Invincible United music taste headcanons - Part 2
⋆˙⟡ — Small Disclaimer: These are purely headcanons that I did for fun, if you don't agree with something from my side then it's alright, you have your own headcanons and I have mine. I only did this solely out of fun and boredom, and also because I love adding unnecessary things to characters.
Wanted to originally just keep this with Supa Strikas but now I'm in too deep, so here we are. Since we only got a good handful reveal of other players in different teams besides the main 9, some whose names are unknown while we know others, to keep an easier overlook of things I will just stick with 9 players per team.
To also keep a good overlook on who exactly is who, I will also include the individual jersey numbers of each player for the ones whose names haven't been stated. Also big thanks to @yanxioustrikas on this part for letting me include some of their headcanons for IC's players names as well as ethnicities to build off their individual tastes based on their background. I really appreciate it <3
When he and Shakes were still in high school, they had kind of a shared music taste, both going for what was trending at the time in the hip hop scene, was a huge fan of Boyzn Bucks when they started out
Over the years the two separated themselves from that though, with Shakes turning into more of the kasi type while Skarra grew more into trap and drill rap
Pretty on track with what's trending in the U.S.A as well as Nigeria and Ghana though from home, his favorite artists would be AKA, Kashcpt, Frank Casino and Usimamane
Has a workout playlist that consists primarily of Gqom songs that he doesn't want anyone to know about
Listening wise I don't really think he would really care about the lyrics, anything that just gets him in the mood like motivated before a match, jogging music, that sort of
A huge concert-goer during his freetime, met lots of idols of his through his fame who he also frequently tags in his instagram stories, attends many rooftop parties on the side
Has tried to launch his own rap career, but was kindly persuaded out of it. That diss track against Shakes was likely the only song he got produced and acts like it's his greatest accomplishment ever, probably has like a fake golden record of it framed
Ever since Dee has figured out his password for spotify, she's been secretly putting in like cheesy girl pop songs into his workout playlists, and he wouldn't even notice at first, only then when he's playing it (Safe to say, he has had to change his password 5 times, and yes, Dee has managed to crack every single one of them)
Tried to breakdance once. Never again.

I feel so conflicted with him, he'd either be the type to be a complete girly pop feminist or have the entire soundtrack to My little pony memorized. I'm choosing to go with girly pop on this one though, because come on, you can not look at this man and not tell me that he wouldn't adore Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter or even Lana Del Rey
As a child he really didn't care for the typical music like on radios, he was rather more addicted to the tunes on Croccie and was the type of kid to sing them 24/7. Shoutout to his parents for bearing through it
Once he got older he finally got to MTV where he got really interested in american pop, specifically Britney Spears
He would be more like Klaus in a way that he only really cares about stuff that sounds good, like beat-wise, a consistent pattern and something quick for him to enjoy but he's doesn't define himself to one genre (Feel like he would also be one of those that like songs that are only trending on Tiktok)
Listens mostly to catchy pop bangers to dance to
This is more of a canonical fact already, but speaking of Klaus, these two definitely sing Croccie songs whenever they meet on match day
Favorite artists would be Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Doja Cat and Dua Lipa
Of course the other guys occasionally make fun of him for this, but it's not much of a big deal, even more so since he got them to cry once while listening to Taylor Swift
Nilam tried to introduce him once to a more broader variety to get him to stop playing the same song over and over during warm-ups, but nothing has stuck from that conversation for Dingaan, only that he then learned about hyper pop. Also K-pop

Two words, hard bass and incoherent noise. I feel like he would just about listen to any type of really heavy stuff, like that'll just make your ears bleed.
May be wrong but I feel like he had a death metal phase during high school but later on felt that they weren't heavy enough and so now he's more into hard techno and reverse bass
Adding onto that, he doesn't strike me as someone that would necessarily care about what the song directly is about either, again acting more about the beat and pace.
Wouldn't really care much for real music either, again, liking more noise than words
Favorite Artists as such are Toxic Machinery, DJSM, DNIXX and FennX
Nowadays goes out a lot of those underground hard edm parties, but only if he has time for it, also gets caught up in fights a lot there. Honestly he starts fights without any reason really, even if someone just looks at him funny
Kind of uses loud techno as stress regulation, like if he's pissed off the volume goes up. Has done it a couple of times in the locker room without using any headphones and the others had to pull through with it because they all were too scared to tell him to turn it down
Type of guy to play the most loudest tech in his car ever with the windows down, and has done so multiple times (I feel sorry for his neighbors who have to live next to him)
When he was still in refab, they probably had mixed in some ambience noise to his drugs to really get him calm. Because of that, he sometimes finds himself putting on lo-fi beats and just stares at the ceiling, doing nothing
For some reason he has an entire playlist consisting of french rap, but he doesn't even know french

Grew up more surrounded with folk due to his parents, but progressive rock also played a big role in his teenagehood
He eventually got into Kalindula, as well as Amapiano when he came to South africa and the Web had him introduced to their scene.
His preferences are a bit over the place, he is open to listen to different genres but even when he does, he prefers to stick with his own current favorites
Such as PK Chishala, Angela Nyirenda, James Sakala and Tabu Ley Rochereau
The only one on the entire team that has shelves filled with vinyls at home, likely only him and Nilam have that tbh, only ones still refusing to go digital
Back when he was with Supa Strikas, he and Rasta were similar in belief that music is way better when played live
Got into regular arguments with El Matador back then too over how Latin house was just way too awful to be enjoyed as good music
For someone who typically never goes to concerts though, he always manages to somehow meet the most famous of artists while on holiday. He doesn't know or recognize any of them but they always know him for some reason and ask to take a selfie. (Literally had Beyonce once ask for a selfie with him)
Is not really the dance type, like he outright refuses to attend any celebration or event that has that involved one way or another while his wife is the total opposite of that

Meu Amor by Reubie the Artist
Asibe Happy by Kabza de Small

Came from a well-off family in the suburbs but didn't really feel understood by both his parents or other family members, so he rebelled out a lot due to that
I dunno, he always struck me as someone who would like Kasi Rap too but the mohawk like hairstyle gives me other ideas, may be reading into this too much but anyways
Bit of a street punk with a preference for Kasi rap, so I think it's a mix with him
Let a friend of his do his hair, because neither had money for a professional back then, and has since then proudly rocked the same thing for years, even now into his later career. Also because he refuses to do anything else with it. (Imagine his parents' shock when he came home one day with that)
Traded Cd's and records with people from a local venue downtown, which led him to discover american punk as well as Crust Punk. Had like Bad Religion running nonstop as a teen
While he still is a sort of hardcore type of guy, he also likes to listen to other genres besides that but won't try anything mainstream. Has been rocking with underground artists since he was a teen and will continue on like that
With Patrick having introduced him to Kasi Rap, he quickly became a fan of Optical Illusion which ended up in his top 10 favorites
Favorite Artists as such are Powerage, Skollie and Gross Misconduct
Dalika once offered him to listen to Bisrock with him, which he found quite good despite not understanding tagalog a bit

He's a big house music fan, especially Kwaito and sometimes even Roots, his parents had records of multiple artists playing up and down during his childhood and since then, his taste hasn't really changed much either, he's a family guy
Lived in a pretty tight-knit community so he regularly went over to house parties in his neighbourhood, for all sorts of celebrations. Because of that, he associates music more with events, it doesn't matter on the genre and more on the memories that it creates it with friends or family
The designated Dj for all IC parties, mostly puts on Kwaito but nobody is really bothered by it. Benjamin sometimes tries to hijack the music to put his stuff on, but he is just as quick stopped
Since his taste hasn't changed much over the years, I imagine the same thing would go for artists of his, like Brown Dash for example
Along with Kabelo, Mashamplani and Brothers of Peace
Is the team's best dancer. Once Ms. Altivo held a competition to see who had the greatest moves in the whole league and this dude left with 3 trophies in hand
Both him and Dingaan tear it up so often at parties, they just work together so good
I can definitely see him having a wife and children, so maybe he wouldn't be much of a concert-goer because it's way too crowded for him, and so would rather stick with enjoying the music with his wife, maybe dancing together even in their living room
His children can't really stand listening to it, their kind of different, but it's all in good fun -- they just prefer more hip hop

His Mother had her eye on everything that was trending in the charts, she was more old school and thrived for bengali pop hits while his father was a different case (even now both Nilam and his father can't quite stand her music taste, but it's not meant in a harsh way)
As a little kid he often went out with him, since he was a fisherman, alongside with friends of his out onto the sea, where he was quickly introduced to folk songs such as bhatiyali and shari
Became a later fan of folk rock that started his love for Moheener Ghoraguli, with his father gifting him an album of theirs for his birthday
Though over the years, he has kind of mellowed out more. Favorite artists are of course Moheener Ghoraguli, Band Lalon, Metrolife and Bohubrihi
Don't think he would really be genre picky, cares more about the lyrics and overall messages in songs, like about yearning for love or melancholy so the genre technically depends. One time he played a death metal song because it was about the singer's deceased mother, and he confused the rest of the team so badly with it
Probably cried to a lot of Mitski songs
He gives me the vibes of someone that would drive out late at night, either in the city or on the highway while playing some chillwave or ambience
Spends more time putting together playlists than actually listening to them
Unforgettable by French Montana
Langa linye by Mduduzi Ncube

Grew up in a very rough neighborhood back in Ireland, where his family didn't care much for music. Later on with 15, he found a local underground club that let bands play metal and rock, a dangerous place but at that time this is where he started to get involved with early heavy metal
His parents couldn't stand it, so he sometimes had to hide records and vinyls that he bought with friends in bushes outside their home to get them later at night to sneak in
Once he joined Invincible United, Patrick got him into tech and electro genres, which eventually led to industrial metal and bands such as Lluther
Favorite artists are of course Lluther, I know the butcher, Therapy? and Gama Bomb
Used to download all of his music illegally onto CD's and mixtapes and even does it nowadays too because he can't stand the subscriptions prizes
Feel like he gets along with Dooma the most, music-wise since they thrive off loudness
While Blade was still captain, he definitely had like a mixtape just filled with 80s pop songs to "motivate" the team during warm-ups. One song on it being 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' that everybody else just hated, they can't even stand hearing it nowadays but of course Benjamin makes sure to sing it as loud as he can every chance he gets, just to annoy them (Dingaan always joins him by the Da d-da da parts)
Can't stand anything cheesy at all, like love ballads, pop and just overall slow-paced songs
Agents of Empire by Lluther
Of the Machine by Shiv-R
Burn the Witches by Darkcell
Avenge me by Gama Bomb
Deadened by Front Line Assembly
His Parents were the total opposite of him, being more into Pinoy Reggae than anything popular in the charts while Dakila was super into the pop stars at the time
It's embarrassing for him to admit it now, but back then he was a huge fan of Sharon Cuneta, like he had full-on posters of her on his walls and wrote fan post to her
Had a short-lived phase in his early 20s where he began to really get into Trip-Hop but it didn't very last long when he bought a cd from Eraserheads and has since then gotten more into pop rock from that point on
Favorite artists are Eraserheads, Kamikazee, December Avenue and Sugardrive
Known in the league as one of the more musically talented players, loves to sing and occasionally gets invited to acoustic jam outs on some independent youtube music channels (Safe to say that he treats it very seriously)
Used to play in a band once he got to South Africa as a lead singer, which is also very well-known of in the super league
I feel like he's still bitter towards Skarra for having been given the go to sing for Balls 4 all even though he knew too that it was one of Vince's schemes
Firm believer in that the B-sides of records are better than the A-sides
Thinks musicals are the most insufferable thing created ever, like when the Strikas got their own musical, he immediately took it to Natter and put together so many reasons as to why it was just wrong and also clowned on the team over how they even gave their permission for it in the first place. (Benjamin puts on songs from the soundtrack at random points in the day just to annoy him)
Ikaw Lang by NOBITA
Eroplanong Papel by December Avenue
Ang Huling El Bimbo by Eraserheads
Magbalik by Callalily
Halik by Kamikazee
I can not figure this guy out for the life of me, he looks like someone who would listen to old 90s rap or some stereotypical evil manager in a movie or tv show who'd exploit a musician's talent for money. Knowing him, I'm pretty sure that was part of his past career
Hot take here, but hear me out, he gives me vibes of someone that listens to progressive soul and calls it the best genre ever and would absolutely refuse to try anything else
With that I also think that he wouldn't have a lot of favorite artists, maybe just Gil Scott-Heron and Billy Paul, because he doesn't see the need for any others when he already sees them as the greatest to have ever done it
I just know Vince keeps his record stacks under lock and key, literally, in a full on safe because he doesn't want anyone to know what he likes so that it can be used against him
Definitely sings along, or at least hums, to them when alone in his office
The others don't think that he even likes music at all, or is even capable of feeling or expressing joy at such things. They probably think his favorite music genre is silence
Rumors say that the only person who truly ever heard him sing was an older player, but since that day he was never seen or heard from ever again
Had to take piano lessons as a child because his mother forced him to, partially because he was a little gangster from young on and constantly cheated while playing with other children his age
