Music has always played a big role in Katie's life and she has been collecting records as long as she can remember. One of her earliest influences was her mother who herself was a DJ during the 60s. Drama Parlour's continuation of great music is this time selected by our friend up North, Mr Craig Christon. Music to cut hair to is something close to Craig's heart not only is he one half of the infamous Joe's bakery and Leeds own Outlaws Yacht Club you can also find him cutting hair at his salon Rebel Pin Up http://www.rebelpinup.co.uk/. Craig keeps a busy schedule cutting hair and working on his new alter ego Lenny Paradise which is gaining hype from clubland's, underground movers and shakers. He has regular DJ appearances, and record releases coming out, as you can imagine the soundtrack to his salon is ace and well worth a visit if you're in Leeds. Drama’s Icons, hairstyles and muses. Here at Drama Parlour we will be taking a regular look into iconic looks past and present up first is the one and only Debbie Harry of Blondie.
Debbie Harry will always be the ultimate Blondie, forget the Ombré her iconic platinum beach and two-tone colour made her a style icon still referenced today. Coming through the New York punk scene and the legendary club CBGB, which gave the world the like of the Ramones and Talking Head to name a few. Blonde would be thrust into international stardom as their sound was more pop, something which at first hampered the band amongst their own peers. Andy Warhol himself was a massive supporter of early Blondie and it is rumoured that his own iconic platinum wig was inspired by Harry’s own colour (it was originally brown, then blonde but not platinum).
Drama Parlour Cocktail; A cranberry Cooler, Vodka, Bitter Orange, Cranberry Juice and fresh lime juice served in a tall glass over ice.
We asked the guys below at the Dundee Arms to come up with a cocktail for us. Based largely on a Cosmopolitan, the Drama Parlour’s take is, well, just more. More cranberries, therefore packed full of more antioxidants, more Bitter orange, a natural stimulant, now we are talking and more importantly, more vodka. We think this is the perfect combination and fits right in. Next time you’re in, you must try one.
