kind of wondering about zigs sexual history + identity like maybe their social worries bled into it? like they constantly feel like they're putting up a front/masking w most people they know, and that extends to their past sexual partners too? like they can't be themself. sometimes people don't like it when they giggle or act silly because it ruins the mood. sometimes people don't want their enthusiasm, like all they want is to bite and kiss and nuzzle and sensory seek and stuff but they don't get to do that. and they also end up in relationships where they don't really click with each other so like. they don't have that connection/compatibility.
and when they finally end up with joe I think they get a lot of satisfaction/fulfilment that they never got before. like they're with someone who wants them there. like really wants them there. he loves their unmasked self so much. he finds it comforting when they giggle or act silly and he likes to do the same. he loveeeeesssss being overwhelmed with kisses and bites and just zig kinda going crazy... they love seeing how clearly he lights up w pleasure when they're just being themself, and how he clearly wants them to feel good and have a good time as well. neither have any expectations for how the other should be or act or anything, they just love each other and want to enjoy themselves.
also while joe doesn't have any experience beyond zig I do wonder what his attitudes were towards sex before he met them.

I think he feels embarrassed and ashamed at thinking/feeling certain things about zig, like he does w romantic attraction at first.
I think he also probs is so deeply deeply touch starved that it bleeds into his sexuality. like he can't fathom that level of intimacy happening with *him*, he hasn't been hugged in decades let alone anything else. also I think he really struggles with the idea of being vulnerable with someone else.
maybe he struggles to think about what he's into/wants? idk like maybe he never fantasises about himself in situations, it's always other/faceless people. or maybe he does? idk I think he spends so long fantasising about being loved/cared for in a nonsexual way so it could extend to sexual stuff as well, but I'm not sure what works for him. i just don't knowww?? maybe he has these very vague fantasies and then he's horrified when ziggy begins to appear in them but also can't stop himself. idk

both are desperately falling in love with each other but can't be together so they just try the next best thing: hooking up every now and then and hoping that's enough to satisfy the growing holes in their chests. but it isn't and it gets harder and harder to deny their feelings for each other...
and joe is sooooooo not used to any sort of intimacy, and maybe he dives into it a bit too fast bc he wants it so bad but it kinda drives him crazy. like it's all A Lot and v overwhelming for him.
zig sometimes doesn't make the best decisions, theyre desperately trying to treat it like a casual thing. at the start they don't stay the night or anything when they visit joe in his tent, like they'll hook up and then have to go back to their planet shortly after. joe wants to ask them to stay but is allergic to that kind of vulnerability so doesn't. zig doesn't want to ask to stay bc they don't want to overstep and also want to try and have Distance to avoid their feelings from spiralling out of control.
and joe just ends up alone in his sleeping bag in the cold w all these thoughts and feelings swirling around in his mind and he's just been kissed in like. 100 different places that nobody's kissed him before. it's a lot. and zigs flying home wishing that they could take him with them but kicking themself so hard for feeling like that, and feeling super guilty, like "he doesnt deserve this". and they both think they should end it but they don't want to end it.
and they do eventually work it out. one night zig stays, and their relationship develops and becomes less casual. and they grow closer and one day sincerely admit their feelings to each other. and it's amazingggg but they still get broken up by senior :/

I think the reason I've been more active making freak headcanons rather than normal ones is because I already imagined so much of their non sex life and didn't wanna think about anything freaky w them. and now I wanna catch up
thinking about joe and zig maybe havin a lil kinda sappy routine afterwards... like as soon as they're done they both just melt into each others arms for a bit and cuddle naked + tangled up for a while and just wind down for a bit... I think especially joe gets super sleepy and clingy and doesn't want to stop being close to zig, esp because it's probs it's v intense for him so he just needs some time to relax and rest... maybe they'll kiss each other and mumble lil "I love yous" and ask each other if they had a good time n stuff...
then zig will eventually encourage joe to get out of bed before he falls asleep for real and they'll shower together and just enjoy the closeness of it. they'll check to make sure they didn't hurt each other or anything (like zig biting joe too hard or smth) and then get ready for bed all clean :')
and they'll make the bed all nice and stuff, like put the cushions and plushies that got thrown off back on the bed and change any sheets that need changing... and then get into bed all cuddled up... and they'll just be sweet and sappy... joe will trace all of zigs patterns with his fingertips and zig will gently kiss joes body all over and they'll fall asleep in each others arms so so content... unless sometimes when joes had his shot recently or he's just in a mood or something, he'll be lying there going like "fuck I need to do that allll again"
