Hey bro, I was just wondering, what are some of ur fave bands/artists?
Prince is my favorite artist most definitely. I mean no one comes close imo. He was making his own double albums while producing The Time, Sheile E, Sheena Easton, Vanity, etc… Shredded the guitar and he could play multiple instruments. Awesome voice which he used to the fullest. Songs like Condition of the Heart and Adore… Dude… Where he played most or all the instruments and did all the vocal tracks. Nobody is fucking with that. His arrangement on such a wide variety of styles from Let’s Go Crazy to She’s Always in my Hair to Under the Cherry Moon. Just his energy in general, as an artist, he put his soul into his art as no other has.
Then my favorite band is The Police. The Synchronicity album literally saved my life.
Finally my favorite rapper is Nas. Hip-Hop is to me the most effective way to deliver a message musically but I feel most artists have dropped the ball in that regards. I think what you say is more important than how you say it. I have worked with a lot of MCs, a few of them still close friends, and we have argued about that incessantly lol. Most disagree with me and I’m ok with that but songs like Ghetto Prisoners Rise and I Can… What Goes Around (Poison) and Heaven… Small World… These put Nas in the upper echelon of Emcees… The Chuck D, Dead Prez, Mos Def and Talib Kweli category that recognize how influential they can be and try to spread knowledge and wisdom.
When it comes down to it I love all types of music really. From System of a Down and Slipknot to Kenny Rogers and The Charlie Daniels Band, hence this blog! Stay up fam✌️
