this fort was UNBELIEVABLY fucked. genuinely "i didnt know this was a horror game" type shit - it took me by surprise. numbers dwindled really low until only cerol and asmel were left.
everyone who came in had to trudge through a blizzard or freakish rain. some people got lucky if they dashed through it but most times if you were hit by the rain you'd look like this:

but the syndrome gets worse
some dwarves were, incredibly, able to come back from the second stage; but not when it was like this.
honestly i can't do justice how terrifying this fort was, especially as someone with maybe not the deepest knowledge of best practices in the game - i was very underequipped.
the helplessness of my dwarves suddenly starting to die, hurrying them underground, forbidding stocks, locking doors, letting dwarves out to brave the rain so they could eat or access critical resources... watching new arrivals and wild animals all succumb to the rain without a chance was harrowing.
i wasn't prepared, and resources got scant, especially persons. there was no choice but to take things on chance, or opt for the least worst choice, and it particularly hurt to see the last dwarf before cerol and asmel succumb to the syndrome. i was hoping she'd make it out alright.
