April 2023 Poem a Day Challenge #30

This is my final poem! It’s a narrative poem, and I wanted to make some accompanying art for it, so here it is! 

Albeit, a narrative poem that might feel conceptual and a bit incomplete. I think that when I think about a story, I think about it in terms of episodes or chapters because television/books are the media I’ve engaged the most with! I was really happy with the concept but less so with the execution-- I do wish my art skills and formatting skills for the medium were better and I think I will continue to grow that by just continuing to do it! I enjoyed making the story about the Face Lurker. I’ve always loved Halloween and scary stories, expressing fears and struggles that are often universal themes. ^^

Overall, I’m really happy I did the April Poem a Day challenge, because while writing everyday, I did end up creating maybe 2 poems that I liked. Overall, I found myself paying a lot more attention to song lyrics and poems I liked and thinking about how I could express myself that way. That love of a single, resonant line, or a complicated emotion captured in a short stanza is beautiful to me. I hope to continue to work on poetry and other writing/art at a slower pace so I can sit with things for longer and create something I’m proud of. Thank you world of poetry and people and expression.

I’d like to write a more nuanced poem one day about this kind of concept of romanticsing or making sense of something hurtful through this idea? Working on doing more complete story-telling in poems. I think thos one’s a tiny step closer to being a whole idea and not feeling too vague, but I think I still have a ways to go.
