Plot: Someone may have her attention, but he will always have her heart.
Format: one shot (possible two shot?)
Genre: fluff, (minor) drama, hint of romance
Pairing: Rafayel x F!Reader
Warning/Disclaimer: situational, potential ooc-ness, implied cheating but not really, minor violence
I never understood what it was like seeing someone, in a romantic sense to be specific. I was content being single, hanging out with my close friends. But for some reason when my sister noticed I wasn’t seeing someone at my age, she made it her mission to get me a boyfriend. At first, I humored her and went on a couple of blind dates but I just couldn’t click with any of the guys she introduced me to. They seemed nice at first, until the majority of them were persistent to get into a relationship after the first date.
I tried telling my sister this but she brushed it off, saying that she could find someone better. With this, I complained to my closest friend that I’ve known for years now.
“You’d think after the third guy, she would take the hint I wasn’t interested anymore.”
“Why did you decide to humor her in the first place? This could’ve been avoided if you just said no.”
“Rafayel, I tried, I really did.”
He rolled his eyes, sighing while shaking his head. “Were the guys even to your tastes? She should know that at least.”
“I don’t think I ever told her what my type was, she went off of my personality I guess.” I told him, now wondering why she never asked about what type of guys I liked. “Maybe she thought they would click well with me.”
“What is your type then?” Rafayel asked, leaning a little closer with an eyebrow raised.
My cheeks flushed with warmth and I avoided his gaze, laughing nervously from how close he was. “I-I actually don’t know. I only ever had one crush in my entire life.”
“And who was that?” He prodded, furrowing his brows and pursing his lips together.
“He was someone I met in college. We shared a class together and would run into each other coincidentally during lunch.” I said, recalling my college days. “Though it was a small crush, he had a girlfriend at the time so I didn’t push anything other than friends. I think I still have his number but it’s been a while, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t remember or deleted mine.” There was a long silence between us but I thought nothing of it, probably assuming he was processing my words or something. “It would be a miracle if we ran into each other someday.”
And I just had to open my mouth to say that because the very next day, my sister begged me to give this one guy she found a chance. I had half a mind to reject her but she promised after this blind date, she’ll leave me alone- clearly she finally saw I wasn’t interested in dating at all.
The plot twist? It ended up being the guy who I had a crush on in college.
He and I stared at each other in surprise before recovering from the shock. I didn’t know whether to say ‘good to see you again’ or not, but then the thought hit me- does this mean he broke up with his girlfriend?
What the hell am I saying- of course he did otherwise why would he be going on blind dates.
We sat across from each other at the cafe my sister set us up to meet. There was a small awkward silence before he cleared his throat and I snapped my eyes up to meet his. “To think we would meet each other again, how long has it been?”
“Well over a year, haha.” I replied, quite surprised yet happy he remembered me. Although I’ll refrain from asking about his now ex-girlfriend, its up to him if he wanted to disclose it or not. “How’ve you been? I stopped attending the following semester, school is just not for me. But I ended up getting an apprenticeship under a well-known artist!”
His brows shot up in surprise. “Wow, you’re just one step closer to your dream! I remember you loved drawing and were an art major, correct?”
I nodded my head. “Yup!” We talked for more than an hour, catching up on the lost time since we last saw each other and it felt like the good ol’ college days all over again. By the end of our blind date, the sun was going down and we parted ways. He offered to drive me home but I shook my head, saying I was staying at a friend’s house nearby. We exchanged numbers, but to my surprise he kept his old one, so we didn’t need an update either way.
As I stepped through the door, Rafayel bounced up to me and leaned in close, making me gasp in surprise before pushing his face away with one hand. “The heck was that for-”
“Tell me everything.” He said, pushing his face against my hand to lean back into my face. “Everything.” After recapping what happened, his expression turned sour and his lips pursed into a pout. “So now I have to share you with another guy?”
I snorted, not phased by his little tantrum. “It’s not official yet! Plus…” I trailed off, feeling my smile drop. “While it was nice to see him again, the feelings I had for him are long gone.”
“So does this mean…?”
“I don’t object to being friends, though. I’ll keep meeting up with him to rebuild the friendship we once had.” I continued, watching the way his expression turned sour again. Reaching out, I playfully pinched his cheek with my other hand. “Relax, I’ll still have the time to hang out with you.”
Or so I thought- but don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t on purpose.
The next time I met up with Chris, Rafayel dropped me off and of course, they saw each other. They had a stare off and I didn’t know if it was a good idea for them to have met at the time. It was like a switch went off between the two of them; Chris started being a little more affectionate than a friend which ticked Rafayel off, and in response my best friend would demand more sleepovers at his place.
He had asked to meet up one day, but I couldn’t because I already promised Rafayel I would attend an art exhibition with him for his art pieces. I didn’t get a reply, which I assumed he understood, but when Rafayel and I arrived outside the venue, I was shocked to see him there with a bouquet of flowers.
Chris approached me and stretched out the bouquet for me to take, but I continued to look at him in shock, wondering why he was here. “Chris, I’m flattered but what are you doing here?”
Looking me in the eye, he leaned down to my height with a serious expression. “The reason I wanted to meet up with you today is because…” His cheeks flushed a faint pink and all of a sudden he appeared shy. “I wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend.”
There was a long, long period of silence between the three of us and luckily it was only us. If the press were here, it would cause a big scandal or something and that is the last thing I wanted- especially for Rafayel.
Then a scoff and amused chuckle came from the artist himself, covering his mouth with one hand. I can just imagine the grin behind it. “How bold of you to proclaim your puppy love in front of my date tonight.”
Heat bloomed in my cheeks at the word ‘date’, but it's not like I’m in a committed relationship with either of them…so it's technically not like I’m two-timing, right?
“Date?” Chris looked at me in distraught. “But I thought we had something going on?”
I furrowed my brows in confusion. “We had nothing going on, Chris.”
His expression turned angry. “So you were leading me on this entire time?!” I flinched from the loudness of his voice, moving closer to Rafayel who pulled me behind him. “I took time out of my day to be with you and suddenly you’re moving onto another man you claim to be your best friend? Why couldn’t you just tell me-”
“Why are you making it sound like I’m cheating with you? We’re not even together! We were literally on the talking stage!” I screamed at him while watching my voice so as to not attract attention.
However my words went completely over his head and instead his next words made my blood run cold. “You need to choose, me or him?” He jabbed a finger at Rafayel, causing anger to flare within me. “It has to be me, right? Of course you’d choose me, I met you first I bet.”
“Oh really, did she?” Rafayel’s icey voice pierced the air. He had me completely stand behind him, so I couldn’t see the expression on his face. “I met her way before she went to the college you met her in, I paid for her tuition, I paid for the dress she’s wearing right now. What have you given her?”
“Tsk. This is useless, have fun riding off of him.” Christ said, which stung, not gonna lie.
“Hey.” Rafayel stepped forward, before reeling his other hand and thrusting it forward to come into contact with Chris’s face. “Talk to her like that again, I will end whatever career you have. Mark my words.”
That was the last time I saw Chris, as he stumbled away pathetically holding his bruised cheek. Now it was just Rafayel and I. He spun around, his usual cheery smile on his face as he gave me his hand to take. “Shall we go, my lady?”
Giggling to myself, I gently placed my hands in his as he moved it to lace our fingers together, then tugged me in the direction to the building. Checking the time on his watch, we were a couple of minutes late. But I wasn’t gonna let this one mishap get in the way of enjoying my night with him. After all, he was right about one thing.
I didn’t understand why my boyfriend would nag me to bring him lunch today when he always told me he would eat something at work. Before, I would offer to make him something so he doesn’t have to spend money everyday but he would turn it down. What made it so special he asked today? He didn’t give me anything specific to work with, so I cooked him one of his favorite foods. I had arrived at the hospital not too long ago, the staff were kind to let me through even though I didn’t have an appointment.
As I was waiting for the elevator, there was someone approaching me from the corner of my eye. I turned my head to see someone I never thought I’d run into again.
“I didn’t know you worked here, Zayne.” I spoke to him as he stood next to me. His body stiffened a little before turning his head to look at me, and his body relaxed soon after.
“What are the odds we’d run into each other today.” His suave yet deep voice sent little shivers down my spine, when was the last time his voice sounded this mature? “What brings you to the hospital today, are you unwell?”
I shook my head, bringing up the packed lunch in my hands for him to see. “I’m fine, but my boyfriend wanted me to bring him lunch today. So I made him something.” His brows furrowed in confusion, slightly tilting his head to the side.
“You have a boyfriend?”
“Yeah, his name is Erick. Erick Johnson.”
Zayne raised his eyebrows in surprise before covering it up quickly, I thought I had imagined it. The elevator soon arrived and we got on together. I told him what floor I was going to and he pressed it for me. We stood in slight awkward silence, before shyly asking him if he knew my boyfriend.
He nodded his head. “Dr. Johnson is a colleague of mine. Though we work in different departments, I’d say he’s a fairly good doctor.”
“Is that so? A shame he didn’t mention you, I would’ve come by to visit more often.” I chirped, ecstatic to run into an old friend today.
“Oh? Under what pretense? Do you have a primary care physician here?” Zayne asked, a bit of playfulness etched into his voice.
I let out a small laugh. “Not this hospital, but is it bad to visit an old friend from time to time? I haven’t heard from you in years and this is where you’ve been! We could’ve met up sooner.”
Before Zayne could say anything else, the elevator arrived at our destination. I was about to say goodbye but he insisted on walking me over to Erick’s office. I didn’t object to it, happy to speak with him more. Maybe I can ask for his number so we can keep in touch?
As we approached the office, I was about to knock on his door before hesitating. What if I came at the wrong time or he was busy? But it was close to lunchtime and he said he was having his break soon. So with enough courage, I knocked on his door and heard Erick’s voice on the other side. Grabbing the handle with one hand, I bid Zayne goodbye before he opened his mouth and spoke.
“If you’re still here within the next hour, my office is just upstairs. Turn left and it's the fourth door down to the right, it would be nice if we could speak a little longer.” He told me.
“Got it! I’ll be there.” I responded to him. He left soon after with a wave of his hand, and I entered my boyfriend’s office.
He wasn’t alone and the strong smell of perfume wafted into my nose, making me crinkle it from the intensity. There was a nurse there who was fidgeting nervously, I don’t know why. Meanwhile my boyfriend looked a bit stiff, even with that smile on his face. I looked back and forth between them, noticing the slight tension in the room. Should I…leave? I mean, after dropping off his food of course.
“Did I come at a bad time? Uh, here…I brought you lunch like you asked.” I hesitantly stepped forward and placed his packed lunch on his desk.
“Why didn’t you text me you were coming?” Erick’s cold voice cut me off, making me freeze midway from placing it on his desk.
“I-I did, I sent a message on the way here, didn’t you get it?” I said to him, confused by his sudden coldness. He continued to eye me coldly and it was making me uncomfortable. “S-So did you want your lunch or-”
“Don’t act sassy with me, leave it here and go. I’m having a bad day as it is and you being here is making it worse.” I flinched at his harsh words, placing the tupperware on his desk. The nurse in the room giggled and I shot her a glare. “Treat my coworker with respect, she did nothing wrong.
Is this man being for real right now? I turned my glare to him, taking back his food. “Then you can fucking starve for all I care. She can get you food instead, asshat.” Without giving him a chance to reply, I stomped out of the room and made my way to Zayne’s. Hopefully he wasn’t busy. I followed his directions and stood in front of his door, a little hesitant to knock. But I gathered the courage and knocked three times.
After hearing him say come in, I grabbed the handle and turned, peeking my head inside. He looked up from his desk and made eye contact with me. With one hand, he gestured I could come in and I went inside, closing the door behind me. I walked over to sit on one of the chairs laid out in his office, placing the packed food on my lap. My little fight with my boyfriend earlier made me restless, but I hope Zayne didn’t notice.
It was quiet for a moment before he spoke. “Did something happen? You still have Dr. Johnson’s food in your hands.”
I tightened my grip on the food a little, before slowly meeting his gaze. “I…I had a small fight with him. Seems like I came at the wrong time because he was in a bad mood, he was being rude and in retaliation I took his food back.” I let out an awkward laugh. “Pretty childish of me, huh? But I couldn’t help it, he was pissing me off.” Now what am I going to do with this food?
“You have every right to feel the way you do, doing nothing would only make him feel like his words are justified.” Zayne spoke calmly. “What a shame, such perfectly good food is going to waste.” Although he didn’t sound remorseful at all, I caught onto the slight playful tone in his voice.
This could be wrong in so many ways, but I trust Zayne more than anyone. “Would you…would you like to eat it? I mean, if you’ve had lunch already its fine-”
“To taste your cooking? I’d be glad to.” He cut me off with a small smile, reaching out and waiting for me to give him the plastic bag. “It’s been a while, I’m feeling a bit peckish now just thinking about it.” And this is how I spent the next hour or so, catching up with Zayne made me forget about the dispute I had with Erick.
Well, until he barged into the room. He saw the two of us together and his expression turned angry. Oh no, I know where this is going and I need to stop it before it gets out of hand.
“Erick-”
“Excuse me, Dr. Zayne, I’m here to pick up my girlfriend. I hope she didn’t trouble you.” Erick cut me off, a tight smile on his face, but I knew he was irritated. I looked at Zayne, screaming an apology at him through my eyes in hopes he would understand. “(Y/N), let's go. I decided to head home early today.” While that would’ve made me happy, I felt uneasy with his tone of voice. I knew we were going to argue when we got back to our apartment. “(Y/N).”
I flinch at the way he sneered my name, staying rooted in my seat and shaking.
“I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you to leave, Dr. Johnson.” Zayne spoke up, voice icey cold. “You’re interrupting an appointment between my patient and I.” Blinking incredulously, I must’ve heard him wrong.
“Your patient? Last time I heard she wasn’t your doctor.” I frowned at the rudeness directed towards Zayne, I wasn’t stupid enough to piece together Zayne held a higher position than him.
“Well, as of today, she is.” Zayne lifted a document in his hand. I leaned in to read through a little and my eyes widened when I saw he was now my primary care physician from today onward. It was a transfer of approval from my previous PCP, granting Zayne to be mine. “So please, take your deplorable attitude out of my office.”
Erick was fuming at this point, and I was about to say something before he spoke. “(Y/N), you have a choice; me or him. Who will it be?”
His eyes bore holes into mine while Zayne calmly looked at me, patiently waiting.
My eyes moved back and forth between them, landing on Erick a little longer as I contemplated my choice. But he seemed to think otherwise.
“She chose me.” He said smugly, about to walk over but stopped at Zayne’s voice.
“Did she?” As I avoided Erick’s gaze, scooting a little closer to Zayne’s desk. He got up from his chair and walked around, standing on the other side of me. “I believe she has made her choice. Leave. I won’t say it another time.” Despite the coldness in his tone of voice, I didn’t feel threatened by it.
Peering from behind him, Erick was absolutely fuming, glaring at Zayne before meeting my gaze. “You will come home either way. Then, we’ll have a talk, (Y/N).” He then turned and left the office, slamming the door loudly behind him.
There was a long round of silence and I let out a shaky breath, realizing how shaken up my body was. Zayne quickly turned around and kneeled down, taking my hands into his. “Are you okay?” His voice was soft and gentle.
“I’ll be fine.” I whispered to him, not wanting to go home after this. Not like I want to avoid him, but Erick isn’t in the right mind at the moment. Anything can happen when he’s not level minded. Plus I prefer to talk when emotions won’t get in the way. “I just, I don’t know how to face him. He’s scary when he’s angry…”
“Has he done anything to you?” Zayne’s voice was urgent and I bit my lip anxiously. He saw and narrowed his eyes. “(Y/N), did he?”
I lowered my head, nodding. “He has before, and apologized, but he did it more than once. Although he doesn’t remember it and I never told him because he was drunk. Even if I did, he would accuse me of lying and we’d end up fighting again…” I lifted my head, feeling my eyes water and my body shake from fear. “I-I don’t know what to do, I think he’ll end up doing it again since I’ve upsetted him.”
The shade in his eyes grew darker, menacingly, but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. Zayne being angry didn’t scare me, because it wasn’t directed at me- but at Erick. “I suggest leaving him as soon as possible, but with how you’re reacting right now, you’ve tried.” I shakily nodded my head, feeling a sob on the back of my throat.
“I-I’ll find something-”
“Stay with me.”
“...huh?”
“I have more than enough room for you at my place. Plus, wouldn’t this be a good opportunity to make up for lost time?” The iceness in his voice melted away, back to being warm and gentle. “You’ll be safe with me, (Y/N).”
“Are you sure?” My voice was barely above a whisper, not believing he would suggest that. “I don’t want to be a bother-”
Zayne reached out to brush a tear from under my eye, making my breath hitch from the soft expression on his face than his usual aloof one. “It hurts me to see you mistreated by a man that's supposed to protect you, not harm you.” I let the tears fall and was soon brought into a hug by him, which was rare, but I’ll take it while it lasts.
He had a few more appointments to deal with before he was off, so I decided to wait for him. After his last patient left, he gathered up his things and we left his office to find a very disturbing sight.
Erick and that nurse were a little too close for comfort down the hall, and soon enough the gap closed as she leaned in to press their lips together. I know I should be more upset than I should, but I just felt…numb. It hurt to see, but with what transpired throughout the day and our entire relationship, it didn’t surprise me he would cheat on me one day. After he pulled away, his head turned and he saw me. His expression distorted into one of panic and pushed her away, speedily walking over to us.
“(Y/N), that wasn’t what it looked like-” I took a step to hide behind Zayne, who easily towered and covered me from him. “Dr. Zayne-”
“Seems like my intuition was right, you and Nurse O’Connor were always close with each other it seemed a little too intimate.” His words made my eyes widen in alarm. “How unfortunate your disloyalty was the beginning of your downfall. (Y/N) deserved better.”
“And who are you to say that? She and I haven’t broken up.” Erick sneered at him.
“Do you really think she’ll stay with a scumbag like you?” Zayne’s ice cold voice boomed throughout the hallway, where other employees and lingering patients heard it loud and clear. “You must be out of your mind if she’ll ever come back to you after witnessing it firsthand that another woman is throwing herself at you and instead of pushing her away, you welcomed it.” The silence that followed was loud, tension so thick and I could feel the pointed stares everyone was giving Erick.
Using the silence as a distraction, Zayne took my hand in his and briskly walked over to the elevator. I looked over my shoulder to see Erick rooted in place, head downcast. Nothing but bitterness is what I felt for him at the moment, he didn’t deserve my pity. As Zayne and I stood in the elevator in silence, I almost forgot his hand holding mine. I was about to pull away to save the awkwardness but he held on a little tighter, running his thumb comfortingly over my knuckle. It magically eased my nerves and I held his hand back just as firmly.

I never thought I would get caught up in a dispute with my boyfriend, just because I didn’t want to hang out with him for one day. Which either turned into the best or worst day of my life.
Don’t get me wrong, I love spending quality time with him, but just for that day I wanted to spend time alone. I don’t know where my boyfriend got the idea that I was upset with him or something, but he took it the wrong way when I told him that. We ended up arguing about it, which I didn’t expect for it to become a big deal to him. In the end, he kicked me out of our shared apartment and now I’m stranded with nowhere to stay.
Until I took out my phone to call someone. A couple of rings and I heard them pick up, sleepily speaking into the phone. I had half a mind to hang up because I didn’t mean to wake them up, but I should’ve figured they’d be asleep around this time. I opened my mouth to apologize but was cut off.
“(Y/N)?”
Guess I can’t back out now. “Sorry Xavier, did I wake you up?” There was some shuffling going on at his end before he spoke again.
“It's nothing to worry about, I’ll always make time for you.” My heart fluttered at his words, warmth spreading across my cheeks momentarily. “Is something the matter?”
He was quick to catch on, whether he knew or not. I let out a sigh, running my other hand through my hair in distress. “Is it okay if I can stay over tonight? I…I got into a fight with Daniel and he kicked me out.”
“Tell me where you are, I’ll come to you.” Xavier sounded more awake, with a slight urgent tone to his voice.
“No really, it's okay! I remember where you live, I just wanted to ask permission.” It’s embarrassing enough I admitted to being kicked out of my own apartment, now he’s dragging himself out of bed for me. “Xavier-”
“You’re out there alone, at night, (Y/N).” He cut me off, voice going soft. “Now, where are you?”
And this is how I found myself spending the night at his apartment. I’ve been here a couple of times, even after I began dating Daniel. He’s aware of Xavier, as I see no reason to hide my best friend from him. Although, instead of getting along with him, Daniel would get riled up whenever Xavier was mentioned or I would be spending time with him. It was a little irritating, because Xavier was a really close friend of mine. I don’t restrict my boyfriend from hanging out with his friends, hell, some of them are girls but they have their own boyfriends. Plus I’ve met them a couple of times, they’re pretty friendly, but I wouldn’t consider us friends per say.
After using the shower, which Xavier insisted I use, I made myself comfortable in his comfy apartment. The hint of warm sweet vanilla lingered in the air, just as how I’d imagine him to smell like…not to be weird.
He was in the kitchen preparing something, even though I said I was fine as is, but he insisted. So here I am waiting at the dining table to see what he has prepared for me. A couple of minutes went by before a hot mug of hot chocolate with whip cream on top was served in front of me. I gasped, feeling a wave of happiness wash over me, before looking up to see Xavier smiling at me softly.
“Thought this might cheer you up and keep you warm at the same time. I made it just how you like it.” He said to me, sliding into the seat across. “But I never expected your boyfriend to take this refusal to spend time with him seriously. From what you told me, it was only for today.”
I let out an annoyed huff, rolling my eyes, remembering our argument earlier. “See, you understand me, Xavier. Which reminds me…” After taking a careful sip of my hot coco, I set it down on the table before shooting him a sheepish smile. “Thank you for letting me stay the night, it really means alot to me.”
He shook his head, leaning onto the palm of his hand. “You’re always welcome here, I gave you the spare key too. So you’re free to stop by whenever.”
I pursed my lips into a pout. “Not unannounced though, what if I catch you in the middle of something or you have guests over?”
“Last time I checked, I rarely have anyone over aside from you. I don’t know my neighbors that well either, so it's not like I go out of my way to introduce myself to them. They keep to themselves and I’ll do the same, it's simple.” He made a point, nothing I can’t argue against.
“Point taken. Well, expect me to drop by more often in the future.” I chirped, taking another careful sip of my hot drink.
“I’d very much like that.” Xavier’s voice was gentle and I felt so much at ease with him.
If I didn’t move in with Daniel, I would’ve moved into this apartment complex he lived in. The rent wasn’t that bad, and I had a minimal paying job that would help sustain it. Xavier offered me to move in with him at one point, because he had more than enough room for one more person, but I declined his offer because I didn’t want to overcrowd his place.
Sometimes I wished I took him up on his offer. Because the apartment I shared with Daniel felt more like it was his, while my only share of the place is in the bedroom and bathroom. He wanted to decorate the place to his liking and when I wanted to put up my own, he would get fussy about how guests would think the place had a ‘womanly touch’ to it. That highly offended me and I opted to break up with him around the time. I wonder why I didn’t.
After drinking in comfortable silence, movement from across the table caught my eye. It was Xavier nodding off, barely keeping his eyes open. I held back a giggle, finishing my hot coco and waving my hand at him. He blinked, sitting up straight and looked at me like a lost bunny.
“If you’re that tired Xavier, you should go to sleep. I’ll be staying up a little longer, I don’t feel that tired yet.” I said to him, seeing the way he struggled to stay awake.
“But I don’t want to leave you alone.” My heart churned at his consideration. “Maybe I should make myself a cup of coffee…” He was about to get up but I stopped him, gently grabbing his wrist.
“No, you’re going to bed, mister.” I raised a brow at him. “Don’t you have work in the morning?”
Although he rarely showed emotions, I could tell right away what he was feeling after knowing him for a while. His lips pursed into a small pout and looked away from my gaze. “I mean, it's not like they’ll need me-”
It took a couple of minutes of persuasion to convince Xavier to head to bed, with the condition I get ready alongside him and see him off to bed. Not his words, mine. To be honest, it wasn’t any different from the other times I stayed over. We would get ready around the same time, before bidding each other good night to head to our respective rooms.
I leaned against the doorframe to his room, watching him slip under the covers of his bed sleepily. As he got comfortable, I pushed myself off and was about to close his door when he called out to me.
“Good night, (Y/N). See you in the morning.” Despite his eyes already halfway closed, he made sure to bid me good night before falling asleep entirely.
The corners of my lips curled into a smile. “G’night Xav, I’ll see you later.” I closed the door to his room quietly, before making my way back to the living room. All the lights were turned off but with the moonlight seeping through the curtains was enough for a guideline to make my way out to his balcony.
I shivered a little from the cool breeze that hit my face, but luckily I had one of Xavier’s warm sweaters to keep me warm. As I shut the sliding door behind me, I walked over to one of the lounge chairs outside and sat down. It was silent for a moment before my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. Taking it out, I frowned seeing Daniel’s name on the screen. Huffing in annoyance, I let my phone ring as I held it in my hand.
After a few persistent calls, he finally gave up after the tenth attempt. Rolling my eyes, I put my phone on do not disturb and slid it back into my pocket. I didn’t feel like speaking to him, maybe in the morning we’ll have a talk but right now I want nothing to do with him. This is a stupid argument and he reacted so childishly to it. I don’t know how long I spent outside, but I remember getting into bed and falling asleep at least.
When morning came, I felt pleasantly refreshed but the muffled sound of voices outside caught my attention. I slipped out of the guest room to see Xavier in the living room while on the phone, seemingly arguing with someone. Judging by how he raised his voice while still keeping a calm composure, the irritation in his eyes was evident. As I stepped into his view, he quickly snapped his head over, body relaxing somewhat as I titled my head to the side wondering who he was speaking with.
“Even if she was with me, why would you think I’ll let you see her? I wasn’t the one who kicked her out because of a pointless argument.” My eyes widened in alarm, already knowing who was on the phone with him. I frowned, not expecting Daniel to call Xavier right away. He didn’t even like him in the first place, how did he get his number? “She’ll come back on her own accord, leave her be.”
I took a step forward, outstretching my hand so he could give me the phone but he shook his head. Instead he gently pushed my hand down but lightly held onto my fingers. I couldn’t hear what was being said on Daniel’s side, but it couldn’t have been good with the way Xavier’s eyes darkened and his jaw clenched.
“Did she?” Xavier said, sounding eerily calm, as his grip on my fingers tightened a little. “We’ll see about that.” Then he hung up soon after.
I was getting increasingly worried that Xavier was getting caught up in my stupid problem with my boyfriend. I know I was the one who called him but I don’t want him to get hurt if it came to it.
“I-”
“Your boyfriend is something.” He spoke before I could, annoyance laced in his voice. “He wants you to choose between him and I.”
“What?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, has Daniel lost his mind or something? Why would he make me choose between him and my best friend?
If it were any other girl, the choice would’ve been obvious. Well, if they were that stupid and blind.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my boyfriend, but if he really loved me he wouldn’t let me choose- let alone with anything to begin with.
Seeing as it was just Xavier and I, that's enough for me. Since after this I won’t be going back to that suffocating apartment. I took a step forward, seeing Xavier met me halfway and brought me into a hug. I felt his hand run down my back soothingly, while I laid my head against his chest.
“Is this what you want?” Xavier whispered, pressing his cheek on my head.
Was it not obvious?
“Always.” I replied, feeling his arms tighten around me and that was a big reminder that my only sense of comfort and security always came from him.
Screw dying right now, I’m the reason y’all are dead. I’ll be rocking his fit, leaving a single blue tootsie roll as a calling card after each death/jk
I wouldn’t mind dying in that fit with a bucket of candy by my side though. I’m a child at heart. ❤️

Plot: You brought a little extra baked goods from home for lunch.
Genre(s): fluff, friendship
Warning/Disclaimer: situational, you and Mikey are classmates, a little ooc, implied female reader
Pairing: Mikey x Reader
The moment the teacher dismissed your class for lunch, everyone left their seats not even a couple of seconds later. You watched with a deadpan expression before leaning over to get your backpack, opening it to fish out your lunch. However, your expression quickly melted into one of disbelief and panic in one. Inside, a dozen of the baked goods were inside—how they heck do you not notice?
A long yet quiet sigh left your lips before picking out a couple of dorayaki and placing it on your desk. You were sure your mother packed your bag this morning…she especially knew how much you loved her home baked dorayaki.
As you were about to eat out, the door to your classroom slammed ever-not-so-gently and in came inside the classmate you rarely saw.
He looked around before his dark abyss looking eyes landed on yours.
“Ah, someone is in here.” His voice drawled, unbothered. You furrowed your eyebrows before turning your eyes away from him, wanting to enjoy your snack. All of a sudden you heard gasp from him and a sudden rush of footsteps heading in your direction.
Before you could even look up, you already felt his presence at your desk. Slowly lifting your head, you nearly jumped from how close he was standing—but what caught you off guard was the bright gleam in his eyes and…slight drool coming from his mouth.
“Can I have one?!” He pointed at the dorayaki on your desk, nearly bouncing on the heels of his feet in excitement. “Please?!”
A bit overwhelmed, you watched as he took not one but all of the remaining dorayaki on your desk. Flabbergasted, you subconsciously tightened the grip on the one you held in your hands. You didn’t even have time to reprimand him that he only asked for one before he took a seat next to you.
He happily ripped the package open and began munching on one. A satisfied hum left his mouth and he looked over at you with stuffed cheeks. “These are good! Did you make them?”
“N-No…my mom did.” You uttered, hearing him hum again.
“Do you have more of them?” He asked, already finished with three of them. There were two more left, three if you’re counting the one you had.
“No, you took the last of them.” You replied, beginning to eat yours. His face fell a little and you could’ve sworn a smidge of guilt ran through them but it was gone in a split second.
“Ah, I see.” There was a small silence between the two of you. You didn’t mind it but you could tell he was thinking about something. “Here, you can have it—“
Shaking your head, you smiled at your constantly absent classmate. “It’s okay, I can always ask my mom to make more. I have other snacks to eat anyway.” You gestured to your bag.
“Are you sure?” His voice sounded a little hesitant.
Nodding your head, you reached into your bag and pulled out more of the snacks your mom packed. You didn’t miss the way his eyes lit up when you showed them to him. Before he could even say anything, you spoke. “Want to share them with me?”
And it was from that little moment, your classmate began to eat with you during lunch break. He always looked forward to what snacks you would bring, then one day he brought someone along.
“Ken-chin, meet (y/n)-chan! (Y/n)-chan, this is Ken-chin.” Your classmate introduced you to each other.
“Don’t call me that—“ The tall male scrunched his face up in annoyance before turning to you with a normal expression. “The names Draken. Mikey wanted me to meet you.”
Your classmate, Mikey, nodded his head happily before going on a tangent about how your mom makes the best dorayaki he’s ever eaten. In the midst of it, Draken sent you an apologetic look and hidden message in his eyes. You giggled, eyes twinkling with amusement before shrugging playfully. He appeared surprised on how laid back you were about his best friend’s antic, before a small smile formed on his face.
“Hey, hey- are you listening!” Mikey whined, causing the smile to be wiped off of Draken’s face and he deadpanned. “We should hang out after school—or wait, why not now? What do you say, (y/n)-chan?”
You didn’t know if that was a good thing Mikey liked being around you, all because you had a little more food you couldn’t handle for lunch.
Plot: His smile was one of the things you like about him.
Genre(s): fluff
Warning/Disclaimer: situational, soft pinning, mentions of Hidden Inventory Arc, GN reader(?)
Pairing: Gojo Satoru x Reader
If there was one thing you liked seeing in people, was their smile. Gojo Satoru was one of them.
Although half of the time he was smiling out of amusement or mockery for his opponents, there were some times it would be genuine and filled with warmth.
Those types of smiles, you liked seeing on him.
You’ve seen those rare smile of his when he watches over his students in the distance, eating his favorite food or sweet, and messing around with everyone. But unbeknownst to you, he smiles the fullest when it comes to you.
Given your history with him, you were classmates back when he was a first year. You were there when he was given the mission to protect and deliver the star plasma vessel…to Riko’s untimely death…to Suguru’s expulsion. When he was at his lowest, you were there by his side through it all. Usually someone would want to be by themselves, but Gojo was the one who sought you out first.
The news had reached you by then, before he stood outside your dorm room and knocked a familiar tune only you would know it was him. You’d rather not recall how his expression was, but you could tell it weighed him down.
His usual happy go lucky grin was nowhere to be seen, only a grim expression stared back at you. You never wanted to see that look on his face again. Whether it was stupid or not, you made it your personal mission to make sure he keeps a smile on his face. It worked.
But not for the reason you thought it was.
Of course, Gojo kept this to himself and continued to share gentle smiles around you. An expression he reserved just for you, to be specific. He wouldn’t let anyone know he can be this soft, he was the strongest after all.
Although as his close friend, you knew better.
“You’re a lot happier nowadays.” You told him once, watching the way he subtly flinched before slowly turning his head in your direction.
“What do you mean? I’m always happy! My students show me all the love and attention—“ You held back a snort, recalling Maki’s words from earlier that were far from friendly. “—and I get to spend the evening with my favorite person in the world~”
Your cheeks flared with warmth, flushing pink. “O-Oi! Don’t say stupid things like that!” But you couldn’t help the spread of fondness within you, his words made you happy.
“But it’s true.” Gojo’s voice suddenly went soft, which would’ve been out of character for him if it were anyone else listening. “You make me happy, (Y/N).” His eyes, which were completely ridden from his typical blindfold or shades so you could see the deep blue in them, stared into yours with fondness reflecting in them.
“Is that so?” You hummed, feeling your lips curl into a small smile. “Then, you make me happy too, Satoru.”
Gojo’s lips mirrored your smile, the one you know and love. “Hehe, I am your favorite, right?” Rolling your eyes at him, although halfheartedly, you shook your head causing him to pout.
