Drakkon's Reach - Lesson One
Drakkon - noun
A creature with an innate ability to use wita (magic/dark matter) to influence their environment and themselves. They come in a variety of species, and their forms range between wyvern, drake, and wyrm, though many look different than human mythology has painted them. Most have a mix of feathers and thick leathery skin, with a large chest-plate of interlocking scales in a diamond-like structure. Most have a crest made of feathers or hair. Many fly, though not all, and most can swim. Nearly all shift between two or more forms. Most drakkons can take human form, especially those whose soulmate was born human (most drakkon mates take drakkon form). Their descendants include reta'vulfa (werewolves) aria (mermaids) and oro'heloun (hellhounds) as well as many others.
Their history has influenced ours, though much has been erased from our memories and writings. Driven into hiding by the Enclave of three very wealthy families centuries ago, their leaders created a world, called Nin'Kiz'Widme(True'Within'World), which connected all drakkon hiding places to it, and created a place where every citizen or denizen of the wita world had a place to learn. Drakkons have treaties with travelers from three other versions of the earth, and all drakkons and wita creatures of our version have a signed agreement protecting the bounds of Nin'Kiz'Widme and all other kiz'widme (within'worlds).
Nearly four-hundred years after The Hiding, Drakkons were forced to emerge when the young among them realized many of their mates were trapped in the human world, never able to quite fit in among the humans, and never able to take their true form, and they were dying because of it. Now they are desperate to save their mates, and save any other creatures they can, before the world of the humans is destroyed forever by the Enclave's desperate war against the drakkons. Drakkons are among the strongest proponents of reunification with humans.
