something i find fascinating about works that are clearly inspired by homestuck is the way they relate to homestuck's whole deal. like. homestuck is very averse to actually creating something new, instead choosing to repurpose pieces from the old to make that new thing, and you kind of see this in deltarune in like, flowery being this re-envisioning of flowey, in the way the sanctuaries are exaggerated and broken upon repetition, in the reuse of undertale characters to begin with, but deltarune is also very much throwing new things at you all the time - that's the main momentum of aqua, acknowledging that tendency pretty directly, but that's also kind of the momentum of noelle on side b stuff, like. deltarune is always doing insane and new shit.

and i think the most interesting comparison is the fact that there are approximately 600 characters in vast error last time someone counted - and someone did count, that's not a made up number. i don't know if i have a point here, it's just on the mind as i work on araneabound, where a lot of it comes down to wanting to make something that's genuinely rich in experience while also sticking to the homestuck school of thought, repurposing old pieces in the shape of something new, more than the "make up a guy" school of thought
