What an interesting thing to joke about! I guess this very kind person is being ironic, but it’s still absolutely insensitive to use that to get your point (or treats) across.

If you haven’t already, message Pamela Parks at [email protected] and let her know how wrong it is to tour Russia in the current political climate of this CLEARLY hostile country. Until there is no regime change in Russia and the war crimes committed against Ukraine are still in full effect, it’s utterly ridiculous that an American band should tour there.

No, Russian citizens are not all responsible for the war. Yes, this is a totalitarian state, and it’s not easy to rebel. But an American band touring this country is indirectly encouraging the regime in place by not acknowledging what is going on in Russia and in Ukraine.

It’s turning a blind eye to the situation which comes back to my suspicions that David Ellefson’s Russian tour is a money grab to profit on the misery of people who are starved for international artists.

‼️Kings of Thrash touring Russia‼️

Hello, everyone! I know most people don’t give a damn about Kings of Thrash (David Ellefson’s band), but I wanted to bring this to the attention of anyone who might care. Kings of Thrash are scheduled to tour Russia this upcoming March while this country is still boycotted by any band who respects themselves. The ongoing war crimes that Russia is committing in Ukraine are sickening and anyone with a sliver of humanity left in their hearts wouldn’t tour a country who perpetrates such horrors. Not only has David Ellefson and his band lost all of my respect, but I also fear for their safety. The US government has issued a NO TRAVEL advisory for any American who would think travelling to Russia is a good idea.

I urge you to contact Kings of Thrash’s management, Ms. Pamela Parks ([email protected]), and let her know what you think of this decision.

As an example, this is the email I sent her:

Hello Ms. Parks,

As a fan and someone with common sense, I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with Kings of Thrash’s recent announcement on their website about their upcoming tour in Russia. The boycott on foreign bands performing in Russia remains in effect, and any band that truly values its integrity would avoid such a location. The ongoing war crimes and genocide against the Ukrainian people are unacceptable, and anyone with any sense of humanity would not support a country that is internationally recognized as a pariah and aggressor by performing there. This is a mockery of the suffering endured by the Ukrainian people.

Furthermore, I’m concerned about the well-being of the band members. As their management, I believe you should be aware of the clear travel advisory issued by the US government: https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/travel-advisories/russia.html

I wanted to bring these concerns to your attention, and I must admit that I’ve lost all respect for the band. I will not be purchasing tickets to see them, as I had initially planned.
