when you are eating chips you will often be like well how about one more chip? and then you will eat one more chip and be like well how about one more chip? and what do you think happens after that?
hey here's a website for downloading any video or image from any website.
works w/ youtube, soundcloud, twitch, twitter (gifs and videos), tumblr (video and audio), and most other websites you're probably lookin to download stuff off of.
for anyone wondering about privacy and whatnot, i'm happy to say that the developers are pretty committed to have 0 trackers and 0 data retention. you can read more in their "about" section, but here's the basic important stuff:
COBALT MENTIONED OUTSIDE OF TWITTER???

Lynne Shayko, “To The Daughter Who Secretly Longs For Her Mother’s Affection”
stephanie hsu i am sending u my therapy bills
that daughterhood feeling of slipping out of your body, trying on different bones, adjusting the marrow so that your mother might look at you, might love you enough. that daughterhood feeling of being simultaneously five and fifteen and fifty-five. of counting the rings of your spinal column to make sure. of being haunted by the vengeance of every version of you that didn’t make it out of that house alive.
Brian Lin, "My Family’s Failures Took Center Stage in Everything Everywhere All At Once" [x]
Tanjiro's optimism is a good thing. It isn't weak or naive to hope especially in a world devoid of it. In fact it is most necessary to let our positivity fuel change in the world. In everything everywhere all at once, waymond says "When I choose to see the good side of things, I'm not being naive. It is strategic and necessary. It's how I learned to survive through everything. I know you see yourself as a fighter. Well, I see myself as one too. This is how I fight"
For the other characters, whose whole world has been nothing but loss and violence, it must be difficult to open themselves up to the vulnerability of optimism. It is far easier to stay on the ground than soar high the crash back down to pieces. I can't blame them either; they've lived in a world that has been cruel and hostile towards them since they were young. On top of that they have a career of hunting monsters. Their initial biases of the horridness of the world is confirmed night after night. It's not easy to be enveloped in blinding, suffocating darkness and believe that there's anything but it, so it's easier for the older, more experienced Hashira to reject tanjiro's idealistic view of the world
Contrary to their assumption though, Tanjiro inhabits the same world as them. His optimism is an active and brave choice, because of his awareness of the bleakness of their surroundings, he is like this because of it. He lost his family, violently and untimely. His sister turned into a demon and he also faced many demons who committed horrible acts, but he hasn't let that take away his ability to see the good in the world and in people, no matter how dim that light may be. Tanjiro's kind and compassionate nature compels him to see everyone's humanity, which is why he never gives up on people and decides to treat them with dignity and heart. Because of Tanjiro's desire to heal Nezuko he can't afford pessimism. He needs to look forward, do his best and continue to hope, since his sister's life depends on it
Narratively, tanjiro's beliefs are also vindicated, as every interaction he has with any other character—lead with hope and compassion—has resulted in good change whether directly or indirectly. So, while the other characters' position is understandable. Tanjiro's optimism is also compelling and founded on experiences and convictions

everything everywhere all at once really said that you can be a million different people in a million different universes but in every one the thing you desire most will be companionship and in every single one you will have to fight for that companionship and in every single one you will realize that the fight has to be made of kindness and love or you will despair and lose all hope. and then they said that the only thing that can save every universe is reaching out your hand when someone offers it to you, and that you have to offer your hand to someone, even when they tell you to give up. and also they named their villain joy and the villain wasn't trying to destory anything she was just looking for her mom and she changed her name but across every universe her mom realized that in the middle of all the despair and destruction her greatest joy was still her daughter. i'm unwell

thinking about eeaao again and the choice to translate movie star universes waymond's speech to "in another life, i would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you". because thats such an insane translation that doesn't capture the heart of his words. thats not what hes saying!!! hes saying "IF WE HAD another life, i still would have CHOSEN to do laundry and taxes with you". hes not being wistful for some hypothetical alternate universe, hes saying KNOWING ALL HE KNOWS, LIVING THE INCREDIBLE LIFE HE HAS LIVED, IF HE COULD DO IT AGAIN, HE WOULD CHOOSE THE LAUNDRY AND TAXES, BECAUSE HE'D HAVE HER

the thing about code or language switching is that its almost always context-based and purposeful. strip it of its context and it becomes frivolous and meaningless.
the reason “hola mi nombre es juan. oh my god I didn’t realize I was speaking spanish.” is ridiculous is because it’s exceedingly rare anyones going to accidentally switch languages. in everything everywhere all at once, they speak chinglish to each other. they never accidentally speak mandarin to deirdre in the IRS office for example because that would be ridiculous.
eeaao is such a splendid depiction of this. especially due to the varying levels of mastery across their generations. its clear joy understands mandarin but doesn’t speak it (except when jobu is trying to be dramatic). she doesn’t have enough grip of cantonese to tell gong gong that becky is her girlfriend but she understands enough to know evelyn doesn’t say it. you have to understand that Both of these things can be true for this scene to hit so hard. in particular, i love the back and forth between waymond and evelyn. she fully switches to english when speaking to alpha-waymond. but switches back and forth with her waymond in a way that feels so reflective of speaking languages that represent home in different ways. with an ease you can only grow into with someone having grown up in both environments.
that daughterhood feeling of wanting to blame your mother for how you turned out, wanting to be angry at her for how you’ve inherited her pain and her insecurities, but at the same time wanting to keep coming home to her, out of everyone else in the universe, because you know that if there’s anyone who might be anything like you–if there’s anyone who might even have a clue of what it’s like to be you–it could only be her. and no matter how many times you’ve hurt each other, no matter how difficult it might be to get her to truly see you, you still just want her to love you as you are, to tell you that this isn’t your fault, and to show you that she would keep letting you come home to her.
