This is not a hate blog. I acknowledge that Dragon Ball Z also has bad animation. I'm not blaming the series itself, I'm blaming the animators and TOEI in general.

Probably the anon telling you to watch the latest ep was referring to 57 or 66; though to be fair, Super quality totally increased during and after universe 6 arc, it has some bad moments, obviously, but are very few compared to before. Even filler episodes sometimes have really nice animation moments (like Goku vs Gohan fight in 75)

Yeah I’ve seen some better animation around (this ask is probably like 2 years old now oh my God) but to be honest the ups and downs of this show are so jarring my head hurts just looking at it

I don't know if this blog is active but BLESS YOU - as I keep saying, the last episode (57) had a HQ moment because of Shida (a-freaking-God) but then dropped right back down once the fighting stopped. I'm just - UGH - BURN TOEI! If it's because of pre-production horrors then burn them for the pre-production issues even existing >.<

Thank you!! This blog was dead for a while because honestly I decided to give priority to actual good shows that were coming out, but I decided to watch Super because of the upcoming Broly movie so expect more content soon!!

Honestly Super has been a whole mess since the beginning. It clearly wasn’t planned as well as it should’ve been because what kind of show drops the ball on the 5th episode? Lmao @TOEI step up honey

So I just dropped by to say that I’m REALLY looking forward to the new Broly movie!! I hate Broly’s character in the old movies but the new story looks genuinely interesting

The animation became like this because the anime industry is going through a crisis, no one buys anime anymore so they had to hire freelance illustrators (since it's "less expensive"), hence the bad quality

TOEI animation is a veteran studio though. Lots of modern studios like KyoAni consistently put out amazing animation and if “no one buys anime anymore” they should logically be having the same problems

You know, Attack of the Fanboy recently posted an explanation on DBS episode 5's animation problems from the producer. Apparently, the animators were inexperienced rookies who recently started working in the industry and there are beliefs that they were hired to cut costs.

That may be the case, but it still baffles me that TOEI would do this with a popular franchise such as Dragon Ball. It wouldn’t surprise me with a weeb-baiting “moe kyun fuwafuwa” type of show but with such a popular franchise… just… why

The biggest problem with super is that Bulma's breasts aren't even animated. They're supposed to be saggy due to her advancing age! (Note: I'm totally kidding.)

Our queen Bulma has been slaying us for 30+ years with her grace and even when she’s supposed to be like 50 she still looks as good as ever!

Props to this woman for putting up with Vegeta and still looking amazing! <3

Go watch the new Dragonball Super arc. The story is great and the animation has been really solid in most of the episodes.

I know this blog is mostly dedicated to Super's bad animation, but I for one actually hate Super/the new movies completely. Retreading old plots (Beerus/Whis mirroring the Saiyans arrival on Earth, Frieza fight rising to a new level of power) and I really, truly, am disappointed this is where the series has gone. I've been a fan for nearly 15 years and this is the shit we get? What are your thoughts on Dragon Ball's new direction?

Honestly Battle of Gods was pretty cool, but I guess for me it was because we hadn’t seen anything animated since the 90′s/early 2000′s and it was pretty cool to see the characters again. Although I do agree that it was kind of copying the Saiyan arc with the whole “we found out about something cool on your planet and we’ve come here to check it out and mayyybe kill everyone”

I have expressed my thoughts on Fukkatsu no F before, and my opinion still stands. And just as I think introducing new Super Saiyans is getting repetitive, introducing new transformations for Frieza is boring and unoriginal, especially when they use it as an excuse to introduce Super Saiyan Blue or some shit.

As most fans, I like the old stuff better and I don’t think milking the franchise for its popularity is going to do TOEI any good nor will it be satisfying to fans who have been watching it for a while (although anything is better than the trainwreck that was GT)

I haven’t been catching up with DBS tho because:

1. None of my friends watch it and I’m pretty much just watching it for this blog because that show is (or at least was when I was following it) terrible

2. School murdering me

3. Jojo part 4 started coming out and I had to watch it because Josuke is best Jojo

4. I’m learning to animate so I don’t become as much of a failure as TOEI’s employees

Alright, that’s enough roasting for now, my job here is done~
