I have been told that I have a tendency to talk too much, so I usually just try and stay quiet unless Mr. Cutter needs something from me!

Have you had a lot of experience with AIs? I've never met another one. I bet it's amazing getting to talk to all of them!

The doctor had been found on the side of the road by a frightened passerby. She'd been rushed to the hospital. From there, after her Goddard microchip was identified, she'd been brought to a different kind of hospital.

The kind of hospital for people who didn't quite fit the norm of what civilian doctors were looking for.

There was a knock on the door of the room. A muffled voice spoke:

"Doctor Maxwell? May I come in?"

She startles, looking up at the door. Her vision is blurry, she realizes, only half worried about that. Right now, she's much more concerned with whoever is outside that door.

Kepler would tell her to take stock. Analyze the surroundings, see if she's injured, see if she can find any clues as to where she is.

She's trying. She's injured, obviously, if the blood means anything. She seems to be in something like a hospital, or a research lab. Neither of the options are very comforting.

She's alone, aside from whoever is outside the door. She's on her own.

So, fine, she'll play along.

She carried with her, perhaps predictably, a clipboard.

"It's good to see you awake. How are you feeling?"

She's still bleeding. How is she still bleeding?

"Tell me who you are, and maybe we can chat."

"My name is Doctor Mercury. I'm a neurologist. I've been assigned to your case."

"What's the last thing you remember, before waking up here?"

"The crew I was with got scared. They got violent. It went south pretty fast."

Her hands are shaking. God, she'd sounded so smug, hadn't she? She wonders what was more satisfying for Minkowski, managing to pull the trigger, or finally seeing Maxwell be wrong about something.

"Someone had to bite the literal-metaphorical bullet."

There is footage of your body being sent into the star known as Wolf359.

You were subsequently found on the side of the road about four days ago."

"My name is Doctor Mercury. I'm a neurologist. I've been assigned to your case."

"Right. And what's my case?"

"What's the last thing you remember, before waking up here?"

"A mutiny." She chooses her words carefully. Nothing more than the basics.

"The crew I was with got scared. They got violent. It went south pretty fast."

Her hands are shaking. God, she'd sounded so smug, hadn't she? She wonders what was more satisfying for Minkowski, managing to pull the trigger, or finally seeing Maxwell be wrong about something.

"Someone had to bite the literal-metaphorical bullet."

The original crew of the vessel mutinied. You were knocked unconscious, and tied to a chair. During a... Standoff between Lieutenant Commander Renée Minkowski and Daniel Jacobi, you were shot. Point blank, through the skull.

Does that all sound correct?"

"Yes." She sounds a bit strange, she thinks. Maybe a bit light headed? Then again, she's thinking like she's observing herself through someone else's eyes, so she might be a bit more off than usual.

"Yes, that sounds about right."

Her head hurts. Not in the way that headaches usually do, like she stayed up too late working on a project that Jacobi will yell at her for, but like she's been hit on the head half a dozen times.

When she sits up, the room spins, and her vision blacks out for a moment. Worrying.

When her vision does come back, she isn't reassured in the slightest. She's in a room she's never seen, but it reminds her an awful lot of what Goddard's labs looked like. God, she hasn't been there in ages.

Something warm falls down her face. She frowns, lifting a hand up.

It's blood. She's bleeding. She can't remember why, exactly, but it was probably a mission. Must've been. She doesn't know what else it would be-

The doctor had been found on the side of the road by a frightened passerby. She'd been rushed to the hospital. From there, after her Goddard microchip was identified, she'd been brought to a different kind of hospital.

The kind of hospital for people who didn't quite fit the norm of what civilian doctors were looking for.

There was a knock on the door of the room. A muffled voice spoke:

"Doctor Maxwell? May I come in?"

She startles, looking up at the door. Her vision is blurry, she realizes, only half worried about that. Right now, she's much more concerned with whoever is outside that door.

Kepler would tell her to take stock. Analyze the surroundings, see if she's injured, see if she can find any clues as to where she is.

She's trying. She's injured, obviously, if the blood means anything. She seems to be in something like a hospital, or a research lab. Neither of the options are very comforting.

She's alone, aside from whoever is outside the door. She's on her own.

So, fine, she'll play along.

She carried with her, perhaps predictably, a clipboard.
