I find it interesting how both Rhaenyra and Alicent revert to wearing the colour of their mothers when they want comfort or go undercover - both House Arryn and Florent have blue in their coat of arms, and both Aemma and Alyrie have worn it.

Even more interesting to me is that Helaena wore blue at her coronation, and that now Aegon also walks around in a blue cape while in pain and hiding.

Something that kind of bugs me about the A Song of Ice and Fire books and especially Fire and Blood is that there are certain interpretations of the text that make perfect narrative sense, but I get the impression that GRRM has no clue they exist.

When I first read Fire & Blood, I assumed that Nettles was probably Daemon’s bastard daughter AND his mistress since he explicitly has a habit of grooming young girls. That isn’t subtext, that’s canon!

I also thought Jaehaerys (the Conciliator) was sexually abusing his daughters given the fact all of them show textbook signs of it. His youngest daughter, who slept in his sister-wife’s bed every night, committed suicide after becoming pregnant by some mysterious singer nobody remembers and having a stillbirth, and I assumed that GRRM was implying that Jaehaerys himself was the father.

It just doesn’t make any logical sense that a family built on incest, the universal taboo, implicitly understands that brother-sister relationship are a-okay but parent-child ones aren’t, and the Aemond-Alicent kiss in season 3 episode 1 of House of the Dragon didn’t come out of thin air!! None of us just fell out of a coconut tree, we exist in the context of all in which we live and what came before us.

But then I got online and read what other people believed, and I realized that almost nobody agreed with me, and that GRRM probably didn’t intend to imply what I interpreted. I know I’m not a crazy pervert for assuming those things from the text, and maybe the implications were totally unintentional, but it all just feels so coincidental.
