediculous. And yet that’s how a lot of people want to treat drug addicts.
If you’re addicted to something you deserve the same amount of support, care, and sympathy as a person with any other chronic condition. You deserve healthcare. You deserve to be treated with dignity. Divorced from your other actions or flaws or strengths as a person. You deserve to live well and be as healthy as you can be with your condition. Whether you want to stop being addicted or not.

This compilation showcases wrought iron doorway designs by architect Ernest Blerot, created around 1900 in Brussels. Flowing lines, organic forms, and meticulous craftsmanship define these entrances, each one blurring the boundary between architecture and sculpture.
Blerot’s work reflects the height of Art Nouveau, a moment when even functional elements like doors were treated as opportunities for beauty and imagination.
