Bug Friends: Cystosoma saundersii

Got a request to draw a cicada, and I chose the bladdar cicada that I saw last September (my photos under cut)

The males have massive hollow bums :D and they sound like incredibly loud frogs✨

today i ate 5 raspberries, 5 blackberries and 6 cherries! a teeny tiny microscopic bug came out of one of the raspberries so we shared the raspberry together it was a nice time

In addition to the monarch caterpillars there were also milkweed beetles, aphids, ants farming aphids, native ladybugs, numerous small pollinator flies, at least three species of bee, two species of wasp, at least ten species of spiders, AND A TURTLE???

I thought it was one of my child's toy balls, lost in the grass, and I tried to nudge it aside with my foot and then the ball HISSED 🤣

Like damn, friend, I knew this little patch of jungle was good skink habitat* - but is it really wet enough for you???

*(I will try to get pictures of them at some point but they're fast - mostly five lines and broadheads)
