Meet Killer a six year old  Belgian Malinois who has helped apprehend 15 poachers this year in Kruger National  Park.

Johan de Beer, kennel master at the Kruger canine unit said: ‘He’s had very good success so far, he’s very good on human scent tracking.’

De Beer said that despite his name Killer is a gentle dog who is great at his job.

He said: ‘He bites, but we don’t use him that much to bite, He’s actually a very placid dog. He likes riding in a chopper, stuff like that, he’s quite adventurous.’

A few miles outside Glacier National Park in northwest Montana is land known as the Badger-Two Medicine, the ancestral home of the Blackfeet tribe.

But it’s also the site of 18 oil and gas development leases, and an energy company is heading to federal court March 10 to fight for the right to drill there after decades of delay.

Blackfeet tribal historian John Murray doesn’t want the drilling to begin.
