Thinking about greasedlightning where Greaseball's internalised homophobia brings him to hate and disdain Electra. Not because of their rivalry, or how Electra is, but because the feelings he feels towards him make him so disgusted with himself that all he can do is blame him for it.

This, in turn, pushes Electra away from him. So much to the point that when Greaseball finally comes to terms with himself, he's already lost the chance they had together because Electra's moved on, therefore leaving Greaseball mourning the life they could have spent, knowing that no one will fill the space in his heart that was made for Electra. Wow I hope they both die.
