Hey, I'm writing this message pretty late, mostly because I'm super anxious and I've been trying to build up the courage to write to you for several weeks (lol).
Firstly, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating these games and characters that I've come to love so very much. I genuinely can't even express through words what I feel and how grateful I am for the games you make (obviously, I'm going to try anyways, lmao). Uh, just so you know, English isn't my first language, so please excuse any weird spelling or wording.
Anyway, just like any other lonely (and a bit delulu) individual, I spend most of my free time playing video games, because why not? Pygmalion's Folly was the first one I played from you, and oh boy, was it something else. The story was great and Flor got me squeaking like crazy, especially because on my first playthrough I wanted to be nice and picked the choices that I thought he might like (?). I definitely played it several times (and I loved it). Flor is definitely my type, ngl; (actually, androgynous men just... I don't know, they look meow :3). I actually played the remastered version just for fun and realized there is still one CG I didn't get for some reason. I'll probably return to it and try every single possible combination to get it lol, it's fine.
Secondly, I don't know why I'm writing you such a long essay. Maybe it's because I genuinely love your games and characters, and it's kinda cool in a non-creepy way to show support to a developer (though that totally sounds a bit like smth a creep would say, ngl).
NOW, you know Crux, right? I love him. I downloaded the game in December 2024 (I think; my memory is trash, but the last log said that, so we rollin'). I love your art style a lot, so of course I had to get into RH too. Playing the game, though... I was so intimidated by Crux and his weird bedroom eyes that I genuinely told myself I cannot play this game and not turn into a puddle on the couch. A couple of months ago, I was cleaning my laptop because I needed space for PAVEL (:3, he is so cute omg) and I was like... eyyyyy, Crux and CO. So, I started playing for three days straight in order to get everything in-game. I'm not even sure I'm done with it, lmao. Seeing Crux again is like seeing an ex that I never got over, jeez. Would you believe me if I told you I cried real tears a couple of times at night just because it hit me that he is not real? I mean, he is real because I'm delulu and, of course, once something is made it exists in the universe forever, but like, he is not mine? Horrible, I know.
Once again, thank you so, so much for creating these amazing games. After I finished playing, I had to go through all the posts you've made on Tumblr because of the lore, of course (and the smexy things). Yeah, hopefully the universe will get Crux into my room at some point. Genuinely, please take your time with this project because it's so worth it; it is so detailed and amazing that I cannot even find the right words. Crux is definitely my IRL type, even though I'd probably fumble real bad for everyone else in the game, especially Black and Vin. Can I just mention that the intermission was so cool? I got a jump scare when I saw Bishop because I was on my fifth playthrough and I was speeding through it. Frankly, I thought I was seeing thingsācreepy dude, ngl, made me look behind my back for a sec right there. Am I a bit sad there was no new Crux art in the game? A bit, like 10%, but I'm ok. Did I feel a bit weird at the "you have an eating disorder or smth" line? Yeah... I was arguing with him IRL. I don't know what to say, burn me at the stake. I'm not even religious anymore, but bless you for existing, you're amazing.
Also, also, Crux knows Sanskrit? I recently got a tattoo in that language (the universe wants us together, ngl), so I don't know...it's cool.
In addition to the essay, I wanted to ask something that occurred to me recently. We know that Crux smokes like an old chimney. You know those old-school European trains that leave black smoke you can see from 5 kilometers away? That's Crux on a daily basis. Now, I'm something of an occasional smoker; I smoke if I remember to do it, but even then, I sometimes start coughing. You know what I wanna know? It's a bit funny (to me at least). You said at some point that Crux never got sick, but like, did he ever start coughing in the middle of the shabangalang? I don't know why, but it's a funny idea. You know, since at the end of chapter 1 he was diving in like a dolphin and all that? My man didn't even cough; he didn't even breathe (unless he was breathing through the cooch, which is fair enough tho). I can just picture him coughing violently, or at least doing that thing with his throat when you feel like there is something stuck in it. I'm sorry... lol. (He might apologize for it, I think, I hope).
Also, Crux is the keeper of the island, from what that pretty witch lady told us. Technically, it could mean two things: one, he can't leave the place but others might; or two, if he does, the place goes poof. Don't answer that (you probably won't either way, lol). I think everyone else is pretty clear for now in-game. I need Crux on a spiritual level, though, so please make that happen, legend.
One more thing about RH (for now): the "curse" that falls upon us if we don't follow all the steps at the store thingy. We've seen (and Crux said it too) that it kinda sticks to us, which is why we couldn't help Grete at the festival (I totally did not cry a bit). My question is, if we go with the curse plotline, will it keep manifesting itself? Or is it like a one-time thing? It's probably spoilers, but I had to ask, lol.
I also wanted to get a tattoo for it (probably after the game is done). I was thinking of Crux's cross on the neck (what were the chances?), but I'll probably have to wait for the whole game to finish and then think of something cool.
Lastly, this part is for the hitman game. I like how it's going so far; every single character is pretty cool and has a good backstory, ngl. I don't know why, but Wendy kinda reminds me a bit of Katherine Knight (without the cannibal part). She has that look on her face that screams psycho; I don't know how to describe it, but you drew it pretty cool. Maybe it's those dead eyes and that smile that looks... funky.
I just remembered something else (I'm sorry, I swear I'm not totally annoying, and you don't have to read this lol, it's a lot). Someone asked at some point if Crux was a sociopath and you said yes; I have to ask though, will we see more of this? Or is he just that good at hiding it? You said he hated showing anger, so he hides it well I guess, but what about his suicidal thoughts? And narcissistic traits? Or maybe I got it wrong. In one instance, when he comes to our place and asks to hang out, if we refuse he just steps inside (which was cute as hell because I totally want to cuddle with Crux and chomp on his shoulder) and we can ask things about him. Maybe there is more to his personality that we will see with time, but I thought that sociopaths don't really get the whole "I hate myself" thing (I could be wrong though, lol).
On the same note (last question, I swear), I wanted to ask about Bishop. Could he be considered a psychopath (I'm not sure if you answered this before) or just an average man (jk jk, unless?) He kinda strikes me as a classic psycho, but maybe I need to actually read more about things like this. Oh, and also, which one of the hitman cast would pull a Joe Goldberg? The whole glass cage and stalking thing? I call dibs on Pasha for some reason. I wanted to say Gwyn too, but he seems too confident in himself.
Anyway, I think this is enough for now. I'm not sure if I managed to properly express how much I love your games and characters, but I hope I didn't sound too weird about it! I'm super happy I discovered them and I wish you only the best. Take care!
Hello! Thank you for your thoughts! I'm glad you like my stuff so much :D
There's a lot of points here, but let me try and tackle the ones I can answer...
First off, Crux has the most CGs and he's going to get a new one in the new update hahaha. That boy can wait!
He does cough sometimes, but it's never that serious, lol.
Re: the curse, there's a whole plotline about that, but if it already happened to you, the Gatekeeper is not going to take something else. It was more to demonstrate the control fairies can have when their terms are not satisfied.
I have never claimed Crux is a sociopath! We had to look for the post you mentioned. Was it this one??? By latter I meant the latter sentence, not "sociopath." He's just an asshole. I make jokes about him being a psycho but officially speaking, he is not!
Bishop is not a psychopath. He is a normal human being that was conditioned to perform atrocities during service and developed his personality around that. Bishop is horrifying because war is horrifying!
I don't know that reference, LOL
