hc that rindou is a really creative person. he loves street art, drawing graffiti and stamping stickers on lampposts. he’s so city boy coded. sure spends high school drawing in the sides of his notebooks, loves mixing music and creating songs
now ran has the idea of having a matching tattoo, but didn’t come up with anything specific. is rindou who gets excited and designs it. even if it’s a matching tattoo, he makes sure it’s different and really personalized. he takes their name meaning, gentians and orchids, and the place they were born in, roppongi hills and its emblematic spider sculpture. ran loves it, because it’s super cool and maintains their own personality. they didn’t think that much about what could happen later
but eventually things happen. izana dies and the tenjiku dream its over, ran shuts off from everyone, rindou's alcoholic issues get worse. they tried to get together again in rokuhara tandai, but it’s late for them. bonten ends with everything, takes tenjiku's ashes and turns them into something bigger and darker than before. they drift away. a lot
which doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t care for each other. ran was raised as an older brother, he can’t just scape from the feeling of needing to protect his little brother no matter what —and it’s that feeling which accidentally caused him to treat rindou like an idiot sometimes, making feel like a stupid insignificant kid, the thing that started rindou's inferiority complex way before people started paying more attention to him rather than rindou. he still cares but looks from distance because they’re already adults and have their own lives
he wonders what rindou thinks of their tattoo, if it’s something horrible or if it’s still cool and intimidating
the truth it’s complicated. rindou feels like he will always be a part of ran and viceversa, even if it’s personalized. he doesn’t care that people sees him as incomplete when they’re not together, because he always gave a fuck about others and only cares about his own feelings but— it’s big, and it doesn’t leave space for getting other tattoos he might like. he feels weird sometimes, specially when time passes and starts forgetting things from when he was a teen that thought everything would always be colorful and fun
rindou doesn’t hate it, but sure feels off
ran likes it until the very end. after all, they will always be brothers, no matter what, there’s nothing that can erase that fact
at some point in bonten they reach out and start hanging out at late night, maybe at empty bars, to drink something. they’re silent most of the time, they’re trying to remember what was feeling like the haitani brothers and not like ran and rindou. they wonder when did it started being that way
