I’m excited to announce that the “Rock-afire Artists Lounge” server is ready to join! Huge thanks to @m0mmat0rtle for stepping up to help make this server happen.
I want this space to be a safe place for artists to hangout and share their work with others, while collaborating on projects.
In order for this to be that way, there will be a form to fill out before gaining full access, so that we know who you are and your purpose for joining. Don’t worry, the form is only seen by admins and is not public to everyone else.
Being in the fandom for quite some time, I know there are a lot of people who are disruptive and make these spaces unenjoyable for the rest of us, that will not be allowed here at all.

I’ve been loving the Spirit Halloween fanart on Tumblr (there’s not much, but it’s awesome), especially with the newly revealed character, “Crackle”… so I decided to finally share one of the many pieces I have made of this nonsensical man, who we call Cotton Candy Dan.
Literally, anyone who’s obsessed with Spirit Halloween and pro haunt animatronics, please keep making fanart of them, and also feel free to talk my ear off about it too lmao.

Q&A
Q: Why am I making this group?
A: There are so many great artists that are in this fandom, and I want to create a place where artists can share their work, ask for feedback, and join projects.
Not only that, but I want to safe space for people to just hangout and make friends, knowingly having two things already in common, being an artist and a fan of the Rae.

Q: Are their requirements to enter?
A: Yes, you must be an artist of some kind. That is not limited to visual arts, but anyone who creates things (writing, music, video, photography, etc) and can prove it upon entry, is qualified to join the group.
This is a space for creatives, not just a fandom hangout corner, so this is the key requirement.

Q: What are the projects, and do I have to join them?
A: There are various project ideas in mind that will be further be explained in the server itself.
The project that started this whole idea is a Re-draw of the Rae Coloring Book, but there will be more.
You do not have to participate, and can solely just be a member of the group.

Q: Is this server exclusively about the Rae?
A: No, while it is the main focal point, there will be places to discuss other animatronics or topics in general.

Q: How is the server set up?
A: It’s a workshop and Hangout style server. The idea is to bring artists from all over to create something meaningful.
The workshop aspect of the server is specifically for artists of varying skill-level to help each other grow, and to ultimately learn from what everyone brings to the table.
We are a welcoming space for everyone, so we accept beginners all the way to professional level.
The hangout aspect of the server is just as it sounds, a place for general discussion.
While no one is pressured to participate in irl hangouts, there will be an intention of planning some semi-annual meetups.

We are very excited to start this new group and hope to have some cool projects started, and a lively and encouraging atmosphere for artists!
My first rough sketch, all hand drawn by a person, of one of the infamous pages within the RAE coloring book.
I’m so conflicted. I want to redraw everything, so the fans can have quality work to color and enjoy. At the same time, I am doing it for free, when someone should have been paid to do it in the first place.
Maybe the statement I am sending in itself, is worth the circumstance of doing it for free.
What are your thoughts? Perhaps I can team up with a few artists who are also passionate about it. We could all recreate these pages in our own styles to show just how much variety and talent is out there.

This is amazing, thank you for doing this! If I see the other pages, I’ll join you in redrawing them, so fans can have legit art to color. Show them what real art looks like.
There are literally so many artists who would lovingly make artwork for anything Rock-afire, me included.
TLDR: professional designer rants about the use of soulless AI art, and how what makes most old things special, is because people created it.
AI is lazy, and a lot of the times, it’s used by people who don’t understand art or the principles that go into design and illustration to know why it truly looks terrible. They certainly have no clue why the human element is important within art as well. Art is an expression of the human experience. Take that away, and it becomes soulless.
This fandom does not have an artist scarcity. I love all the artists here, because I love seeing everyone’s unique ways of interpreting my favorite characters.
I’m a professional designer myself. I work somewhere that appreciates artists and at the moment, AI cannot do what I do, and I don’t think it ever will. Everything I do is by hand, my own and my team’s ideas, I put a little bit of me into every project I work on.
Best of all, my work will be some random kid’s nostalgic memory one day. That’s important to me, to give them something to look back at with fondness, not to look back at some half-assed garbage that had not an ounce of humanity in it.
Why do people fall in love with older franchises? Because there is a human element in it, whether they even know that’s why or not. The Rock-afire was created in a time where everything had to be done by an actual person. Every single bit of it was done by people. That’s why we like it.
I am fed up with people and companies who have more money than they know what to do with, cheaping out on hiring a professional. Makes all your marketing and business look unofficial.
Can I say something. I literally do not give a shit if people call mechs “endoskeletons”
None of these names are technical and it just does not matter, that is a name it could be called, it still makes sense. There is literally no reason to be so uppity about it.
If someone gets mad about this, it’s usually a child. I rarely hear adult fans care 😭
Kids are the ones who nitpick every movement of a character, call themselves experts when they’re literally 9, and get personally offended if anyone else likes animatronics lmao.
People have shown interest in wanting to see my Rae children, so here’s one of them 😆
Meet Rolfe! He’ll say he has a lot of money, but will forget the detail that I am the one who gives him said money… to go to the mall, to go to bars, K-mart idk. He says he has to go out to start his career because he quote, “lives in LA now” or somethin along those lines.
But I am completely funding this man’s search to find himself. He does not pay rent, he does not contribute anything whatsoever. So let’s all hope Rolfe succeeds in following his dreams, I truly hope he does 😭
He did tell me about a sign twirling gig he had in the past. Apparently any publicity is good publicity. I mean, sure. Why not.

I know a lot of real animatronic fans do NOT like FNAF, but as a FNAF and real animatronic fan, I think you just need to know how to separate the two. I love FNAF because it was a huge part in my childhood and I love the stories. I love IRL animatronics like the Rock afire and CEC because its a beautiful art form. It's okay to like both of them
I’m the same, I like them for different reasons. I don’t take fnaf seriously at all, it’s just all for fun.
It’s also completely okay to have gotten into irl animatronics from liking fnaf first.
(One of my favorite YouTube comments is a kid who got into the Rae from a literal fnaf inspired analog horror video, not even Fnaf itself lmao)
Who cares if someone grew up with the RAE vs got into it through an adjacent interest. One does not make you any less of a fan.
There is so much unnecessary judgement of how people got into animatronics. Like who cares. I just think it’s awesome that there are enough people into such an obscure art form, that I am able to make friends from the hobby. I would’ve never guessed I’d make multiple irl friends from a hobby no one knows exists, but here we are.
And I’d be the first to say how annoying kids can be in the fandom. They message me asking for measurements, to sell stuff, where my characters are from, and other nonsense like, asking me why I got into the RAE so late in life as a literal 24 yr old. 💀
But in the end, I think it’s neat that their younger generation is getting into this and hope they can make something positive out of it.
And I love teaching and inspiring kids. I will happily introduce every irl fnaf kid in my life to the world of real animatronics who want to learn.
They’re so young, it’s hard to believe that the setting of fnaf was not an entirely fictional concept. Like woahhh it was based on something that actually existed? That’s pretty crazy and cool!
