"What counts as 'knowing'?" - Knowing more than just the absolute basics about someone! You've seen clips, maybe follow them online, maybe seen videos of theirs or are even an active viewer!
I also add genre/country/language/identity tags for searching and stats. I don't know everything about every MCYTer - I try to pull this info from Wikitubia, public social media profiles, etc! So I may miss some things!
