Hey, Jess here!! Rook and I have some fun content planned for this upcoming week but I thought I would make a little post with some cool nature-mental wellness facts! Sources linked below.
1 - Regularly interacting with nature improves memory, cognitive flexibility, and attentional control.
2 - Interacting with nature is proven to lower stress.
3 - It only takes a few moments in nature to begin receiving effects!!!
4 -Being out in nature gives your nervous system the perfect chance to rest and recharge, leading to a calmer attitude and better sleep
5 - And for these reasons (and more), spending time in nature can lower irritability, loneliness, anger, and restlessness
Now, how can we get out in Nature more in ways that are actually feasible? Here's some ideas:
-taking a 5 minute walk (or just walking 2-3 laps around your house or apartment complex)
- Sitting outside while you read one chapter of a book / for one subject of homework
- eating lunch outside
- Going outside and touching a tree/some sort of plant while you name 3 things you see and 3 things you smell
- Offer to take your neighbors dog for a walk

Dream log 1
-
Last night I had this dream, which ended waking me up for some reason so I was able to write it in my notebook before I forgot!
I was back in my childhood home, somewhere I haven't been since probably 2014.
My mother was still alive and in the kitchen, making herself something to drink.
In my dream everything felt hazy, yknow like dreams do.
I made my way to the kitchen and hugged my mom. I was semi aware that it was a dream and in real life she was long passed, but it just seemed normal. It wasn't such a thing of missing her.
She told me to put my shoes on and go outside, that there was something she'd forgotten out back.
I did as she asked, of course.
When I got out to the back yard, it wasn't my backyard at the time. It was my backyard that I have now. Which is interesting, because my childhood home was in the country and my current home is in the city.
When I tried to get back home, it wasn't there.
But there was a man
I vaugley remember him
A family friend
He asked me how I was, as if it were the most normal situation.
We exchanged some small tall, and then he said goodbye and headed off.
By this point I had 'forgotten' my previous task, and went inside my apartment complex (the one I currently live in)
Weird!
Dreams are so weird. But so interesting.
I think I'll start a dream log
sorry for not posting for a couple months - lots happened. Now returning to our regularly scheduled programing
Nice to see you back!
